Any Engineering course requires that you're KNOWLEDGEABLE in further math, besides that's what you'll be doing in higher institution.
Not necessary you write the exam but the knowledge nd understanding you've had will help. You made d right choice

Yes. All Engineering courses in Unilag require you to have a credit in Further Mathematics.

It will also be necessary for all the undergraduate mathematics courses you will take.

But you could easily get the answer to your question from JAMB brochure. Or have they stopped issuing that?

Even if not a requirement, learning and passing Further Advanced Mathematics at O'Level gives you a good footing en route your study of Engineering.

You'd need a lot more hard work and study time in your first and second year if you took no O'Level Advanced Mathematics class.

Only in a country that is as backward as Nigeria

The founder of ACloud guru and one of the best IT instructors when it comes to Cloud Computing, Ryan Kroonenberg studied Immigration Law

.. But Nigeria wey still dey teach Fortran for University go dey shout make you get maths before you fit study the bullshit they call computer science in schools

What a joke

Rubbish! I don't even understand how all these symbols and jargons relate to life, we understand physics and chemistry are practicable, but that further maths is a fucking scam.A friend of mine said further maths was invented just to scare students and make them feel like failures

Yes of course, not only Computer but all Engineering fields. But you don't need to have a credit in it before securing an admission, only that most of your work will be based on further maths.

Further math is just an added advantage and since you did it in secondary school you should be fine. In my experience it's better to do Computer Science than Engineering. What are you looking at? Security, software engineering, networking, Service Management?
Don't get carried away by the term "engineering"

Yes. It is compulsory for all science students not to talk of engineering. If you are not good in mathematics don't even try engineering

Let me tell u a simple truth, without math/further math...engineering no de.
.
If u dont know further math/math, dont go for engineering.
.
Simple
.
My advise to you is - brush up your math knowledge, learn discrete math, algorithm and data structure, learn a prog lang(OOP like C++ and Python), learn C. These above language will bring you into programming more.
.
After you know all these, then chose your where you want to specialize, and learn a lang that align to that field.
.
Software Engineers are paid tons of cash with good perks.
I'm a living witness.
.
With hardwork and determination you can learn all those things I earlier mentioned.
.

If only I could turn back the hands of time, I would pursue a simpler university course and pursue other life dreams...

Studying Engineering in Nigeria is not worth it at all. You will waste your energy and time but yet you will be relegated to some not-so-popular technical section in offices, except if you're working in a core engineering firm.

Guy, go and study a simple course and do a lot of certifications, you'll become a hot cake.

If you don't have a credit in Further Mathematics, UNILAG won't admit you to their Faculty of Engineering.

I don't know about unilag requirements. Bro you can study any engineering course in any university if you have strong knowledge of mathematics in secondary school and without further mathematics. When you get to higher institutions you will cope. With tutorials and self study, you will cope. I'm speaking from experience.
