So your response is a bunch of nonesense.
You post some white people's names, call them white linguists and then say they said this ...
Wtf is wrong with you and your low self esteemed person. You even talk about facial characteristics ? What is this nazi Germany ?
Jesus.

Cultural practices !!!
Hai, there is something wrong in your head, to the whites all our cultural practices are the same. Be it Igbo, Edo, ijaw...the same to the white.

Let me inform you that the origin of a people is not determined by linguists who specialize on the study of languages. It is determined by historians who study the passed.

You are here making threats, the Ikwere and all Anioma have already told you they are not Igbo, you just want to force your own identity upon others.
I used to pity you guys, but I hope Nigeria breaks up and you guys get an other lesson which will soon come.
After 3 million of you guys were killed and I felt pity for you, you are the ones trying to force others and to make threats... You have started it again, the next lesson will soon come. You will watch how Anioma and Ikwere will join the fight against you the southeastern predators.

The way Igbo just feel it is their right to force other people..
This is nauseating and I really am getting to understand why the civil war happened.
Right now I can't wait for the war to start, you will hopefully be the first person I meet on the battlefield.
Congrats you have made yourselves an other sworn enemy, keep it going untill your next disaster starts again.

Don't be stupid. Igbo and Edo culture are not the same and can never be. This one that you're saying Anioma and Ikwerre will fight against us ala na pu gi. You think Chukwuka of Delta state will fight Chukwuka of Anambra or Nnamdi of Rivers state will fight Nnamdi of Abakiliki. Lol. Anuofia!
Don't even try it! We are watching to see how you handle the umu ndi igbanke in Edo State. Any kakle and you guys will know that we are not a majority tribe in name only. Onyiberibe!!!

KUDOS!!
Very insightful.
I wonder why Edo nationalist extremists (not the moderates) don't go into Yenegoa, Ahoda west(Akinima) and Degema to lay claim of omo blah blah blah Edo. But rather they can't stop laying claim to Anioma and Onitsha.

I wonder who the extremists you refer to are. Benin people are going to those places you mentioned and meeting these descendants. From Warri (Olu of Warri palace) to Ga people of Accra in Ghana. The clips are on you-tube.

Nobody lay claims to No-one. People believed to descend from Benin have a right to be told. Those people also have the right to refuse to come into the fold.

What I do not get is someone from Imo or Ebonyi telling us that Onitsha or Anioma people cannot be told what our common history says.

For example when Benin people visited Degema, many people there felt they were abandoned all these years as Benin people didn't seek them out. They began to come out with stories their late parents and grandparents told them about their Benin origin.

Many across West Africa were told by now late family members of their Benin origin but just didn't know where or how to start searching. Some just do not have the drive or means, amidst daily struggle for survival. Including Ga people of Ghana I have met in Diaspora.

As much as Igbo people claim descending from Gad, what percentage of Igbo have gone to Israel to seek their Gad tribe origin? When Igbo go it's as Christian pilgrims by and large. Whereas I have seen Israelis visit Igbo land including Obu Gad in Aguleri.

One has to be open-minded and learn about and from others.

Dis is not a battle for supremacy and to gain knowledge about history..
Personally i blv d ijaw nations came out due to franchise...
I mean dat diff ethnic group of diff migration theory combining as one...
Someone clearly stated dat u cant tell d history of ijaw correctly if u dont mention BENIN...

D simple truth BENIN was an empire dat experience several wave of migration at diff times due to d actions of d diff emperors..
Dis explain d urohobo, isoko, itsekiri partly, esan, akoko, afemai, ikwerre and eppie attissa is not an exception...

D yorubas today bcame a big ethnic group due to merger of ethnic nationality dat claim same ancestry, 150yrs back dere was nttin like yoruba,it was oyo, illesha, ijebu, owo, ekiti on their own...

Now imagine if all dis ethnic group who claim to migrate from benin decides to come together won't it b wonderful...

Pls no insult...

On the Yorùbá you are completely wrong

This is my Second thread after that pidgin Battle thread that Hit FP. Damn I loved that Thread but this night its not about Pidgin again. Today I'll be trying my Best to save my Maternal Tribe's language called Epie-Attisa. spoken Predominantly in Yenagoa the Capital city of Bayelsa State. And the Fourth major language in Bayelsa After Izon ,Nembe and Ogbia. Epie is an Delta Edoid language normally spoken by The Natives of Yenagoa who have a myth of Migrating from Benin. But that is Changing as most young folks from 30 to 1 year olds can't speak the Language because of the Nativization and Creolization of English and Pidgin especially in the Niger delta. So tonight I'll try my best to preserve this languages by storing its words and Sayings here on Nairaland plus Translations.

Yess But the language is dying fast fast.
It's not... Infact your dialect is a clan under the Urhobo language... My father's town Ekameta in Delta State close to bayelsa speak exactly the same though I can't speak it but I understand it very well for I speak the ughelli dialect of Urhobo.
Ever wonder why your dialect is similar to the ofoni people's?

Yeah... And the creation of States really put a lot of Urhobo clans in different states... From Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers... (The ones I know so far)
