overrated doesn't mean they aren't good but their fans constantly comparing them to someone greater is what I mean by overrated.

If you ask an average Nigerian who is better between kanu and okocha most of them will mention okocho even though he never won anything personally significant and he is only known for his dribbles.

You didn't have to bring Messi to this, the reason I called maradona overrated is because his fans think of him as s God while in fact he's a fraud.

He played 490 official club games during his 21-year professional career, scoring 259 goals; for Argentina he played 91 games and scored 34 goals.

He won a world cup by cheating and if they were var during his era he would have been called a fraud and laughed out
[/s]

In international football Messi can not lace Maradona's boots. But Maradona is overrated, according to a clown like you. Small boy.

Okocha overrated??
Maradona overrated??

You see why people always attack you Messi indomie fans...

You think if Messi and Ronaldo played football in the time of such players, they'd have up to 5 ballondors??

For you to call maradona overrated shows the kind of person you Messi fans are, only Messi isn't overrated... A maradona that lifted a Napoli to league titles winning best player and golden boot along the way... A maradona that put Argentina on the football map?

Alright Messi is the only non overrated player in the world

Okocha overrated? Really??
A master of midfield that carried a dead Bolton team playing with unskilled players like Davies and Jameel etc??
A midfield maestro that combined skills with dribbles even inventing his own step overs.. A great passer of the ball, freekicks, shoot technique... Really?
maradona didn't put Argentina in the footballing map . Get your facts right and stop spewing stuff like this .

that guy is the most overrated player I've ever seen even more overrated than maradona.

The guy just did done flicks and showboating and Nigerians now considered him as the best even many Nigerians still believe he's better and greater than Messi and Ronalddinho.

His greatest achievement is the goal against Oliver Khan which is barely above average.
maradona? Overrated? Okocha is overrated but maradona ? Maradona or messi are probably the best football players ever .

I disagree. Yekini was a good striker but he has been replaced time and over again by equally talented strikers like Odemwinge, KANU, odion ighalo, obafemi martins, kalu brothers; victor ikpeba, Julius agahowa, victor aghali etc. The list is endless however nobody has been able to fill in the gap left by JJ till this day. Now that's a great player.

you are funny, you must really be an indomie generation , talking about ighalo near yekini, how many goals did all those your strikers score compared to Yekini, till today no nigerian striker has broken yekini record whereas in most countries their highest goal scorers record are being shattered left right and centre by their new generation strikers. it shows our quality of strikers after yekini

That mikel is included in d argument is a pointer to the fact that dude did his best and is surely among d best naija will ever hav. Some peopl are not just too hapi about d choice he made going to chelsea as for me i think that was d best choice of his life. It was a road not taking. Chelsea was a blessing to Mikel and on dt field he lay claim to every trophy any African player would crave to hav even more dan any black that played for man united. And he always do his best which were always gud in big game talk of d final of d champions league and even d Africa nations cup. Mikel is our own and he is one of d greatest Nigeria would ever hav. Let us respect him. Just like okocha he would hav won African player of d year award if not for french speaking countries ojoro.

Lol... Maradona a fraud??

Someone that raised a dead Napoli?

Someone that won world cup golden ball??

Someone who wasn't a forward and still scored that amount of goals??
nah , maradona was a forward , he's just similar to Messi . Plays behind a striker , he can play as a false nine or a central attacking midfielder .

Don't let Napoli fans and Bolton Wanderers fans catch you, they will beat the living daylight out of you.
Do you know what Maradona achieved? He went to Napoli, a club that had never won the Serie A before. He didn't go to AC Milan, Juventus, or Inter Milan, he signed for lowly Napoli, and guess what, he dislodged those three teams almost single handedly. Until very recently, he was even still Napoli's record goal scorer. Maradona is a god in Napoli. What of the 1986 world cup? Maradona delivered spectacularly for Argentina. Much as I like both Messi and Maradona, if I can select only one of them, I will select Maradona. Maradona is a natural leader, an enabler, also Maradona is willing to do anything to ensure his team wins.
You also mentioned Okocha as being overrated? Really? If you accuse Okocha of being playful, I will agree, but overrated, never. In fact Okocha was grossly underrated. Free kicks, long accurate passes, long range shooting, hold up play, creative dribbling are just a few of his skills; many of which are sadly lacking in today's attacking midfielders. If Okocha had played for much bigger clubs I am sure he would have won many more laurels.

Vincent Enyeama for me,any day

one guy people are not even considering, he is our greatest goalkeeper ever with a very weak defence in his days, the rufais and other great nigerian keepers had better defenders shielding them. imagine as a keeper having Eguavoen, okechukwu, taribo west and keshi as your defenders compared to Oboabona and Omeruo. Great respect to Enyeama!

Bro sorry I forgot to mention Yak. My point is that strikers have never been our problem (until recently tho). Those strikers I mentioned have delivered for Nigeria in local/African parlance like yekini. However those guys have scored more than yekini at club level during their time. Are u seriously gona say YAK & OBAGOAL were dwarfed by yekini? Common bro.

Bro, let's be sincere. Push sentiment aside.

Messi has taken his country to world cup finals. Be honest. Aint that something?

For me, I think second in world cup is more respectable than 1st in continent. Please give it to him. Messi has tried. Haba!

Stop watching football, cause u obviously know nothing about it

Anyone who didn't really watch football 80's, 90's or early 2000's have no real knowledge of the game

Their knowledge is basically football the "sport" not football the "game" hence they are prone to talking shiit

What was so special about yekini? He was a classic box-to-box striker like ighalo & Agahowa. maybe the slight difference was his speed despite his size.
Odemwinge, martins on the other hand could switch up from 9 to 8 to 7 sometimes and they scored mad goals for club and country. Same thing with KANU.
BTW okocha was fully in Nigeria squad of 1994 that won the nations cup & 2nd round KO of usa94.
Re: Who Is Really Nigeria's Greatest Footballer? by theDEVILisHERE: 5:39pm On Apr 01, 2020
Okocha remains the greatest
He excelled as a super eagles player, and is respected worldwide for his club performance even more than those who won trophies
Remains a well known star in every country he played
His performance is a worldwide spectacle

Kanu only did well at age grade
was a poor super eagles player

Mikel had a poor club carrier, never excelled as an individual star club wise

Okocha it is, no contest

Football sucks nowadays....
No creativity, no exceptional skills, no jaw dropping goals, no passion, no drive, no loyalty, no ambition....
It's all about the money...
Everything now na pass, shoot n score...
No wonder the likes of Messi n CR7 can dominate the game for over 12 yrs now, and no one looks close to challenge them....
I see that PSG boy mbappe n I wonder...what's the hype....

Mourinho destroyed football...
He was the one who introduced negative football, all in the name of trophy...
Alex Ferguson contributed his own by winning matches with significant help from the '12th player'....
Arab boys and their money miss road attitude was the final nail on the coffin....
Now see the aftermath...
Wenger warned us...but we wouldn't listen...
It's not about the trophy, but beauty of the game...

Recently, I watched the review of 49 games unbeaten of 'the invisible' and I ponder if the game is not retrogressing....

it really sucks

And yes Morinho and the other tactical win at all cost coaches have destroyed the game
Making it possible for 2 clowns not even talented as Roberto Baggio to call themselves greatest

Its a bland pile of shiit now

No creativity, no raw talent, no emotions, no passion, no Expression, no ART!

A team that got to the WC finals twice B4 maradona started playing for them and had won the Copa America like 7 times B4 Diego started ?
