‘Sort your waste for recycling’ – LAWMA MD
The Managing Director of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, has again urged residents to imbibe the culture of waste sorting at source by dropping all recyclable items in one bag and other waste items in another.

Speaking at Orile Bus Stop during a roadshow organised by LAWMA to create awareness and distribute waste bags following the recently launched Blue Box Program of the State government, Gbadegesin said the Authority embarked on the massive sensitisation program to draw the attention of residents in the area to the need for proper sanitation and cleaner surroundings.

“Today we’ve come to sensitise the community on how to maintain a clean environment because a clean environment is the beginning of good health for all Lagosians. If you don’t have a clean environment, you cannot enjoy good health”, he said.

Gbadegesin spoke further saying, “You were keeping one waste bag before, but now you will be keeping two bags; one bag for your recyclable materials like plastic bottles, cans and water sachets while the other bag is for general waste.

That is why we are distributing the bags to you, for the “Blue Box” program which the governor launched last week.”
“I also want you to stop the idea of using refuse to reclaim land. This is an unwholesome practice that is harmful to the environment and must be discontinued”, he stressed.

Buttressing the fact that the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Executive Order on Sanitation will be enforced, the LAWMA boss disclosed that the agency had commenced massive clean-up exercises along Orile – Lagos Badagry Expressway to ensure that the stretch was rid of black spots and all forms of environmental nuisance.

He urged residents in the area to support government’s efforts by embracing right environmental practices to protect them from the dangers of environmental pollution, adding that the

Authority had commenced distribution of trash bags, in line with the Blue Box program, to enable residents sort their wastes properly for recycling.
Mr. Funsho Adeolu, a renowned Nigerian actor and LAWMA ambassador, said he joined the campaign to promote environmental sustainability in the State, urging Lagosians to support LAWMA’s efforts at restoring the environment through proper waste management practices like waste sorting for recycling.
Also at the sensitisation exercise was Tony Ohekwuru, a child environmental advocate with Children for Cleaner Lagos, who educated residents on how to dispose of their wastes properly as well as the importance of waste segregation for recycling.

Keeping Lagos clean is not negotiable. One of the reason Ambode government was booted out was because of the Environment cleanup of Lagos State wasn't up to standard.

They need to make the designated trash containers available for this to be achievable

I lived in a country where trash is picked up after everytime it rains....just so it wont rotten and start smelling

in my hood,PSP says they will come twice a month....if u sort trash and leave it outside,scavengers go don scatter the whole thing sef b4 psp show

LAWMA trucks at Igando road , after Alimosho General hospital , they are disturbing traffic at that place , apart from being too close to a general hospital , the drivers don't conduct themselves , they turn a 3 lane federal road into a one lane road ,

this is very bad , provide a parking space for them , how can u be discharged from hospital only for u contact another disease just in front of the hospital

sanwo-olu will be there soon to commission the Mother and Child centre inside the hospital , let him see for himself .

there's another very big hole on ejigbo / idimu road , residents will fill it with wastes , once a driver put leg, he go enter, this hole can swallow a car

now it has taken half of the road , tankers and trailers now don't see where to put leg,

every Sunday early morning , drunk guys driving back from club always rest their tired Tyres in that pit (a towing van is always beside there every night waiting for the next victim) they should not wait till it get fatal, which might happen soon,

Say no to paying government before you disposed your waste.

To be clear, the functionality you're describing is something we've had suggested to us. and I believe it's in development. we're very focused on building the best product in the space, but we still have to prioritise new features. To reiterate, you're looking for the ability to highlight multiple accounts and see the top metrics for all highlighted accounts. Is that right?

Sorting of waste is no big issues but what methodology have those in government put in place to actualise streemline implementation. For the start each locality must has large size container to dispose different kind of waste. Such as Bio waste tank, metal, glass, plastics, etc

Correspondinly, each house hold must has small size waste disposal container for each of dis waste in their home. The plastic bags manufacturer must be encourage also to supply different range of polythene bags size to act as primary containter that will always be inserted in to the home small waste container to keep it clean for re-use.
Toilet n soakaway is must for any building to prevent mixing of human waste.
Plastic collecting bottle machine must be install in different mall around the city so that used plastic bottles can be exchange for few naira because already the plastic has been paid for when buying the full products.

Do all these and see transformation in environment.
