In the US, health insurance handles bills. U can't pay outta your pocket as an individual. My aunt in the US had a hole in the tooth, with the tooth almost eroded. They said tooth extraction and a root canal job would cost #4m, and it wasn't covered in her health insurance. She had to endure the pain til she came to the #Shithole, where I took her to my dentist friend. Dude collected 10k from her. Very comedic.
So for folks complaining about cost, please do a price comparison with other countries. Even Rwanda, Sudan. Please don't compare with South Africa or Kenya. U go die. Then revert to us

Health insurance doesn't cover everybody and besides you pay for it every month whether sick or healthy and how much you pay determines the type of cover you get

That you dentist guy don pocket 10k. Brisk business.

Lucky you. It is worse in the University setting. For some persons these levies, no matter how ridiculous, are deducted directly from their salaries. Whether you agree or not. Whether you were in the meeting or not. How can a union even have access to your salary without your consent? From research, the lowest some persons in the Universities have been levied for the past few five months is 5000 Naira. These unions have been hijacked by thieves. Unfortunately the EFCC doesn't seem bothered about it.

Maybe nobody has called the attention of the anti-graft agencies to these things, or the anti-graft agencies are more interested in 'catching' yahoo boys. Lol

most patients are complaining about hospital bills because billing system is not transparent. even barbers, bricklayer and other artisans have billing system that members of public can have access to. Hospitals should let patients understand bills for every service and product in hospital. For example billing for cs can include -bed space 2k per day, nursing charge 2k per day, initial consultation-5k, ward round 1k per day, operation 30k, theatre pack 20k, anaesthesia 20k, laboratory services based on tests, pharmacy based on drugs etc. if all hospitals adhere to principle of transparent billing , most of the problems arising hospital bills will be solved
There is actually a breakdown sha in most private hospitals I know, you may have enquired from them

An average Nigerian is criminally creative. Once they find themselves in a small position of authority, they begin to ride rough shod over their fellow professionals who elected them.

A good number of Exco members in these professional bodies are very corrupt. Their personal practices are nothing to write home about, hence, they depend on the monies members are made to pay to enrich themselves. Just a few clique of jobbers who have perfected the act. It's not only in NMA, other professional bodies are guilty and have same looting going on by a few who cook up their accounts at the end of the year using a hand picked external auditor to validate same.

Look very closely around you and every blessed minute you see activities that provide clear evidences that ordinary Nigerians are the major problems with Nigeria.

Don't let anyone fool you with all the "leaders & government na our problem" bullcrap. There is no one born as government. You elect them from within & most got to power by paying a large number of ordinary Nigerians a token in exchange for votes.

You need change, start with yourself. When the chips are down can your friend trust you with his N1m without hearing stories of how you borrowed all or part of the money for one reason or the other? My fellow Ordinary Nigerian, think deeply before you answer yourself.

U still av to pay even if dey lost d baby due to dia neglegence!!!. A friend of mine within a space of one week expended 33k on malaria nd typhoid. Moreso, most of dem ar still very heartless,

Sorry man, I understand your frustrations. May Almighty God provide for you. To do c/s in a public hospital in my state, you won't spend anything less than 100000.

You can.always walk away from Bill if you feel it's too much. You really do not have to pay.

You can say Bleep.'you doctor I am not paying 120k for ordinary cs,' pack up your wife in labour and head to he church. You can say " Bleep it, am gonna use agbo jedi and mixture for this malaria" and tell the doctor to kiss your ass.

You really have a choice

all d trash u wrote updia dosnt dispute d fact abt d outrageous prices!!! *certainly, studying medicine dosent connot intelligence!!

Actually, just thank God, medical fees in Nigeria are among the cheapest in the world. In the US, a CS can cost you nothing less than N20m (not a mistype o) and even a vaginal delivery that you can get an auxillary nurse to do for you here or a hospital will take N12-15k las las, can cost you up to N12m. And it's not like they extract a gold plated, diamond encrusted baby o. It is the same procedure they will do. Eyewitness account.

That N120k you are paying here, the gynaecologist will get maybe N30k, the anaesthesiologist maybe N30k. The hospital will collect for bedspace, patient management, PHCN bill, nurses salaries, gatemen salaries, drugs, equipment. To be sincere, N120k is not exorbitant. And I'm not even a doctor. I just have seen the accounts of many private hospitals and most are barely breaking even financially. And when doctors travel abroad; we will be calling them unpatriotic.

The NMA is like a blood sucking, money guzzling association, looking for whatever means possible to milk the Nigerian doctor.
We who have left the country aren't left out either. We have to fork out 10-20k each year to keep our names on the medical register despite the fact we dont practise in the country. Else we would have to pay the sum of every year's levy for which we have been out of the country.
Who does that? Such a great way to encourage us to return back to the country.

120K CS is cheap. That's almost free.

Where I worked before I left Nigeria,CS was 500K and above.
If i m invited to do a CS ,I collect nothing less than 50K

I can perceive your bitterness and hatred for doctors.
Sorry oh

The medical council of Nigeria are filled with rogues whom EFCC ought to probe. Why demand such outrageous bill for building when members pay monthly dues.

If Efcc probes them, they 'll manufacture lies to mobilise doctors to go on strike as they usually do
