This paper draws inspiration from previous nested-square -root formulas for pi to generate an infinite number of pi formulas- Formulas with infinite nested square roots, followed by formulas with finite nested square roots. By substituting different values/ variables as indicated one can derive different pi formulas. One important part of this work is that, the formulas derived are such that the real numbers under the square roots can have fractional powers.

Meanwhile Prof Wip, how much do you think I can get for a publication in a decent Mathematics Journal- Ramanujan Journal- and how does submission to Tubitak work?
I hope you remember me though. I asked for your counsel on Turkish visa processing after admission into METU, Ankara back in 2015. I have changed my keyboard mode to English since then, though. grin. We are proud of your work in academia.
wip7:

No need paying to publish in quality journals. It is FREE... read a few pages back where I have shown many times how to find journals and.......... all those are free QUALITY JOURNALS, not all these fake paid Indian journals.

Congratulations on your published article. I'm yet to write any article because I don't have much clue on how to go about it. Can you please briefly put me through?

Welldone welcome to the club of those they get paid when they publish quality research paper in quality journal.

For this paper you will be paid 3175TL (its a good money) see attached.

My targets in 2020 is 300,000$ to be paid meaning I have to publish 45 papers now I published 7 in 2020 already. Also, two of my products have recently received commercial status and I will start production for the company that contracted me from March.

And well Prof, I do know that's some good money. grin. But can you please direct me on how to make a submission?

Happy Sunday scholars!
Please who knows any better biocarriers that can be used in Anaerobic trickle bed reactors? I mean surface area where biofilms can attach to with a surface area let say 900sqm/cubic meter.

The following can serve as a good biocarriers and some of them, their efficiency and performance have been established industrially:

1. Zeolite powder-based sponges like polyurethane

2. Zeolite-based biochar

3. Modified guar gum polyurethane.

Advantage of the above:

1. Advantage of polyurethane is that it has advanced simultaneous nitrification and denitrification properties due to the highly dissolved oxygen gradient in the cubic biofilm.

2. It has high mechanical strength, large specific surface area, rough surface and good adhesion to microorganisms

3. Zeolite also has large porosity and a large specific surface area, as a biofilm carrier it exhibits good adsorption performance.

So a combination of both will be highly recommended.

Best wishes

Good day great scholars on here.

Dear great Professor Wip7, I seriously find it hard to believe that you are a Nigerian. The way you selflessly give out advices and ideas, coupled with your vast pool knowledge and great achievements, one will absolutely mistake you for a White man. We really appreciate your efforts. God bless more abundantly, Amen.

Sir, please I'll need your guidance. I'm a graduate of Petroleum Engineering from a federal university with a 4.19 CGPA of 5.0. I'm currently serving in Lagos (NYSC); I will be passing out by August of this year. I have the intention of applying for fully funded Master's scholarships abroad. Someone advised me to write and publish articles on journals to increase my chances of getting any scholarships. With these, sir, I have some questions as follows:

(1) How else do I increase my chances of getting any scholarships abroad?

Due to increasing competition and the growing number of applicants, the majority of funders tend to streamline the evaluation of criteria to search for not just the highest CGPA but also some experience and skills that will set the applicant different. Master and PhD are designed to be a research-oriented program, hence, having a research publication can be worthy. You have a good result, start searching for opportunity now before you complete your NYSC. Try to register with researchgate (they often post job/scholarship opportunities), search Nordic countries that have oil like Norway universities they usually have a scholarship in oil-related fields. If you have opportunities for research do it. Meanwhile, try many universities in Canada also, they have a master program in Petroleum and also offer scholarships.

(2) If publishing articles does that, how can I get topics and search for resources for assistance?

Visit ScienceDirect.com or googlescholar type keywords for research in your related, skim through many of them and see what interests you, then you will need a lab to carry out your research. if you have access to a lab in Nigeria, I can give you a direct topic you can work on if I know your undergraduate thesis/project.

(3) I have computer programming skills. Is there anyway I can marry it with my studied course.

Be specific about your programming skills. Myself, I have in-depth knowledge python, C#, Java, JS-HTML/CS, machine learning and various JS libraries. Mine is very practical and I have used it lots in my project work and also commercial. So be specific so I can advise further.

(4) Is there any online programmes you can recommend to me that align with my interest?

Until I know your interest.

I'm really sorry about the lengthy write-up. Anticipating your response.

Please advice from everyone is welcome.

Waiting for a response and best wishes!

Many thanks Prof for your selfless service and prompt responds to questions. And very special thanks to all the gurus. I did Master's in Energy and Petroleum Economics (Non Thesis based); with a project on An analysis of the demand and supply of petroleum products and their impacts on Nigeria Economy.
I am interested in Phd abroad - Candan, USA or UK. I have difficulty with appealing project topic. I am counting on your experience to help me on this Prof. It could be within the area of Public policy, Resources Management, Environmental management, Oil and Gas Management, Economics of the Environment and Economic Development.

You have a nice educational sphere...well done! Kindly visit scienceDirect.com and just type a few keywords related to your research interest. You will definitely see a number of research published in that area, then read. Understand and get to see any area of improvement and start your research. Every reasonable research is directed to solve challenges, so look for issues, loopholes and unsolved or threatening issues...this will assist you to formulate your project topic.

Best wishes!

Research on biofuel from insects wastes: FUNDED

My lab has just received EU funding of around 200,000 euros for research on biofuel production from insects wastes.

