Yes you can be self employed anywhere you are in the country transcribing for a living.

This thread will teach you everything you need to know to start up and the tools needed to deliver the goods.

You would need

1. A PC, tab or mobile phone
2. Affordable internet connection
3. Good head phones
4 Good command of English

Everything else can be learned on this thread. For those of us who have already started transcribing, we're welcome to share our ideas here so that this can be our online community.

To avoid this thread being banned, kindly let us adhere to all the rules of Nairaland.

Should we want to share screenshots, kindly let's block the company and important call info.

Also all forms of advertising is prohibited and will be reported.

Edited 9/7/2019 posted by samsard for newbies. Once you master these, the rest go easy

E.g
Rep: I was gonna, uhmmm, I was gonna tell ya about, about the new product we launched.
What they need: I was going to tell you about the new product we launched.

Punctuation: Hello, Philip. It's Emily calling from CLH Group. How're you doing today?
Cust: I'm fine, thank you. And how are you?

Longer calls will be more complex in terms of punctuation but for a start
A comma before and after a name in mid sentence. A comma before or after a name in salutation.
You're also allowed MINOR corrections for making clear transcripts.
Anyway, read through the FAQ and regularly Consult it while working at least till you acquaint yourself with it's detail

All full company names, PayPal email addresses and screenshots that include confidential company information must not be shared on this thread and will be reported

Please,
1. Do I transcribe "wow" as a response?
2. Do I transcribe the portion where the 1st customer calls the 2nd customer on phone to ask questions about the conversation with the Rep then transfers the 2nd customer over to the Rep?
Note: the voice of the 1st customer is clear but the 2nd customer on the other side of the call is inaudible(blank)
P.S ( I reported this to slack and was told to "suit myself"wink. Help me out. My time is exhausting.
This call is worth $7.
Let's Win this people abeg.

1. Yes.

2. Very important, are u 100% sure u are not mixing up the speaker labels?

If you believe your labels are correct then I'll suggest u transcribe the audible part of the customer conversations (label them as customer) and then use [...] for the inaudible part. How long was the inaudible part?

Think of it like this; a rep calls a company, his secretary picks (customer 1). After the rep speaks with customer1 and tells her wot he is looking for she then transfers the call to her boss (customer 2). I think this is a similar scenario to the one in the call u are working on.

2. The conversation went like this.
Rep: I want to speak to ...
Cus1: I will give him a call...
Cus1:do we reschedule our meeting with the reps comp...(now talking to cus2 on the phone)
Cus2: (no sign of voice)
Cus1: okay I will fix it on...
Cus2sadblank again)
Cus1: he will jump on to the convo in a minute. I will see you later.(now talking back to the rep)
Rep: okay.
Cus2: Hello...
Rep: Hi. Is this...
Cus2: yes. I...

Note (both customers are suppose to be on conference call with the rep cuz they are on the biz together base on the convo. but cus1 is busy and have to go off. So cus2 continues with the rep and his voice is now audible.

I did that yesterday. C1 and C2 were trying to create an account with our main customer. They were both Inaudible when speaking to each other. C1 was only audible when responding to R.
I left both customer's discussions out.

Sorry it's coming late. The bolded part between customer 1 and customer 2 should be left out since it's not part of the Congo with the rep.

You've submitted it, right?
How did u transcribe it?

Please guys! Is there a way one can pause the time while transcribing? I always run out of time which prompts me to hurriedly submit bad work.

Also when I try transcribing with my phone, the words I type overlap with the words on the webpage. I don't know if anyone experience this.

You are not opening a UBA account. You just need to get their Africard. Go with a passport photo and your ID to get it same day, but make sure you tell them that you want the international one

You can actually use your MasterCard and other banks Visa cards or even virtual cards to withdraw to your bank account but we have found out that the Africard works best.

You can start work right away after opening the Lesotho or UAE PayPal even before adding your card. You can even start before opening your PayPal account. All you need do is indicate the email you will be using for the paypal account on the platform and start work. If the paypal account is yet to be opened and you get sent a payment, paypal will send you a notification mail. It is just advisable that you get it all up and running before you start.

Hello, bro!
please, I have South African PayPal account. Can this Africard work on it or must I have Lesotho or UAE?

Thanks as I anticipate your reply
