When a nonentity has an opinion.

So Peter obi should not attend the burial of a community chief who did no wrong?

You dey craze for head.

Now this is a guy who reasons without emotions. It was politically incorrect for Obi to have put in an appearance at that funeral considering that his political enemies will sure use it against him. Obi seeks national office and openly aligning with IPOB can only be a negative to his quest
Guy Igbo have left Nigeria, they are the only smart ethnic group that know Nigeria is a failed state already. Nigeria can only get worst from now onwards and Nigeria is sure to disintegrate without war.

The Northerners do not care about who is VP, what they care about is the office of the president. Thats where the juice is.

GEJ's case was different, he was the incumbent president and leader of the ruling party. If GEJ had run for president of Nigeria without being the incumbent, he would have done badly in the North

No Igbo man has any chance of being president. Im an Igbo man but the truth must be told so that some of our people will not be lying to themselves

Never say never.

An Igboman can become the President of Nigeria but not in 2023.

This was how some people were saying Blacks couldn't be president of the United States until Barack Obama came to power.

Going to the burial or a FUGITIVE and a secessionists is very wrong. Obi just armed his rivals what to use against him in 2023 elwction. All they will do is to distribute picture of obi attending the burial of an unrepentant secessionists who is doing everything to break the country. They may accuse him of trying to win the presidency position to break the country .

I am not saying obi shouldn't have sympathize with the Kings family but he should have done it differently by sending message across.

What obi needs right now is to build bridges not indirectly burning them. Most people will see him as an IPOB ALLY NOW and he wants to rule Nigeria

So attending a burial which is a personal thing isn't okay

Let me tell you something you may not know. There isnt any Northerner that will vote an Igbo man to be President. It doesnt matter what Peter Obi did or did not do, there isnt any Northerner that will leave his his Muslim Northern brother to vote a Christian Igbo man like Obi. Not now or ever

How many Igbos vote for Hausa/Fulani president?

Funny how Igbos have ''left Nigeria'', yet are the most widely spread ethnic group across all states in Nigeria, including Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Edo, Oyo, Osun etc.

A people whose livelihoods depends on earning money in those places outside Igboland.

You hate the people that are feeding you. Deluded man.

Wait till you secede and see how quick the FG deport your asses back to the east as ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Nnamdi Kanu will give you jobs from his London residence.

You hit the nail on the head. Only that you’re wasting your time trying to reason with ndi IPOB. The truth remains that Peter Obi goofed big time. He should forget about his Presidential ambition if he is sincere and join IPOB in their quest for secession. But all I know is that his so called alignment with Biafra is fake, and only for personal gains. Let him leave the spotlight for other serious Igbo politicians. He has been so fake from day one.

Most of the people you’re trying to reason with are IPOB members at day and PDP members at night. So take them serious at your own peril. These are same group that voted for Atiku and the same group fighting for PDP in Imo state. This the main reason I hardly visit the cyberspace because all I see are bunch of followers whose presence online reeks illiteracy. I only blame those who think IPOB represents the Igbos because of the loudness of some dumb few.

So because of political ambition, he should abandon his people?
Brotherly, if building bridges meant hidding the fence, then that's imbecility.
Obi did perfectly well to attend the burial.

I agree with the OP. Obi is already loved in the east, he needs to focus more on winning other regions. If Obi gets the ticket to run in 2023, whether he attended this burial or not, he would still get full and undiluted support from Igbos and all IPOB members. Attending the burial has only given room for unnecessary campaign of calumny against him by other regions in future elections. For political expediency, he could have still aligned with ipob without physically being present on the front seat.
This is why I say that the igbos still have huge lessons to learn in the game of politics. They play politics with emotions instead of high strategy game. They think politics is ludo instead of chess.
If Obi still wants to play national politics, he should have avoided IPOB related activities. He could have supported them underground but not openly. IPOB has declared other tribes their arch enemy, especially the Yorubas and Hausa Fulanis. These are the same tribes you need to get any national elective position in Nigeria. How does Obi expect Yorubas and Hausa Fulanis to support his Vice presidential ambitions in 2023?
Atiku has a high chance of clinching the president after Buhari's tenure expires, and he has already built a working relationship with Obi. I would wait to see if Atiku (a fulani man) would still present Obi as his Vice in the next elections. Remember Obi was given to Atiku by a Yoruba man - Obasanjo.

