When God wipe your tears you won't even remember you have ever cried. Remember going on WhatsApp and other platforms asking for vacancy, done so many odd jobs, worked in a feedmill for free and so on. Got a federal job in an agency the pay is lovely that it shocked me all thanks to God.

After I saw how my dad suffered to raise the two of us I and my sibling till the company he was working with went down. We started living from one aunt house to uncles houses. I have been thrown out on four occasions, accused of stealing on many occasions, starved by family, disowned by my own mother who is in the abroad sending monies to different people in Nigeria and disregarding her son because I looked like my father. At 21 I moved to ibadan, stayed with a friend, dumped by my gf, Hustled to get my cert, did my Nysc, hustled more, bought a land at ibadan, bought my first car, bought another car, moved down to Lagos, rented a apartment.

Now I have a unisex salon, a boutique, a car listed on Bolt, and Presently working on roofing my project.

It’s not been easy. Not all women are mothers.

I am not yet out of poverty physically, but mentally I am liberated and my story is about to change for Good.

I was born into an extremely poor family. Seven of us including my parents lived in a one-room face-me-and-slap-me apartment in the most wretched slum in Lagos.

I remember I did all manner of odd jobs to survive. I awked different food items like fufu, eba, fried yam, Eko, kerosene etc. The only job I grew up knowing my father with was Okada riding. Many a time he would have an accidents that require money, mum would be crying and run around to burrow for his medical bills while I would be helpless. Life was always from one debts to another

When I wanted to write Waec and Neco exams, there was no money to register, my dad took me and we started begging for money from his friends to another. Someone finally gave us the money and I wrote the exams successfully.

After high school, a friend of mine called me to teach Physics in a secondary school 'cos I was very good in the subject. I went for Interview with other four candidates who are ND holders and graduates. I was asked to teach SS3 and I did. To my amazement the students preferred me and the principal employed me. He asked for my certificates, told him I just finished high school the previous year, he was dumbfounded and told me not to ever tell the students I was a university graduates. My pay was just 6k per month. I worked there for about a year and left when the school began to owe.

One day, a cousin of mine dropped by at our house and asked if I could work as a sales boy, With enthusiasm I said "yes". He, without delay connected me to the owner of the Ethanol business I started working. My boss so much loved me for my honesty and most times left the business for me to run ideocyncratically. I made some money and started writing exams to get to university and supporting family at home.

Due to government policy at that time and my boss taking too much money out, the business was no longer lucrative and I was not making much anymore. I started spending all my saving to survive. Fortunately, I got admission to the university, but there was no money anymore to sponsor myself. Dad had to go borrow again and to repay with his Okada business.

Aside school fees, I could not afford to get an accommodation for my self and mum suggested I live with my cousin who already had a family. That was a big relief but I paid the price. I was practically used as a slave in that house. I was like a maid, anyway I did not complain since it did not affect my education. I took care of their kids, bathed them, cooked for them, did house chores and did everything a maid would do. All for me to be able to eat and lay my head in a place.

One day, my cousin asked me to always go to the site with him on Saturday to work rather than staying at home. I explained to him that I used my Saturday to study as I was aimig for first class that time. It did not go down well with him and he stopped giving me Transport fare to school. I had to adjust and only go to school twice a week, sometimes my colleagues would donate money for me to be able to attend class 'cos my place of abode was quite far from campus. Even though some of my friends wanted me to live with them, mum adviced me against it and I stuck living with my cousin for the duration I spent in school.

Inspite of all the challenges I faced in school, I graduated with the best result in my department, being the only person with CGPA close to first class. I was pained I could not make first class.

After graduation, life became harder as I could not secure a job. I got a laptop and a modem and started sending unsolicited jobs application after NYSC. It was as if all forces were working against me. I would get to the final interview and not hear from them again. I was so depressed and felt sick that I had to go to Luth for treatment. Life became harder at home and mum was always sad and crying. I was tempted to do something unlawful but my Bible trained conscience would not allow me.