I am the leading professor in the project. Recent results from experiments show that insect waste can produce methane in similar quantities to manure and sewage, making it a viable source of renewable biofuel. According the reports from the Journal of Cleaner Production, using insect waste to produce methane gas could boost the environmentally friendly credentials of insect farming for animal and human food.

I am not an experienced researcher myself, just starting out. I just got my first degree too. And it would be difficult for me to offer advice directly related to petroleum Engineering cos it's quite distant from my area. But from my short experience so far, you could begin by looking deeply into a topic(s) that piqued your interest, at some point during your undergraduate studies.
Edit: I suppose Professor Wip has provided a better and more detailed answer.

You will be able to claim your money from TUBITAK as soon as your published paper is indexed in WOS....after the paper is in Web of science, you need the following to get paid:

1. WOS number of your paper

2. IBAN from Turkish bank where the account name is same as that on the published paper

3. International passport number

Update me if all are ready via email, I shall direct you on how to apply and get paid.

To maximize or get more money, I go for more journal range between 5000-15,000 TL. There is database to check the range of payment. So if you get 10 articles in those with 15k a year ...you know the rest!

Turkish government pays anybody that publish quality journals and working in Turkish-based universities or research labs.

The authors that will claim such money must be working in Turkish universities and address of author on the paper must be Turkey. So authors can carry out research anywhere but authors must be connected to Turkey.

It’s a good way of support to researchers and also this encourages them to do more and in turn the country ranking will increase significantly.

I was at the meeting of the stakeholders around early January 2020; the Turkish government scientific units budgeted around 13 billions dollar to support researchers in year 2020 and additional 5 billion usd expected from the private sector to enhance start-up from educational sector and research.

Also, the lion's share in Turkey's 2019 budget was allocated to education with $30.5 billion.

Thank you so much sir for your kind, valuable response. Please I'll like to respond as thus:

(1) I've tried registering on Researchgate often times before now, but I'm always being rejected, saying I need an institution email in order to join the platform. Can you help me via an invite to join?

(2) For the search on ScienceDirect and GoogleScholar you recommended, is it to get a topic to research and write article on?

(3) My undergraduate project topic was "Economic Analysis of an Oil Rim Reservoir in the Niger Delta." It was actually about an oil rim reservoir that was produced (on simulation) using two production methods. The simulation was done using a Petroleum Engineering simulation software called Eclipse (owned by Schlumberger). Economic analysis was done on the two methods of production using some key economic parameters, and the one that's more profitable was recommended to be used to properly develop and produce the reservoir. Although, when my supervisor then approved the final chapter, he said I didn't do any investigation (I didn't even understand him). My specialty is Reservoir Engineering. Moreso, I did a project on "PVT Analysis of an Oil Condensate Reservoir" during my fourth year IT at Shell, Port-Harcourt.
As regards access to a lab, I don't know if my department will allow anyone who's not undergoing any studies with them to access their lab. But we have Shell Professorial Chair in my school headed by the only professor in my department. I know I can always interact with one of the guys working with the professor to get some Petroleum Engineering simulation softwares.

(4) My programming skill set include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, PHP, MySQL, MongoDB, NodeJS, Java, Python, C# and C. But currently, I'm trying to build my online portfolio. I believe it'll help boost my CV. I've also developed interest in Data Analysis/Data Science, and I've started gathering resources to help me on it. I was glad to know that most mathematical backbone of Data Science was among the maths courses I did in my undergraduate days, and maths is one of my strengths.

(5) Sir, what if I decide to do the Master's degree without scholarships and very limited funds? Will I be able to survive with the students' part-time jobs available? I hope international students can work part-time jobs in most American and European countries legally? I'm a dogged person, and I like abiding by laws of the land. Why I'm asking about this is because I like considering every scenarios (both best and worst cases i.e with and without scholarships) in my dealings.

Thank you. Anticipating your worthy response.

Very unethical to write a dissertation for a student and also it’s an academic fraud for a student to hire someone to write a thesis/dissertation for them if that’s your services.

Good day,

Once again congrats for your research efforts and I will encourage you to do more. I have gone through the journals you have published your research findings, very unfortunate, these journals are not reputable journals or rather not classified/indexed in databases which are internationally recognized as reputable journals.

There are lots of journals worldwide, however, reputable universities worldwide accept publications that are indexed in Web of Science (WOS), SCI (Science Citation Index), SSCI (Social Science), AHSCI ( Arts and Humanities), MCI (Medical) or expanded forms.

None of the above journals in which you have published is found in WOS or Clarivate. . You have a great results and have done brilliantly with your research and am happy with your progress. I will encourage you for your next research publication to first check the following and ensure the journals you have selected to publish are found in WOS or Clarivate;

Below links will be of great help:

Clarivate: https://mjl.clarivate.com/search-results
WOS: https://www.webofknowledge.com/

Please I want to know how I can earn from my publications?
Thanks once more!

Only articles published in the journals found in WOS are paid for by majority of Educational funding organizations. You may ask the university you are attached to, in case they have another rule. For the Turkish and Canadian universities, I am attached to pay for only journals in WOS/Clarivate. Also, I heard the University of Ilorin in Nigeria does the same pays around 150k naira (as I was told).

May I know what exactly you are working on? I have couples of research works and some published on medical-related with special focus on antibacterial materials and biosensors for point of care.

Best wishes and let me know if I can be of further help.
