With the recent brouhaha surrounding the 5G network all over the world, prompting the Federal government to issue a statement that nobody has been licensed to operate a 5G network, I stumbled across this memo from MTN Nigeria saying they have tested 5G in Nigeria.

No Licence For 5G Network In Nigeria – FG

The Federal government says no license has so far been issued for 5G deployment in the country. In a statement issued on Saturday by the Spokesperson to the minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mrs. Uwa Suleiman, the minister said he was worried by the public concern about the health implications of the deployment of the Fifth Generation Mobile Networks (5G) in Nigeria and affirmed that the National Frequency Management Council (NFMC), of which he is the chairman had not deliberated on or released any bulk frequency spectrum for the deployment of 5G in Nigeria.

The minister maintained that no license has been issued for the deployment of 5G anywhere in the country, as the ministry is currently at the stage of studying and reporting the a 3-month study trial conducted by the ministry is ongoing.

The study, according to the statement, was sequel to a directive by the minister to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on 25th November, 2019 to ensure that a team of experts, security agencies and other stakeholders fully participate in the trial process.

The statement reads in part: ‘'The attention of my office has been drawn to the public concern about the health implications of the deployment of Fifth Generation Mobile Networks (5G) in Nigeria. Based on available records at my office and the earlier report received from the regulator.

‘’I would like to clarify as follows that: the National Frequency Management Council (NFMC), of which I am the Chairman, has not deliberated on or released any bulk frequency spectrum for the deployment of 5G; no license has been issued for the deployment of 5G in the country.

‘‘A 3-month study trial commenced on the 25th of November, 2019 in order to critically review and study the health and security implications of deploying 5G in Nigeria; as part of the study trial process, I directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ensure that a team of experts, security agencies and other stakeholders fully participate in the trial process and my office also invited these agencies to participate in the trial; and ‘‘The trial process has been concluded and the study and reporting process is currently ongoing.’’

5G only works with the new vaccine biochips they will soon be supplying. If you survive this phase of the population control programs they want to know that you are ready for elite services and tracking. Until the next round. No big deal.. Some people seem to think that COVID-19 is some kind of cyborg virus that transmits itself via radio waves grin

The Govt said they have only carried out the initial testing but no license to operate 5G network has been issued. From the available information there is at least no pranks been played by the government.
The government has its weaknesses no doubt but we should be more pragmatic in our vindictiveness/criticism

Till date, there has not been any proven connection between the 5G network and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Yes the FG in partnership with the MTN carried out a demo testing of the 5G network last year (November 2019) but this was carried out with the existing 4G network.

4G was used because 5G has not been licensed in the country. NCC is currently understudying the result and is yet to communicate their findings to the Hon Minister of Communication and Digital Economy

Did MTN test 5G in Nigeria without government's consent, approval and Monitoring?

After the testing where there sanctions from the government to check such excesses if that is the case?

Or Did MTN Nigeria do such testing with government's consent and approval?

If that is the case why is the government of the day lieing to Nigerians about the 5G?

Hello @Macphenson, it is very commendable to appreciate your concern with respect to the 5G Technology and its perceived relation to the spread of the novel Coronavirus. Truth is there is this unease with some Nigerians as to whether the 5 G technology is already in operation in Nigeria or not. Now, I think it's good to set the record straight: first, the statement of the Minister of Communication, Isa Patanmi,in relation to this is accurate and there is no discrepancy with the MTN's memo you posted. He actually mentioned it on Channel's TV while being interviewed that only a trial of this 5G technology took place last year, and that he was the one that conducted the trial. He further stated that licences were not yet given, as the Federal Government is still assessing everything about the new technology. You may check this video link:

Second, it's very important to be knowledgeable in the field of Physics and Biology or at least do ones personal research from recognized Journals before one can have a good understanding of this linkage of 5G Technology with the spread of the Coronavirus. I can tell you that Electromagnetic Waves Radiations or Frequencies have nothing to do with the spread of this virus. At least, for now, there is no reputable scientific Journal that has this information. I think some of us need to do a bit of our research on areas outside our expertise before circulating unverified information as this, which could cause panic on others, especially the illiterates who usually depend on hearsay to build their opinions. If my stance on this 5G Technology vis-a-vis its connection to this pandemic is proven wrong by a superior scientific evidence, I will gladly take back my statements.

Those individuals that are hurling insults on the Minister, talking about his choice of religion, dress code, and preferred style of appearance, should understand that it is only prudent to respect his choice of personal lifestyle, which has nothing to do with his competence. The man is surely deserving of this position judging by his profile. I'm not his PA neither have I met him in person but I think we, Nigerian youth, would do a great good for ourselves if we improve on our fact finding skills before commenting on any issues of national discourse, or any information available on the social media at all. It is well with us all.

So what?
Did the FG tell you they won't license 5G?

Better calm down or risk getting a high BP.

Oga, 5g like other networks( 0- 300ghz) have not been scientifically proven to have adverse effect on humans.
What effects has it had on countries where it is being deployed undecided before now. The only reason the whites made it controversial is simply because it was pioneered in china.
Get ur facts right and not just believe everything you see.