It would have made sense if ipob was already a political force in the south east, and their support in essential for wining elections, but IPOB has zero political value in the south east.

The same political naivety. It's through political power he can help his people. So not attending a 1 day funeral is equivalent abandoning his people?

When I saw the picture of him and Abaribe, I knew he really goofed.
Abaribe is already a senator for his constituency and only needs their votes but not national votes unlike Obi who might be going for the presidency or vice and needs votes from all zones.

He might just end up going for senate because he going for anything national is already dim.
We all can remember how pictures of the Hero beer was used against him in the last election because of the rising sun logo on it.
it still didn't stop him from winning 47% of south west votes even after massive rigging

Imagine when he is coming out as VP for Tambulwal and getting massive northern support...lol

But the distribution of Buhari's comment on the media about his desire for the total implementation of Sharia in Nigeria (this also happens to align with the vision of Boko Haram), did not stop him from winning presidency. Which is supposed to scandalize Nigerian voters more: Obi associating with the parents of the IPOB leader or Buhari agreeing with Boko Haram ideology?

As if the country is one first-world that Igbos are dying to lead. Is the country moving forward? Is it respected even by our closest neighbours? Any Igbo man or even Southerner aspiring to contest for presidency should for the sole purpose of facilitating the restructuring or even dissolution of this trap hole.

It's obvious that BMC have prepared lots of threads to demonize Nnamdi Kanu when the parents burial will turn bloody

Unfortunately for BMC, the burial was peaceful and they started attacking anything Igbo, Ipob.

I call on all Igbos to stop commenting on this thread and any thread about Igbos or Ipob.

We all know that you guys dread the day the Igbo elites will demand Biafra. The position of the Igbo masses had been clear from day one,but somehow a badly structured Nigeria continues to lure our politicians with corruption coated carrots.

I truly can't wait for 2023 election. The only barrier holding Biafra is the Igbo politicians. The very day they realize that it is impossible for them to attain the highest position in the land because they are Igbos, then Biafra is here. cool

Ndigbo will not be the ones to beg Nigeria for presidency. grin

I am happy that you are solidly behind Mr Peter Obi.

I am also happy that Obi attended the burial NOT necessarily because I support IPOB but because Nigerians need freedom, including the freedom of ANY citizen to aspire to ANY office regardless of his ethnic or religious background.

Actions like this will test and determine the extent to which we want to allow for that freedom.

Igbo were building bridges but all they got was insults and ridicule. Post civil war Igbos were blackmailed with a lot of 'do-this-or-you-won't-be-president' rhetorics. With all they've done, Yet what have they gotten in return? Nothing! Nada! except chants of 'Igbos will never be president'.

Now they are tired and are telling to go 'fuxk yourself!', when you are tired of trying to manipulate and blackmail them by dangling your rotten presidential carrots you can take a hike to hell and burn there. Presidency gba kwa oku!

By 1979, just nine years after the civil war, Dr Alex Ekwueme and Hon Umu-Ezeoke became vice president and speaker of the House of Reps respectively.
Ebitu Ukiwe becane Military V. President and many Igbo politicians became Senate President between 1999-2007.

Igbo have fared well in the post civil politics of Nigeria except for the 2015-date when for the first time since 1960, the Igbo political establishment are in opposition to the Federal Government.

The one he contested in 2019 without going to any ‘forbidden burial ceremony’, didn’t you declare Atiku guilty-by-association for picking a ‘nyamuree/okoro’ as his running mate?
