My Toyota Camry Headache by Kingsdave(m): 8:31am On Apr 04, 2020
Help me out please... I have noticed as of late , when my car is parked for some hours let's say 5-10 hrs... Once I start it ... Engage either drive or reverse ... The rev counter near the speedometer will be revving but the car will be moving slowly no matter how much I press the pedal... It does that for about 10 mins before it moves fine... What's wrong

For no of litres, I don't know. It's usually about 4 litres. That gearbox has a dipstick, use it to check. Download the manual and follow the quantity stated there.
For the mechanic side, do not allow him wash your filter. It's either he replaces it or let it be.
I don't know if the trans fluid should be drained when it's hot or cold but to be on the safe side, allow things to cool down and then drain.
Make sure the surrounding area is clean and mechanic doesn't get debris into your transmission.
Get him a clean funnel. Many a transmission have been killed by sand particles falling into the filling hole. It gets the solenoids stuck later on or causes other issues.
Infact consider this a surgical operation. Keep all contaminants out at all cost.
Make sure the drain bolt is also clean before being reused. Don't allow him to just swipe it on his coverall and still in back in there with all the lose sand it gather from where it fell.

modern cars this days are built with carefully planned obsolescence, most modern cars are made to last the warranty years after that you are on your own,the reason they didn't bother about a dipstick is that they know the transmission will last the 60 months or 60,000 miles power train warranty no need to even change the oil,so if you are driving such cars above 100,000 +miles you will be sure to see some nasty surpises

It is a complicated proceedure. Watch a YouTube video to what is required because most mechanics have no clue on this particular transmission.

I went to the Mechanic today... He also recommended WS ... I bought it ... Thou I packed the car at his place for 3 hrs... When I came back... He said no need leaving the car over night... He said u only need to leave car overnight of u wanna change gear or shaft... That leaving for a long period doesn't make sense at all... He said he will service the gear filter with injector cleaner and fuel if the gear filter is still iron filter , if not, he will buy another filter .... I wasn't satisfied with leaving the car for just 3 hrs I went home...

Its been a month plus... When he removed the bottom plate to remove the oil.. No single oil was found in my gear box.... He had to wash the gear selector with fuel and tinner cos the gear is almost burnt... The worst is that when the car came to naija last 2years , during servicing they didn't remove the gear oil way oyibo man use for the car...the little gear oil was like water ... So black....... I had to leave the car at his shop came back the following day.. Before he poured the WS oil... He said if we did pour it immediately without washing the gear selector underneath... It will jam the gear...
