I don't think that is a problem, nairaland is running advert for them like they would have run for any organisation including u and me and any media organisation would have done same for tecno including Google.

My only area of reservation is pushing articles that deliberately misrepresented facts in an attempt to decieve innocent people to buy tecno to the front page, while the articles that enlighten people with fact are bugged down at local phone section to die quickly without getting to the real audience.

Chai, I been no one comment before but seeing those two sites up there. Omo e Don tey o. Back in sec school with my Nokia E63, sefan.ru and waptrick no dey carry last.


Well, still saving to get my first xiaomi phone. Before now would have carried my money to buy Infinix or Techno.

But I am wiser now. Currently using s7 edge Sha, but e Don tire me, so I want to change to Xiaomi...

Within a few weeks after the novelty had worn off, I finally had the phone to myself and in a few weeks was able to operate it as well as the owner could and I did mess with some settings that got me some good knocks. To me, I believed I knew a lot about phones because I had used so many. I believed (because adverts told me so) that Tecno phones were the best. In fact, myself and another corp member, Teju would argue against Maleekh and Ola on which was better between Tecno and Infinix. Looking back and seeing how it was makes me feel like pitying myself. When state allawie finally came, those two went to buy Hot 6, Teju bought W4 while I got the L9+, even convincing my roommate to do the same. The PPA was essentially divided into Tecno Vs Infinix.

Getting that L9+, I felt in my heart that no phone was better than my own or could do what it couldn't do. Then I was addicted to Dream League and N.O.V.A. legacy, playing online everyday until hackers ruined both games. When I heard brands like Le Eco and Redmi, I always felt they were useless Chinese junk that one couldn't find the parts for (the jokes on me right) and that the Samsung/HTC/Blackberry were overpriced and that my phone could match them.

The next year, even after I was robbed in a keke, I happily went to Effurun Shopping Mall to get Pouvoir 2. I convinced my girlfriend as well to get the Spark 2 even topping the cash for her to encourage her. My younger brother got the spark 2 as well and I got a fairly used P5 for another sibling. To me, Tecno was the best brand.

That was till PUBG was released. My old gaming buddy from N.O.V.A. asked me download PUBG. I said it was nonsense but he convinced me and I did download it and it worked but, I couldn't see my avatar. Only the clothes it wore. I complained to the guy and he asked me what processor I was using. Processor, I asked myself. He said only Snapdragon processors were good for gaming. What is Snapdragon I asked myself again. He understood my confusion and asked me to name my phone. I told him it was a good midranger and gave him the name. He came back and said "bro, you a smart fella, Why'd you buy a potato?". That night, I got a night sub and started to read and make notes, and read and make notes. The scales fell.

Even tho, my friend later helped me with a GFX that fixed the avatar rendering glitch on my Pouvoir 2, my experience with the phone was terrible. I cleared cache everyday, I had to restart the phone after any strenuous activity, it lagged, freezed and reboot constantly. I would enter a game, and hear other players walking and running but my game would be stuck at the loading screen. The more I read, the more disappointed I got. I read one new thing every week or at least I tried to.

On one search, the Google hit brought me to the Xiaomi thread. I followed the thread for a really long time seeing people like Genius.43, Aunty Fibo, GP.tech and grand.mufti with their knowledge and I have a lot of respect for them. They added to my knowledge. The more they spoke, the more I realized that I know nothing at all.

By 2019, I had a choice between the Samsung M series and the Redmi Note 7. I knew what I wanted. When Xiaomi came to Nigeria, I opted for the RN7. Going to purchase my phone at the Effurun mall, I could tolerate the Samsung marketer but the Infinix marketer was the one I felt like strangling. He told me that my phone go spoil and I no go see parts. I ignored and got my Redmi Note 7 on the 9th of May 2019. There's no one that has handled this phone that hasn't fallen in love with it.

This phone opened new vistas of learning, from casting to virtual and augmented reality, DSLR like camera performance from a phone, I can't even remember the last time I cleared my cache. Phone that came with Tencent and Avast antivirus.

That was when I made the decision to try and educate as many people as possible. So they wouldn't be ignorant and clueless like me in the hands of silly marketers. I am not a marketer, and I dare anyone to prove such accusation. I have been ignorant and blind and so I understand when I discuss with such persons. DrJPrince can testify I'm sure.

Seeing people who are supposed to educate the public like our resident bloggers here, misinform them is disgusting. Maybe one day I'll open a blog but I'm not in for money or fame because I'll tear down rubbish devices on air (Zach's JerryRigit) rather than lie to the people.

I admit that there is so much I do not know but I will keep learning and from the little I know will keep pushing others to learn. This post should inspire you. The people that know these things didn't come with such preprogrammed knowledge. They acquired them and so can you.

