It is a fact that most religious people are concerned over a mark, either by a chip implantation on their hands or any part of their body. The fear is understandable since the Bible warned of a mark, to which the bearers won't be saved. It is thus a serious matter.

The mark is the one written in the book of Revelation 13. It will be good you read all of the verses in that chapter to get the context. Much speculations have been propagated on this issue, many warn their friends not to accept any health based chip on their body, they fear that this might be the dreaded mark of the beast. In my first article on this issue, I highlighted the biblical meaning of Antichrist, thereby helping us get the right perspective. What is this mark of the beast? To answer that let's first note that the book of Revelation is not a book with mostly literal interpretation. Most of it's message is symbolic.

Let's turn to that chapter 13 of the book of Revelation.

Read Rev 13:1-2

Beasts stands for governments or political powers. Check the book of Daniel 7:2-7 to see the book mention four beasts. They are a lion, a bear, a leopard and a beast with teeth of iron. Dan 7:17,23 gave us the interpretation which shows that these were political kingdoms.

However this beast at Revelation 13:1-2 combines the description of the four beasts. Secondly, Satan, the dragon, gave it power and authority. And it's influence covers all tribes and nation. (Vs 7). We thus conclude that these beast represents all political powers opposed to God and His servants. John 12:31 shows Satan to be the ruler of this world.

The divine record tells us that the beast mark, 666, is a man's number. This is where many think that a man must be referred to by this Bible portion. That is why some have reckoned many men past and present as being the beast. But as have been stated above, the beast represents political powers of this world. Amplified Bible calls it "a human number". It means that the beast is not a supernatural entity but a human entity.

Rev 13:16-18

First 666 mark stands for what? In the Bible the number 7 refers to divine completeness (gen 2:3; Ps 12:6; Prov 30:5,6; 2kings 5:10,14) six on the other hand is short of perfection. And six repeated three times is thus stressing the imperfect nature. Showing the degree at which the political entity is detached from God's standpoint or approval.

So, what's the mark? Notice that at Rev 14:1, just immediately after stating the mark of the beast, the record mentions a number 144000 having the name of God and Jesus written on their foreheads. Just a contrast to chapter 13. This could give us a clue as to the meaning of the mark of the wild beast.

The mark, whether on the hand or on the forehead accomplished the same thing - it identifies whom the bearer worships or honors. The bearer gives to the beast what is God's - worship. As such, they belongs to the beast. (Luke 20:25) How?

Since the beast is a political entity, by given worshipful honor to the country, it's symbol and it's military might, that one has shown whom he pays allegiance to. That one can't serve two masters at a time. Any worship such one gives to God while giving worshipful honor to national symbol, is not acceptable. That one shows he is with the beast, he has the mark.

So there is no such literal mark to be administered just like the 144000 does not have any literal name written on their foreheads.
