The ETF that tracks the S&P 500 rallied in after-hours trading today after a report said a Gilead Sciences drug was showing effectiveness in treating the coronavirus.

Gilead Sciences shares surged by more than 15% in after-hours trading Thursday after an industry publication said Covid-19 patients being treated with the company’s antiviral drug Remdesivir appear to have “rapid recoveries in fever and respiratory symptoms.” 

Gilead holders get set for a good ride tomorrow.
I hold some position here too; so I guess am gonna be a part of the jolly ride.

Moderna (MRNA) is up 14% today after it was announced that the US Govt awarded the company up to $483M to accelerate the development of COVID-19 vaccine. I bought an April 17th $30 call contract 2 months ago; basically I was predicting that before today 04/17, the stock price will rise past $30, the higher it goes, the more profit I make. I bought the call option since february 26th and the stock traded below $30 throughout March but then on 04/15 it finally shot up to $38 and I was relieved to see the call option go from loss to a gain of 52% or $264 and I quickly sold. I woke up this morning to see the stock had risen 14% overnight after the good news. Needless to say that call option I sold two days ago is now worth $1,690 (see screenshot), so my gain would've been $955 or 230%. I don't regret selling earlier because for over 6 weeks the trade was in the red, plus I had two days remaining before the trade expires. Sometimes you just have to be comfortable with your decision to take profit even if the stock keeps climbing. I would've been angry though If I sold at a loss and it shoots up afterwards.

The US government has agreed to provide airlines with $25 billion in bail out funds.
70% of the money will be grants that do not need to be paid back! The deal is that the airlines that agree to the deal will not lay off employees until at least September.

We had discussed airlines on this forum where I stated how they shall be good to pick up just before covid-19 is over. The time for them to flourish is still far but this news will attract some quick gains.
Amongst those on my watch list are:
American Airlines - AAL ($11.07)
Delta Airlines - DAL ( $22.78)
United Airlines - UAL ( $28.21)
South West Airlines - LUV ( $30.68)

Watch how they gain today based on this news.

Despite the $25B released as bail out for the airlines which would be duly shared amongst them, it's worthy of note to mention the debt situation on ground. As most of the airplanes acquired by AAL were the Boeing 737 Max which got grounded due to their crash issues, this burnt their hands making them incur long term debts amounting to AAL: $21.5B, DAL: 8.9B, UAL: 13.1B, LUV: $1.8B.
It's a high risk game here, however it comes with rewards.
Caveat: Not a recommendation. Do your due diligence.

There are 7 different tickers for Chesapeake Energy: CHK, CHK.PD, CHKDP, CHKDH, CHKDG, CHKVP, CHKDJ.
That explains the different prices you're being quoted

Dividends for US stocks are paid to your dollar wallet. You can also view dividends paid to you on your monthly statement available in the downloads center in the settings of the app. Please note that dividends on fractional shares take a day or two to reflect in your wallet as they dividends have to be divided amongst each holder of a portion of a share.

Try to find out if the company consolidated their stocks recently. The current price vs initial price will show. I noticed that with one of my stocks - Scorpio Bulkers (SALT) - recently, as my 100 shares reduced to 10 overnight, but the price per share also increased about 10 folds. If you are on Trove, there is likely to be a news about this in their newsfeed section. Otherwise just Google the news about the company. If this is the case, it will be automatically changed on your portfolio. The platform has no influence on this.

This could be the problem.
The US market is awash with thousands of companies.
One needs to be very careful to double-check the full names of companies we are investing in.
Most recently, many investors in US mistook the ticker symbol ZOOM for ZM and were unknowingly investing in a moribund company until the authorities had to delist it.

Reason I always indicate ticker symbols in every "STOCK FOCUS" in this forum.
