The dedicated BRT lane was designed for the use of buses operating the BRT service.

The dedicated lane was structured into the BRT system to enable speedy transportation of commuters to their destinations. By law, non-BRT vehicles are strictly prohibited from using the lane.

For the implementation of the Lagos BRT project, some roads and expressways were partitioned for use by approved BRT buses.

The partitioning of the roads was met with outrage from some quarters. The reason for the outrage is that Lagos does not have wide enough roads and expressways to warrant the partitioning.

With the exploding human and vehicular population in the state, there is an agitation for the expansion of existing roads – and the construction of new ones. This is has become an urgent concern given the horrific transport traffic gridlock in the state, a situation that the inadequate roads contribute to.

12 years after the commencement of the Lagos BRT project, the demand for mass transit vehicle is still quite high. The situation, as noticed on major BRT bus-stops with stranded commuters, clearly shows that a whole lot more buses need to ply the dedicated BRT lane.

Recall that on May 17, 2016, former governor Akinwunmi Ambode donated 50 brand new BRT buses to the private sole operator of the BRT buses – Primero Transport Services Ltd – to help in satisfying the huge demand. Still, that effort has done little to satisfy the demand for BRT buses in Lagos state.

In 2016, the Ambode-led government of Lagos state abruptly banned the operation of the LAGBUS-supervised buses including those under its franchise scheme.

As of 2016, the number of BRT franchisees had increased to about 37.

With the insufficient BRT buses plying the dedicated BRT lanes, should the Government or the sole operator of the Lagos BRT re-introduce the BRT franchise programme to increase the number of BRT buses in the state?

Lagos is just congested. The state does not have enough roads to accommodate people plying it. Even if more busses were added the problem will persist

This is the reason why people don't use the BRT. It does not make sense waiting for hours for a BRT bus. If getting on a BRT bus does not take time, a lot more people will abandon their cars and use the BRT.

In an idea situation a BRT bus is suppose to get to each bus stop every 10-15 mins, this will allow people to plan themselves and also drop their cars at home.

Do you have a space (supermarket, Shops, Hospital, Restaurants, Hotel, Home & room e.t.c)and its important to keep away from dust, or isolates the noise or air conditioning? This is the perfect product for you.

The issue is that blue brt buses are not owned by Lagos state. They are owned by private organization with the mandate of Lagos state government. The new Lagos bus service limited buses which are solely owned by Lagos state are not allowed to ply brt Lane due the agreement entered into between the private organization and Lagos state government. I think Lagos state government are still on the case to introduce these buses on ikorodu road but it will take time since the buses are not programmed to ply the route.

The government regulator of the franchise busses is the problem, most if the franchise busses under lagbus were already turning into another molue, but how can you blame a government official working with a regulatory agency impounding a bus that belongs to MC Oluomo for instance or an APC bigwig that is connected to Tinubu?or the speaker of the house of assembly.

If those busses can be regulated, same goes for Danfo busses, then more busses can be on the dedicated lane.

I believe the BRT lane should be changed to a high occupancy (HOV) and lane so the yellow buses can use it. But they must be made to behave and cameras an fines can be given to erring yellow buses.
