COVID-19: Lifting Lockdown Now’ll Trigger Resurgence, WHO Warns Governments by Anazp: 10:08pm On Apr 10, 2020
Any premature lifting of restrictions imposed to control the COVID-19 pandemic could lead to a fatal resurgence of the new coronavirus, the World Health Organization warned Friday.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that while some states were considering ways to ease the restrictions which have placed around half of humanity under some form of lockdown, doing so too quickly could be dangerous.

“I know that some countries are already planning the transition out of stay-at-home restrictions. WHO wants to see restrictions lifted as much as anyone,” he told a virtual press conference in Geneva.

“At the same time, lifting restrictions too quickly could lead to a deadly resurgence. The way down can be as dangerous as the way up if not managed properly.

“WHO is working with affected countries on strategies for gradually and safely easing restrictions.”

Tedros spelled out six factors that should be considered before restrictions could be safely eased.

He said that transmission would have to be controlled; sufficient public health services made available; outbreak risks in care homes minimised; preventative measures imposed in workplaces and schools; virus importation risks managed; and communities made aware of and engaged in the transition.

Now, we all know that of the six factors listed above, Nigeria don't even have one in place. Even the secretary to the government of the federation doesn't know the depth of the rot in our health system.
Does it now mean that we will remain like this forever.

Today 7 discharged, 17 added, where does that lead us to?
Do WHO know that even at this time, funds meant for health are still being looted?
Do they know that we haven't received anything, cash or kind, from government?

Do they know that people are dying of other ailments and can't go to hospitals cos of money?
Do they know that hunger is another sickness on its own?

If the only criterion to lifting the lockdown is getting those 6 factors in place, then Nigeria is on an eternal lockdown

This is what happens when Governments and their masses don't have a clue about a new deadly virus that could end up being here for the next 1 year.
Lock down measures should be sustained while plans to feed their masses should be put in place and implemented immediately to prevent the people from dying of starvation.

WHO should be referring to countries that have good governance for their citizens in d sense that there is provison of cash and relief materials for all citizens and not countries like Nigerians and some Africa countries that are greedy. The mistake some organisations are making is that they are only looking at ways to end this pandemic and not looking at the disadvantages of trying to curb d it. There is always disdantages in every cases be it good or bad. The disadvantages of what WHO is insinuating is HUNGER for countries like Nigeria. Our leaders are not helping matters in anyway. No relief materials,. No cash fund. Yesterday I could barely eat I had to beg on this platform and 3 indivuals came to my aid from this same platform. Will I continue doing this everyday in d name of trying to stop d spread of convid-19. People will think am a scammer when it becomes a daily routine but truth is I cant feed if I don't coz no food but despite been said the truth still remains that the best way to control this pandemic is still to extend the lockdown seeing how the convid is still spreading but why have Nigeria govt decided to use it as an advantage to themselves enriching their pockets why we the struggling citizens have two things to worry abt(hunger and convid).
For d good people out there trying to help those in need this period may d almighty God enrich ur pockets and keep doing good. There is a reward for u.