Later, I got a job in a private school that paid about 48k monthly and gave accommodation. I was happy I would leave home and get something doing. However, the working environment was hell on earth. We were treated like prisoners. I endured working there for 2 years and saved some money to pursue a master's degree, thinking I would be able to get a better job with that. I was wrong!

During my master's programms I ventured into different kind of businesses including.. Mmm, crypto currencies, home lessons etc. Would have made a breakthrough in crypto but made a costly mistake that made me lose all my money.

After school I came back to Lagos to start hurting for jobs again. I did all I could to get jobs nothing was forthcoming. Then I met someone who base in the UK and we started talking about business. I came up with starting online tutoring since I love teaching. We worked on getting the website running and other parameters. We did this for a whole year tirelessly but we had setback and could not continue.

My depression level heightened and I almost giving up when I met this sweet lady from the US.

It's funny how poor men's kids think studying medicine and surgery or dying on top of ur books is a way out of poverty. It's not. How one starts matters alot, I noticed doctors are the most economical of all workers I know. Those you see with fancy hospital have parents who have climb the leather of success to a certain level and their kids took it up from there. If you start too small, except there a special devine calling or grace, my friend u can't reach your full potentials, quote me anywhere. I envy kids from Rich home, but the irony of it, often times these kids aren't even too focused on life achievements, neither do they value nor know exactly what God has done for them.

I was born with a Silver Spoon but things were a bit rough growing up, I studied at the prestigious MIT In the United States, I graduated with a First Class, earned $120,000 per year after graduation, got promoted after a few years, I have been working as a partner occupying the role of Technical Manager with Microsoft for over 11 years and earn $325,000 a year before taxes including bonuses.

Today, I look at my life and realize how far i have come, every year i donated half of my salary to the person who needs it most.

Well I came in thru a student Visa as such it was easy to bring my wife and son then we had another child here in the states. However you know the issue with American Visa for Nigerians now.

This days people go for Canadian PR. All you need to do for that is to evaluate your Transcripts and do IELTS general exams. You don't need to pay any agent for this.

After I finished my degree, waiting to be posted for NYSC , everything became tough, in fact my mom and my younger sis make life tough for me by seeing me as parasite at home, I searched for job and the highest pay was 10k teaching job, I said no I won't do it, I won't settle for less, it get to a stage where my mom started hiding foodstuffs from me, she will only cook food for herself and for my sis, after 4 months of waiting to be mobilised and not been mobilised due my result that isn't ready in sch as a result of my inability to pay 5k reg fee in my final year. I called my friend that live in the city that I want to come and stay with him while I search for some jobs and work pending the time I'll be mobilised, I get to the city, my friend too was managing in his friends single room, with me then we make 3 in that room, I got to know they were Gee boys, they will me laughing at me whenever I went out to submit application letters, they were not rich but they are getting money for feeding and partying weekends, I told them to teach me work but they couldn't, so one day, I spy on my friend phone lock pattern, copied the contact on his well paying client, nurse the client for 4-5 months without him giving me kobo, always telling me he is broke but always giving my friend money, but today, I'm building my house from him, Livin fine, got married , bought my car, taking care of mom and my sis and my maga still paying till date ,may he not fall victim of Coronavirus .

N.B, he started paying me the same week my friend told me to leave their room as they were seeing me as a lower class to them as I couldn't afford to drink and dine with them

so you really call this a testimony? Reaping from another man sweat...is this the legitimate hustle your mate are doing? Just know that karma is real an whatever u sow that u shall reap, if not now, in future

I don’t know if I can bear to write how GOD elevated me from trench of poverty to relatively better life. Now, I’m living and raising my kids in the USA. Tears run down my eyes anytime i think about my past and growing up in Nigeria and watching my kids enjoying what was luxurious in my own. I lost my mom when I was 15yrs, my dad a year after my mom and the year I was writing WAEC. As the first son with two younger brothers and two older sister who got married immediately after his school and NCE. This story is for another day because i suffered. My African-American wife could not imagined my trauma. If you see any guys birthed between 70s and mid 90s from a poor family and always angry, please be tolerant with them. It was the period the few educated baby boomers were financially wasteful and the gap between the wealthy and the poor became so wide. We started paying for high schools in the early 90s, walked over 20 miles to and from school and my short pant patched. I had to seek medical help for my anger because i never knew it was a problem as a result of years of sufferings. Poverty nah disease and worst down corona virus.

