UFC 245: USMAN VS COVINGTON
Kamaru Usman produced a stunning final-round finish to retain his welterweight title with a thrilling win over Colby Covington.

It was a battle of the hardest puncher as none of the fighters tried to wrestle.
The challenger began the fight as the aggressor but could not maintain his early pace and was eventually overhauled by the Nigerian in the closing stages.

Usman, who was making the first defence of his belt, looked set to be reliant on the judges until he dropped and stopped the brash American in the final minute.

Kamaru Usman was riding a 14-fight winning streak having beaten Tyron Woodley in March to win the title, while Covington had beaten Robbie Lawler, Rafael dos Anjos and Demian Maia in his last three fights.

Both men let their hands go in the opening but it was Usman who found a home for right hand before Covington clattered the champion with a left hook.

The relentless pace continued into the second session as one punch was answered immediately by one from the opposite direction.

But it was Covington, famed for his ferocious work rate, who was landing the more accurate blows.

The pace slowed in the third round as Usman began to control the fight with bludgeoning shots to the challenger's body with both hands and feet.

Covington then poked the champion in the eye with less than a minute of the round remaining but Usman was able to continue after being checked by the doctor.

The challenger complained he had broken his jaw after taking a right hand square on the chin and he came out swinging in the fourth round, landing successive left hands although Usman shaded the stanza.

With the fight likely level going into the final five minutes, Covington made the first impact with a solid left hand before Usman returned to the body.

Usman upped the pace in the last two minutes as a right to the chin stunned his challenger and another dropped him before he seized the chance to finish the fight.

Usman has never been wrestled down in the UFC.
His victory puts him on 16-1-0.(16 wins, 1 loss and no draw), while Covington drops to 15-2-0.

Afonjas everywhere. But they say they are cowards . If setting records and making your country proud is what is meant by a coward, then I want to be called a coward
