lol, there is no best anywhere in Engineering. In developing a complete system, you need the contribution of various disciplines of Engineering. So pick the one that you have passion for and forget best or no best.

A lot of job opportunities ; just try and get necessary skills in the field for you to be able to apply for jobs and with experience, you're good to go.
I actually read mech too and I don't regret it.
Best of Luck !

My understanding is the Nigerian ranking goes like this:

Chemical engineering

Elect elect

Mechanical

Material

Mettalurgical

I'm only sure about the first two as per ranking though.

In addition, it doesnt mean the rating is correct. I think they (Nigerians) go by earning potential or something.

Materials engineering should be topping bro... Nanotechnology is really booming....to me EEE is also good...
But base on future mechatronics, materials, biomedical engineering are the best....

I'm not sure Nigeria has Biomedical engineering yet.

Maybe a few universities?

Although I found this:

https://www.nigerianbme.org/

Also, civil is not on that list.

It should be number 3 or 4 perhaps.

Yes, the ranking is not very high but I think it's somewhere in the middle.

I'm not an engineer so I'm not too sure of these things, I only know Chemical Eng and Elect are considered the top two.

I'm not in engineering so there's no sentiment to this
Thus:

Elect elect
Mech
Civil
Petroleum
Chemical
Computer
Biomedical
Mechatronics
Metallurgical

for me, I'm studying elect/elect and computer *computer and Electrical/ electronic engineering *mechanic and agricultural engineering *chemical engineering and food engineering *civil engineering the last is petroleum engineering
why I put computer as the no1 is bcus there is no field that does not need them
