Nobody have the right to detect for our Muslim president. He is wise and as a retired General knows the intricacies of warfare and the danger of changing war heads at random.

Well if its bokoharam issues then these service cheif are responsible but if its about kidnapping, herdsmen n bandictry; then police hierachy n ss should be held responsible. Especially those jobless ss running after sowore n SIM buyer instead of infiltrating enemy camps

[quote author=Maxymilliano post=86500380]My theory is, Buhari is keeping the service chiefs, who have failed in their duty, out of self-preservation. He is prioritising loyalty over competence because he still sees the wraith of the 1985 coup in which he was deposed. Boko Haram can sack the entire north-east, but the president will still keep the security chiefs. He considers any threat to his office of far greater concern than any threat to the lives of Nigerians.

This might be the "missing link"!

Nonsense! As if Mr.President is even aware he is in Nigeria let alone being a puppet when his kitchen cabal have not spoken or given him a speech to read. How can a president be telling a nation that he does not have the discretion to act on his own even without the NASS calling attention to his constitutional responsibilities?

Service chiefs that have long outlived their usefulness (hence have resort to competition in building military institutions in their home towns) while insecurity have escalated & lives are being gruesomely lost.Yet this is all a leader can offer his beleaguered citizens?

Every single day hundreds of Americans are gunned down due to gun violence.

Congress has not asked Trump to remove the director of Homeland, nor asked Mayors and City officials to sack police chiefs.

During GEJ he changed the service chiefs with little effect.

The truth is, the forces are poorly trained and poorly funded, with bodies like the Police Service Commission not doing their jobs. Also, there's a serious deficit of armed personnel to go round, and the little we have are poorly equipped and poorly motivated.

Rather than ask that Service Chiefs be removed every time, the national assembly ought to pass bills securing greater funding and accountability to recruit, train, arm, deploy and motivate the armed forces. They could start by reducing their annual budgets and creature comforts.

If the military cannot contain a few bandits and jihadists, i wonder what happens if Cameroon decides to invade Nigeria.

Whenever PDP and their goons start pushing a narrative, sit down and check it properly.

They most likely have an underlying plan tied to it.

Those service chiefs might be there till the end of his term (2023).
Buhari is reluctant to replace them.
Nigeria situation is like war time.

Truth is those guys may be In the know of something that may implicate those in power so it may be in their interest to keep them. Forget all these shenanigans.
I remember when Ihejirika was there these same people started complaining that he has overstayed and is preventing people from rising in the army even though he really decimated Boko Haram then, but the same people have lost their voices in this administration that has broken the records for everything negative in the history this country.
Hypocrisy is the lifeblood of Nigeria that's why the nation has been stagnated for ages.
Re: Why Buhari Didn’t Act On NASS Resolution To Sack Service Chiefs’ by Whada: 12:09pm On Feb 09, 2020
This is the most stupid and insensitive reason a President can give to not act. He doesn't want it to appear like he's taking directives from the National assembly who represent the people that voted him in and pay his bloody salary. So in other words, by extension he doesn't want it to appear like Nigerians are giving him orders.

People who don't understand the importance of feedback, prompt action and the proper place of personal ego will always fail to produce meaningful result. I give up on this current govt but not on my country.

All that long explanation is not necessary and is just dogo turenchi!

He doesn't wanna sack them simply because he knows his cup is full and, but for them, he'd most likely have been gotten rid of in a coup ages ago!

He is doing the wrong thing just to show off?

That's if he even remembers there is a resolution.

Or that there was a meeting.

Way he acts, he is LOST.

Wash, Just forgetabourit mhen. Buhari doesn't have the balls to sack them. He wants to keep them till when he's going 2023.

Possibly he will change them when Zara or Zainab has been slaughtered like goat before he will act.

Shebi he said Book Haram has killed more Muslims than Christians. So he should prayed daughters are not caught in the act

Big Question is there enough grounds to remove or change them? Probably yes bt also debatable.
