Dear UrsyBC,

You mean you submitted account statement of one year from Sept 2018 to Sept 2019 and you are told to resend same account up till date for a year again as you have done before.

My application was approved and passport requested on the 7th of November. I mailed it to them and an acknowledgement was received on the 14th. Since then, my passport has been under process at IRCC and program start date is just 3 weeks away.

I mailed the Nairobi office to express my concerns and sent a CSO to Lagos office but there was no response. A week later, I sent another mail and they responded on Tuesday, 10th Dec.

Can someone guess the response?

I was asked to provide through email, the statement of the account that i submitted, from Sept 2018 to Sept 2019. In order words, after approval and passport request, IRCC Lagos office requested for a one-year statement of the account that I submitted in my application. They asked me to submit before 12th, Dec.and instructed that the statement shows my name, number, available balance, debits and credits.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by UrsyBC: 10:57pm On Dec 16, 2019
@Efficiency123

At the time of application, I submitted just a 4-months statement of account(June-Sept) and a reference letter from the bank. However, after my application was approved and passport requested, they specifically requested for a Statement covering Sept 2018 to Sept 2019, and that equals 1yr SOA. Note that my available balance in December appeared somewhere on the first page of the 1 yr statement. So at a glance, one could see my total credits n debits for a period of those 12 months as well as my available balance as at the time of printing the SOA.

Hello Gurus in the house I just got my GCMS note. Please do you think am on the right track??

Wow! Canada, Their Visa officers and policies towards issuing visa to nigerians is very bad. They are wicked and using immigration to make so much money. They give this visa randomly to meet their numbers annually.
This your GCMS is almost a direct copy and paste with the one I got. Wow!
Frank had mentioned before that GCMS is almost of no use this days.

Why are they even angry that we don't want to depart their country? I thought that Canada is looking for immigrants. Shuo.

In order not to detail the thread with constant repetitive answers, please check my post earlier this year for THE LIST OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR A SUCCESSFUL STUDY VISA APPLICATION.

The Cyber security(1yr. Co-op) at Toronto school of management is it a post graduate diploma or an advanced diploma?, Assuming it's a PGD/C and you finished with a 2.2, then your chances of securing a Canadian TRV are good.

It will end in praise

Mr Frank,

I must say you and the rest of the Gurus are selfless...I graduated with a cgpa of 3.5(agricultural Extension and rural development) i know it is classified as 2.1, even though I know no two applications are the same
but I don't intend on applying for a direct masters because the info I have gathered here so far indicates that it will be a tough task to gain admission into a direct masters with that cgpa, considering that my last two years cgp as an undergraduate is not any better, roughly (3.56).

Therefore,I am considering applying for admission to Fanshawe College(Agri-Business Management)a graduate certificate,It is quite a popular school here and I am hoping @Naijaforeigner will be of help too.. I hope the V.O won't feel I could have done better with that cgpa? Does this show progression? Would you advice I look for another post graduate diploma in a University, perhaps like Saskatchewan University? What are my chances of getting a study Visa? there are so many questions I would love to ask,but I must stop here.

I need everyones suggestions.

Merci

Greetings.. thank you for holding it down here. You guys are doing a great job here. Sometimes I wonder If you’re Nigerians with the ample of time you spend replying posts and dishing advice at no cost. God will reward you all.

Please I would love to ask if it’s compulsory to include an SOP alongside an LOE when reapplying. Even if your LOE contains all that may appear on SOP.

Also if it okay to start Visa re- application for Spring now. Thank you in anticipation

I don't know much about Canada but if you don't apply for MSc and spread your chances in different schools... you will never know what lies ahead. If someone with a 3.56 is scared, what should someone with a 3.0 do?

My opinion is shaped from the fact that I don't believe in all these diploma thing

Since mid 2018 when i started to have idea about Canada study visa, i have never believed in SOP and GCMS.
SOP because i know a few people including a relative that got visa easily then with just a "letter" of explanation. This letter then captures briefly all the areas of your visa application. From a brief introduction of yourself to explaining past study, program you are going for, how it relates, how it will improve you, how it will help your country, why you must come back bla bla bla..... I still have copies of those people's letters and they are currently in Canada. But starting from the 3rd quota of 2019 when refusal started pouring like water, GCMS became necessary and then reasons for both LOE and SOP if you have to reapply.
Now to respond directly to your question, base on experience and lessons learnt from a few of the gurus in the house which i am close to, It will be necessary for you to use an SOP alongside LOE.
Use the SOP strictly on the program you are going for. WHY THE SCHOOL? WHY THE COURSE OR PROGRAM? YOUR CAREER GOALS, WHY CANADA AND NOT NIGERIA? EMPLOYMENT PROSPECT AFTER GAINING THAT KNOWLEDGE etc...
while you should use the LOE to talk briefly about yourself and current job role. Then pick out all your refusal reasons one by one and tackle them with documents to backup and to prove how your situation has changed. Even reasons not giving to you should be addressed in your LOE. Just like the gurus here will say, dont leave any stone on-turn.
I wish you luck.

Just some heads up.

1. You actually can get a Masters placement with a 3.5 CGPA. Although it may be difficult, but I did get an admission with a CPGA within that range for a friend at Memorial.

2. Target programs and schools that do not mandate applicants to get a supervisor before being admitted. Supervisors always want students with 'excellent' grades so do not waste your time looking for research programs or programs that mandate supervisors.

3. Don't go for anything less than a Masters degree especially if you are going to apply for your study visa from Nigeria. Your chances will be very low although it is not impossible.

4. Do not under-estimate the power of your statement of interest or personal statement. Get a well written personal statement. It will do 30% of the job.

5. Get your professor(s) to write you some good recommendation. It works a lot.

I hope you find this piece of information useful.

Regards.

However, i wonder if there are people coming in to University of Regina, SK in January. Let me know.
Would be happy to help whichever way that i can.

Just want to say, I was really worried as all the documents I submitted for proof of financial ability were much and after managing to compress to 3.9MB, the documents didn't look to sharp, I thought that it would be an issue but I thank God, for favour. I will suggest if you are having same challenges as I did, you can use CamScanner on Android play store, I found out about it after submitting mine with poor resolutions.
Thanks.

To be honest, it is even difficult for a 2.2 with cgpa of 3.1 to get admission for a PGC, l have been refused admission at Conestoga for 5 IT courses despite work experience, paid application fee of $100 twice, and the reasons for refusal is insufficient GPA, spreading your chances involve application fees as well,Let's be realistic. At the end of the struggle we will give thanks to God.

According to IRCC website, at least 6 months prior to the resumption date of the program. In practical reality, at least 3 - 4 months is ideal time to apply.

A quick review of PURPOSE OF VISIT; I met a Kenyan lady that actually did her masters in international relations at Coventry university in UK and currently enrolled for a post baccalaureate program DIPLOMA in Marketing at Thompson rivers university. Now that's a direct transition from MSC to Diploma program for the Sol purpose of gaining business credits since she otherwise studied a pure Arts and humanity program.

Always strive to look into the content and description of your designated programs and have a general academic objective for embarking. It's not enough to just state your dad/mum runs a business you want to fall back on or gain promotion. Please be advised.

P.s: I have received tonnes of messages regarding Thompson rivers university and I will be answering soon. Kamloops is a small but great city to use as a transition to a bigger city in Canada. Cheers!!!
