in term and time of emergency they have no choice, if they prove too stubborn the state would commandeer the facilities to its temporary use.
why not set up your mosques to use or tell muric to set his own up

Well, if there's an outbreak in Nigeria, the church authorities have every right to refuse too, for reasons best known to them, no one can force them.
Even if they accept, I won't put it past them to accept only card-carrying members of their Church lol.
A state of emergency ... The president can take them all !!

The church is bigger than the state. If you talk of commandeering a church like winners. Wow! Better write your last will.

Dear Op, so you can't convert private owned hospitals in each state for such purposes, you had to talk about large churches not fitted for such emergency purposes??!... What sort of a backward reasoning is that??!...

Every state has at least a major hospital at her disposal for such cases... It is not like we will have something worse than China or Italy... I wonder why you people reason so ridiculously far!!! Why put up such unnecessary posts??!

Una go just dey form half witted intelligence... Better expend more time in pushing your health ministry to do what they should have done over a month ago, instead of trying to add religious crisis to the panic room we have on ground.

@op, so let me ask you, what was the several useless government we had, paid taxes to, got harassed and yet didn't do much for us not be proactive to think of situation like this long time ago. If churches like winners were as dull as the government is, do you think you would have enlisted them. So don't start what you can't finish.

Rather tell government to be more proactive in future.

The useless Buhari has not address the nation for the past 6yeaes, she he is the one to commandeer, o fe in sire

When oyibo was busy building medical laboratories, Nigerian men, pastors and politicians were busy building Churches.
Now everyone is waiting for the West to produce the cure for Coronavirus so we can all cry on social media for them to help us.

Shame of the gullible people of Nigeria.

Unlike churches, mosques belong only to God. Imams and caretakers are only there to help and earn blessings. So there is absolutely no problem in using mosques if God forbid, such a dire emergency happens.

If only you guys know how much these churches invest on health and community service. Even the government can't measure up. I doubt if any other religious organization does as much.

Thats when the memvers will stage an uprising. They wont stage that uprising for a common good or for bad governance but touch their god daddies or their temples where they worship money

There's no mosque in Nigeria that can sizably carry large numbers of people. Btw I am a very long standing protege of Bishop Oyedepo. What I said here I can suggest to him to his face. And he would think the idea makes sense. Of course this suggestion is predicated on if the churches close down in an outbreak.
I hope he doesnt slap you sha. He wil say you are posessed

I hope things don't get bad as it is was in Wuhan and Italy, those church would gladly release the buildings to the government. 300 deaths in 24hrs is no joke.

I hear Italy thinking about converting hotels too inorder to accommodate more sick peeps.

You only displayed your level of stupidity by mentioning the churches. Let me assure you that your plans are dead on arrival. Churches are not isolation center. Go back to your reckless irresponsible government to tow the lanes of other countries by doing the needful.(quote author=HigherEd post=87570357]Considering the fact that Nigeria as it is currently run does not have the capacity to build a 1000 bed hospital in just days. It is imperative to identify already existing resources that can be used to cater for thousands of infected patients in a potential outbreak.

Amazingly, in terms of structure, some enclosed Nigerian buildings may prove so useful for a whole number of reasons. Personally, I have always argued that government should work with churches and incorporate their facilities with NEMA as potential temporal facilities to accommodate large numbers of people during intense national crisis. Of course, there's need for government to build her own facilities as the Churches built theirs for a reason.

But with the Covid19 potential outbreak, Churches are not going to be operational for the large part. So government should begin initiating contacts with churches to see if their facilities are suitable for makeshift hospitals in case of a potential outbreak.

1st: Faith Tabernacle Ota:

Faith Tabernacle Ota is one of the largest free span structure currently existing anywhere in the world. Worth billions of Naira. The facility can accommodate 53,000 worshippers at any given time. It can therefore accommodate between 3,000 - 3,500 beds. With it being fully Air conditioned, it is independent of external ventilation.
Another feature which makes it an ideal place for mass treatment of potential infected patients from South West Nigeria is that it is run by an independent power plant with a 21 year record of having 24/7 electricity.

Lastly, a two minutes drive eastward into the Church's university is one of the country's most viable molecular and virology laboratories, which can be used to test patients.[/quote]

The state cannot try that... I believe if the need be the church would release it... but if it's by force , the church will never try such...they steals and fly abroad to treat themselves now they are looking for facilities to use...many reseasonable governors built edifice , the likes of Okorocha, Akpabio, Dickson , Udom... Even in China , despite their mighty temples, their govt didn't force anybody to release their facilities, but rather withing SEVEN DAYS , they built a govt own hospital facilities for the covid-19 purpose....
