How did AJ lose to this guy though?
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 10:48pm On Dec 07, 2019
Flex Mentallo seems to have gotten his groove back.
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 10:52pm On Dec 07, 2019
Flex Mentallo starting to look vulnerable. Getting caught with some big hooks.
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 10:56pm On Dec 07, 2019
Game plan should be obvious, you're a longer fighter you use your jab and keep him at a distance. Working brilliantly for him so far. His footwork has been top notch as well. Clinches every time Ruiz comes close.
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 11:02pm On Dec 07, 2019
Flex on his way to a dominant UD win. But by God, his handlers should keep his as far away from Wilder as possible. He makes enough money on his own. Wilder will beat the brakes off of him.
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 11:26pm On Dec 07, 2019
People are saying different plans for different fights.

Here are the facts, AJ is 6'6, Wilder is 6'7, Fury is 6'9. Fighting at a distance is out of the question.

Is he good enough of a boxer to outbox fury or avoid Wilder for 12 rounds? Nope

Is he good enough or does he possess enough power to catch or drop Fury in 12 rounds? Nope

Can he try to take out Wilder without being exposed to mjolnir? Nope

Theres just nothing within his arsenal that suggests he can hang with the big boys.

That being said, kudos to him, he had an effective game plan and he stuck to it. Got his belts back. But like i said, him and Eddie should continue blaming politics and avoid that wilder fight at all costs.

After the Ortiz fight I'm not so sure. AJ thoroughly outboxed Ruiz today. Ruiz only tried to turn it to a scrap afterwards which AJ was smart to avoid.

Wilder can't eat those hits Ruiz ate today I'm deathly sure of that

Wilder is a better match up for him than Fury. I don't like his chances with Fury so much because Fury can duck him all 12 rounds but if it's that Wilder I saw vs Ortiz. Forget AJ has a very strong chance

What? Ortiz hit Wilder with bombs just as heavy if not heavier and not once was he fazed. I wonder what exactly you saw today that makes you think he can survive wilder. He cant use this strategy with wilder and even with this strategy like you said he got caught, you think AJ will survive bombs from wilder? hes easily the most chinny amongst the top heavyweights.

Dude, that Ortiz fight showed the most terrifying side of wilder. He doesnt go into fights to win rounds he goes in there to take people out. Ortiz is a much better boxer than AJ, more fundamentally and technically sound and he couldnt avoid that right hand. Even Fury couldnt avoid that right hand. AJ goes down in the early rounds. Not even playing. Wilder is the most horrible match up for him.
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 11:40pm On Dec 07, 2019
I would seriously like to see how AJ does against ortiz. Maybe we can get that fight before hopefully he fights the winner of Wilder Fury.

Calm down man. Give the champion some respect. Many of you didn't give him a chance today. Dude silenced his billion mouthful critics, who have begun shifting goalposts after this win.

I like the focus and anger on his face today. He will outbox Wilder for sure and with this kind of focus he may avoid the big right hand and Wilder might be history too.

The person I fear more is Fury on his good day.

Hell nawww. You're not telling me Ortiz hits as hard as AJ. We're not having that argument bruh

He got taken to school for 6 rounds by a 40 year old but you think AJ can't survive him. Surely you must be joking.

AJ's chin is good enough to keep him in the fight. He's no Frank Bruno

LOL. Dude, Fury couldn't avoid wilders right, Ortiz couldn't, but you think AJ can? How exactly?

Fury is not someone to be feared hes to be respected, he will funk up the place, make the fight boring as hell and run away with the belts. But AJ may have a punchers chance against him. But anyone who gets into a slugfest with Wilder should know it will end one way.

40 year old ortiz is still the 2nd best boxer in the division, plus hes a cuban south paw. 40 year old Ortiz will still outbox AJ for most rounds. Fury too outboxed wilder how did that work out for him? Pretty much anyone can outbox wilder for most rounds. But no ones chin is good enough to survive wilder, no one has ever stepped into a ring with him without getting dropped let alone mr chinny chinchin. The fact is AJ will get hit and when he does its night night.

