IMHO: There's nothing wrong with leaving Nigeria for abroad IF you have a feasible plan (skilled professional, further education, business opportunities etc etc). IF you have no plan and are those going to "hustle" and believe in the "Naija no dey carry last, i'm so rugged I can survive anywhere" then you are simply just going to waste your time and money (there are a very few exceptions to the rule which won't be you probably). And for those marrying for papers your actions will come back to bite you.

Nigeria is tough, no doubt. But to say you can't have some quality of life unless you are "rich" here just is not true.

If the recent events of happenings to Nigerians in Diaspora is not a loud enough alarm to tell you we need to make Nigeria work for us, then you are lost.

Check the investments section of Nairaland, some serious gems. If you want low risk and have a source income already then you can stick 3M in T Bills and use return as additional income source.

Very apt analysis you gave. If you need passive income then T bills could be your thing after all to even think about it you must be rich already Lol but for a young hustler, it's a no!

Thanks. That hustler approach could be done away with though to be honest, as it encourages getting money quick instead of getting money long but again, my opinion.

I just finished reading this content on nairametrics. The truth remains that you don't necessarily have to leave this country to make it in life. Oh and the notion that there is no good jobs around is a big lie. There are lots of good high paying jobs around. The question is, have you built yourself to land these jobs. These are not the jobs you get with your basic BSC from most Nigerian Universities.

A lot of you waste your time here being tribalistic while forgetting to add value to your self. Oh, in case you don't know, all these tribal battles most of you engage in have turned this platform to a playground. Most people looking for serious people don't come here anymore. I was talking to an HR consultant days back and she was looking for peeps to fill in some job vacancies with take-home of 500k and above monthly. I suggested she check on nairaland. She simply told me you don't see such calibre of people on nairaland. That she comes here only when she's looking for people for unserious roles like drivers, admin assistants and similar low ass jobs.

Leave nairaland and go and build yourself for the future.
I understand your point but people are not leaving because of only money dear.

Can your cowardice and lazy ass join the army and face death for your country in order to "depend on govt funds and largesse all your life"? Retard!

Nobody is saying there are no good jobs in Nigeria

The question is HOW MANY?

saying a lot is a big joke....

I have been fortunate in life, but if I say there are many good jobs out there
I'm defending myself and others

You are right about the adding value to yourself part

But even that is NOT a guarantee

The country is messed up, rotten and finished

You are very right. But in Nigeria, you sa rifive the basics at a cost. Energy, Water, Healthcare, Education, Pollution, Bad roads, insecurity and any basics you can thinks of.

To service those basics and their reoccurring resultant effect is a luxury in Nigeria.

If you have enough money to leave Nigeria please leave, the Nigerian society is bad to the health and mental well being of a person.

Leaving Nigerian for a better place abroad is far more than just having money. Money is important tho but you need to have other things that will convince the Visa Officer to grant you the access in.

Its more than just having the money.

See eh, I don't know about others but to me, I prefer a system that works to making a whole lot of money. Hitherto, I thought of going entrepreneurial (fortunately, I've everything an entrepreneur needs to start) but after analysing the country's future and seeing how things are going, I'm not interested anymore. I prefer a salaried work in a place where things work. I've not seen electricity for more than a quarter! It has been generators all through and trust me, the maintenance, fuelling cost no be here.

Having lots of money is good oh but what is the point having such in a place where one gets harassed by SARS, potential to get kidnapped, poor health facilities, unemployed people around who can become criminals overnight, poor infrastructure, multiple taxation etc? The last few months have reinforced my interest in staying in a place where things work. Is it harassment from SARS? Multiple taxation? Poor infrastructure? Please note, I'm not complaining but pointing out the realities. As a result, I cannot blame anyone who is interested in relocating provided it's legal.

My grandfather told my father Nigeria will be better, my dad told me same. Should I tell my children same?

That is what I promised myself o

My children will never shout UP NEPA.

False! When you working, the basics can't be your problem. What we call luxuries in Nigeria are basics. When you see your tax in action, trust me, you will be happy and feel fulfilled. Life is organised and planned here. You just have to work and things will automatically fall in place "IF" you cut your coat according to your size.

Nigeria itself isn't really losing when people go a abroad.

Repatriations contribute greatly to our economy.

We, as a people, should not wait for government and develop our community abroad.

Okay. Let me try to agree with you.

Where will the cost of running and servicing your generator come from?

Cost of servicing your car at regular intervals doe to bad roads?

Cost of servicing health and educational bills since you have no option than to go private.

Cost of private security you pay for on monthly basis.

If you add it all up and deduct it from your profit, tell me what you left with. You just be giving you are progressing but in actual sense, you struggling.

Nigeria has no life to offer you if you legit.

Why would reasonable people leave an amazing county with beautiful weather, beautiful women and migrate to a country where you're not welcome and the weather is very naughty
I would rather remain in Nigeria and fight for my place!

There are some Countries outside Nigeria(who are very sane and technology advanced) that has that beautiful weather all year round and beautiful women.

And who told you that some Nigerians are really genuinely welcoming

Some of those Nigerians that are acting welcoming is because of some things they will gain from you....that welcoming attitude in Nigeria is not free.
