Yes, if that person has not had it. Strongly advised to go and run test now; if negative, start the 3 dose vaccination; if positive, commence management.

I'm concerned because I read here that it can be transmitted through bodily contact like fluids etc which is why I want to get vaccinated. Is there a designated centre for it or just some random clinic?

Avoid reckless sex, hepatitis b is deadly!
i don't think it is only through Sex that one can contract this disease .It can also be gotten through fruit that u buy and eat outside; even buying food from all these unhygienic food ventures can transmit Hepatitis B.I don't know how true it is but that is why I have stop buying fruits cut in pieces by all these Aboki.

This was what i looked like back in December 2003 when i fell down with Hepatitis B. Well, it only costed us 21,000 then as hospital bill but i can now see that God spared my life. Honestly, i saw death and death saw me, but somehow, we just greeted each other and went our opposite directions.
To begin to describe the symptoms here enh.
I’m anxious to know how you survived it. Pls can you drop a success story

There seems to be a lot of misinformation on this thread. Would be good if someone qualified creates a completely new thread with accurate info to enlighten people.

You are describing another disease, not hepatitis B.
Bro, what i had was Hepatitis B, not another disease. Have you ever been down with hepatitis B? Ofcourse i have also read somewhere that it is not curable, so i guess either such write up was by a quack or that i got divine healing. What i can say for sure is that I had Hepatitis B, and i have not taken any drugs since 2004 for it.

Feel free to name what "other disease" you think i had. Anyways, anytime i happen to be in the vicinity of the hospital that treated me, i will see if my file can still be located.

Who told you that? I have been free of it since February 2004. I even had a baby this year, non got it. You realise i am now immune to the Virus right? Mostly survivors get the gift of being immune to it for life.

You only needed to be there when they were treating me. My drugs were more in size than the food i was eating then sef.
I am sure u started treatment quite early , if not when it becomes acute it cannot be cured ,but it can only be managed.

If i must be honest though, it was since that episode i started coming down with Malaria all the time. prior to that, i had never been to hospital for anything apart from perhaps when i was born. I was well known in my family as one who never needed to go to hospital. Other than that, i have not taken any dugs for Hepatitis B since 2004, and i have not had any "relapse" or something since then. In fact, if it was still in my system, i should have infected a few GF till date, yet none had it. I guess my case was different.

Meanwhile, an article i just googled. You can see some people are able to clear the virus and become immune for life. I guess i fell into such category.

What you had was the acute case which theoretically lasts for less than 6 months (recent people's experience have showed it could take up to 2 years to fight the active case). What I am having is the chronic case which is non-threatening for now but theoretically incurable.

I have seen the disease affect people in different ways, perhaps based on you body makeup, yet it is still the same virus. I really thank God cos what i saw then enh, people were avoiding me because they thought i had HIV, you could see my cheek bones and all my ribs.

Most good clinics should have the facility.

it's been 7 years now that I found out that I have hepatitis b. I ran some tests on my liver and the results shows my liver is absolutely fine. I have never for once got sick apart from normal malaria. But I'm scared I don't know if I'm free or not. I guess I need to run some tests again to know how i'm doing. But I feel fine [/quote]

See an experienced hepatologists. I see 3 good ones. Most doctors or GP know very little about hepatitis B. I can boldly say I know more about hepatitis b than 80% of doctors. And it is not limited to Nigeria. I am just a patient combing every information on how to get rid of the disease.

*Don't use herbal medicines or ill-prescribed drugs, you may damage your liver*

Dr Ganiyat Anifowoshe (Gastroderm Lekki). She even has a fibroscan so you can tell how good your liver is. She runs a private clinic and also a consultant. She is compassionate.

Dr Anomneze of Healthgate

Dr Ashaolu in Lagoon Hospital

Gpac123:

Thank you bro. Please can you recommend one for me?

Hello good day everybody
We need to be aware of hepatitis now more than before
There are hepatitis suppressive drugs for those that qualify to take it and there is vaccination for those that test negative. Hepatitis C is curable but has no vaccine
For further explanation ask your doctor.
