I believe from asking sensible questions, not the "what are you wearing?" kinda question. You can tell a lot about a person's values- by extension, what they can offer.

Yes you are very correct too. Most of the ones who ask that question on Nairaland (at least) are just airheads trying to form coordinated. Every answer you give them, they will still find a way to trash talk it. Ask them what exactly they want on a different day and they will still say the same things a lady said before (that was trash talked).

The problem us you're taking a formal approach to this. It is not an exam or job interview. The answer to this question differs for each man.

While one man may be looking for a woman who offers sound financial management, another may be looking for a woman who offers an ability to care and be a shoulder to lean on etc.

It differs.