No need for a slugfest against Wilder. Wilder is awkward and is looking for only one right hand. That's a plus but also a big minus. If AJ gets back his confidence and keeps this focus and anger, he can milk that awkwardness and avoid that right. To me, he stands a good chance against Wilder if he strategizes for that right hand.
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 11:56pm On Dec 07, 2019
And people really underestimate wilder as a boxer. He has one of the highest jab accuracy rates amongst all boxers across all divisions, second only to GGG. This myth about him being a mad man comes from his flurries when he has an opponent hurt or when he smells blood, usually he bides his time and when he gets you you're done. Look at the one two against Breazeale, you wont find a more textbook one two than that. Or the right hook against King Kong which was perfectly setup with a few left jabs before that lightning fast right.

Well obviously but how exactly does he strategize for it? Many have tried and they've all failed. There simply isnt an answer for a man who just needs to touch you to finish you. The only person who came close only survived because of a slow count. Like Wilder says His opponents have to be perfect for 12 rounds, he has to be perfect for two seconds. What about the man you just saw makes you think he can be perfect for 12 against someone like that? Breazeale fought with focus and anger, he was demolished in the first. Anger is the last thing you should have fighting against Wilder.

Against some good boxers he struggles awkwardly until he lands that right, sometimes very late into the fight. That tells me there is a window that can be exploited in his weakness.

False. Who does Ortiz have on his resume. The highlight of his career is two losses to Wilder. Finish!

Ortiz will never win all 6 rounds against AJ and Ortiz's chin is nothing like Andy Ruiz. AJ would definitely drop Ortiz that's why Ortiz ducked when they gave him an offer for the belt. Ruiz was never part of the plan ab initio. Ortiz is a good fighter but don't hype him more than what he is.

Of course AJ will get hit but what I'm saying is AJ hits harder than anybody Wilder has ever fought. He has a strong chance and for me is the Heavyweight best equipped to beat Wilder outrightly

Not anger against Wilder. I meant he channelled the anger about being disrespected by people for that loss into this fight. All emotions have their good uses if they are channeled appropriately.

It's like Kobe channeling his anger at being disrespected into mamba. The end product is different from the initial negative emotion.

Doesn't matter how awkward he looks though. Thing is when you try to exploit that "weakness", when you start to get comfortable, that's when he catches you. Forget all the myths, I've been following wilder long before Joshua burst into the scene and I can assure you there's a method to wilders madness. The only man who stands a chance against him is the Gypsy King.

That jab Ruiz ate in Round 11 would have sent Ortiz to the nether realm. If AJ had aimed that at Ruiz's temple it would have been good night.

I hope Ruiz fights the loser of the Fury and Wilder rematch

No. He got away with it because Ortiz's ass was too old. You really think Wilder would have escaped with that strategy whatever it was with a younger fighter?

It's not even about avoiding but more about utilizing your dominance at any point of the fight. I'm encouraged by what I saw from AJ today so whether Ortiz is technically and fundamentally better is moot. He doesn't possess the power to press home his advantage. Plus he's really not fought anybody if we are keeping it a buck bat Wilder

I would rather AJ faces Wilder than Fury. I've seen lesser fighters wobble Wilder too many times. None of them possesses AJ's power

Ortiz doesn't have a big name because all the big names avoided him until wilder. Why wouldnt they? A Cuban South paw with a great amature background and experience who's been knocking people out? High risk low reward.

Ortiz turned down AJ cause he was promised Wilder and possibly because he didn't have enough time to cycle off. You know the old man needs his juice. Otherwise people like Ortiz don't have the luxury to duck based on fear especially when there's a paycheck involved.

The fact that you admit AJ will get hit should let you know how this will pan out. He hits hard but he's not one punch man and before he can accumulate that damage wilder will knock him spark out.The only man equipped to beat wilder is fury who is a heavyweight that somehow moves like a bantamweight, again even he was sent to the netherrealm.
Re: The NBA Begins by DeeMain(m): 12:16am On Dec 08, 2019
Wilder is very lethal, don't get me wrong. But I see opportunities for a Joshua win too. That's my point.

Joshua earned back my respect with this win.

It's a good thing Ruiz beat him. That loss will stand him in good stead in the coming storms.