It started like this. Immediately i finished my SSCE I was called by my single mother to know the kind of handwork I want to learn. So my uncle who was former board commissioner in Ogun State decided to get me job at the age of 19 with salary of 7k in 2006 Jan 3rd. So from there I started saving up 4k in a month a and spends 3k on other things. In 2007 I enrolled for OND in estate mgt at MAPOLY by which fees, rent was buy me. I could not chose medics course in university because Mum already told me she did not have power to send me to schl. In 2010 I put in for HND in estate mgt, in 2017 I put in for conversion programme at the Bells Ota now I am B.tech holder which I will tender soon in the office. Presently I av moved from lower cadre which I do flush toilet for Permanent Secretaries in Ogun State while I was messenger to better cadre. I am now Senior EState Officer with my HND. What helped me through was the statement by a woman that I cannot express myself. Fine background tells in me but I glorify God. I don't look down on anyone and I believe people can learn from me. During this journey I was molested, maltreated, disappointed but I never allowed any to draw me back. The only painful thing in my story is by July I will clock 33 as a single. Ain't feminist but training n focusing affected me with my strong decision

I will be 31 by April. I got a BSC in information technology from NOUN. Currently seeking direct entry admission in dentistry. That means that I might be closer to 40 before I am ready for marriage. (Unless a girl would agree to go by with me and hope for tomorrow).

I am currently employed(almost done with quitting tho), but I would be unfilled if ten years gets here and I haven't done anything more. I am old already in the world sense of the word, but I won't give up and live for others rather than what my mind and knowledge is telling me I can be.

Many positive words and quotes gets me going.

The first one is the quote made in the American seasonal movie "One Tree Hills". An admired aged sports coach said to a group of his students: "You know what I would do if I was your age? I would do everything"

The second one is the story of the founder of Kentucky fried chicken (KFC). He was nobody all his life. But at age 65 he founded KFC.

Another thing that has been a great boost to me is my vast knowledge of the vanity of this life. Anyhow you play it, life is still vain, therefore you better play it your way. (Just make sure you are still within the boundaries of God's laws and principles).

At 33, you are still young. Plus your life is more meaningful because of your education from both school and life.

Some women don't know that they can marry when they are ready just like most men marry when they are ready.

Now that you are ready for marriage, let me tell you a secret. Don't just put your self in the circumstances to be seen by a suitable suitor. Hunt for suitor.

If you go to some good places, you can see men in 30s and 40s determined and responsible but not yet "settled". Can you see a potential and marry the potential rather than already-made?

Hospitals, Universities, Radio station, the press, markets etc. You can locate responsible men there who are determined but not yet "settled".

Can you hunt down a struggling male nurse who is determined but not buoyant enough for wedding expenses? A university staff? A radio presenter? A kerosine retailer?

Just study the skill of 'husband-seeking' carefully, so as not to be love-duped.

Grew up in a ghetto in Lagos where we were oppressed by OPC everyday. There were public lynching and ethnic cleansing conducted by the OPC.

Then we were oppressed by the police. After OPC have had their way and killed whom they pleased, the police would extort us and beat us severely if you dared to oppose

Then there were the thieves that would raid every house in the ghetto. Robbing and raping and killing. Fortunately, we were never attacked by any of those but I saw it so many times that I got desensitized to the deaths and charred bodies that lined up the street everyday.

It wasn’t funny!

Those dreaded OPC days.