I got my Nokia 5.1 plus because of its value for money. I just love the stock android experience and the processor performance. I've used about 4 java phones and they ran butterly-smooth compare to my first android phone: "itel". Oh, the phone tormented my life. The camera had a lot of noise, it lagged that if I switch on my data I'll have to stay 5mins before something can work on the phone, everything seems to stop working, and all the bad experiences one could imagine. I sold it off to get the Infinix smart, which in some way, was better but after a month, the whole OS seems to be crashing, and crashing at the wrong time with all my project and seminar documents in it. I did my thorough research and made sure I know every component in a mobile device. Well, I'm still learning about them and I can say I'm ok with my Nokia.

I appreciate EVERYONE on the phones section for educating me.

I ended up being a Xiaomi user because I've always loved being unique/different. I never really cared about phone specs, just give me a phone that no one else uses in my neighborhood and I'm fine. from leagoo- cubot- sony Experia- fero all for the fun of being different, the only phone among aforementioned that I enjoyed was fero. I stumbled upon the Xiaomi thread but I was just happy I had found my next unknown brand, immediately I got the redmi 7 for 45k and I enjoyed it when all my friends struggle to get/pronounce my phone's name, this alone made satisfied. out of curiosity I dug deep into my phone and I immediately became a fan.
at 45k my phone:
1. controls TVs, DVDs and more.
2. earlier pixel model picture quality with gcam.
3. Corning gorilla glass 5 for protection.
4. I have even forgotten that a phone can overheat.
5. an okay processor that handles my day to day activities just fine.
6. I have actually lost count of how many OTA updates I have done (and still counting) with my phone running ok.
7. fast fingerprint/ face unlock/ 10w fast charging (which is ok considering the price)
the list goes on and on... Xiaomi is a very good brand, NOT PERFECT BUT VERY GOOD.

This is the weakness of average Nigerian, they are very lazy to read and learn new things and harden believer in whatever they are told. That is why politicians, religious leaders and marketer of goods and services takes advantage of us.

You travelled and u needs to fix something urgently from ur car and no mechanic can fix it, worst still some will not even tell u they can't do it until when they dismantled and can't reassemble again then u beginnto hear " if it was Toyota, I would have finished it" "oh Honda is very simple, just do this and it will work" at the end they will collect ur money and complicate ur car.

hahahaha... about cars if I have a few millions of naira I will have to go with the crowd and get a benz, Toyota, lexus, audi... I can only consider a not so common car when God blesses me with more millions, then I will consider cars like the dodge charger ( which is the car after my heart), Chevrolet, porchse, Ferrari, lykan hypersport... and about phones I don't see myself using an iPhone or Samsung phone in the future due to the number of people using it... I see myself circling around Xiaomi, OnePlus maybe realme...

Ryt from 2012 it has been snapdragons till date (the flaship processors)from htc g2 slide to htc inspire 4g to mytouch 4g slide to mytouch 4g to htc sensation to htc sensation extended edition to htc one x htc one s to xperia z1 mehn i no fit remember them all i have never been a fan of tecno,infinix,gionee,injoo,wiko,itel and d like,i hate mtk from the onset.i have been a savvy user till date.i have been playing with phones right from the symbian days hacking,get the best out my fones.i read alot about phone follow reviews know alot abt socs with these knowledge nobody fit CAJOLE me into buy scrap no matter how cheap it is.i rather buy a used snapdragon even if it is two years older then buy a new scrap/mtk device because i know what i want.I really hope i would try xiaomi some day,back in d day i njoy their custom roms on my htc fones.

Nice writeup, my first Android phone was an Infinix Race Bolt. That phone divided opinions like no other, it seems there were some quality assurance issues with some batches. I was lucky to have one of the better ones, others weren't so lucky. That phone was the first phone I know of that was labeled as a hot plate (probably where Infinix got the inspiration for their hot series from). Luckily for me that was the only Transsion device I ever bought. I have gone on to purchase phones from THL, Xiaomi, and Sony.
When you wanted to buy the Redmi note 7, that paid marketer tried to freighten, bully, and arm twist you into buying an expensive and inferior Transsion product. This is done by their marketers in almost every store. Funny enough, this is exactly what Transsion nairaland marketers accuse other concerned, well meaning users of doing. A sane mind that has experienced the horrors of using a Transsion product would not want anyone to suffer the same fate.

I can call you my twin sef. I started my android story from 2011 HTC G2, MYTOUCH 4G SLIDE, DESIRE, VIVID, AMAZE 4G,SENSATION, SENSATION XL, INCREDIBLE 4G. And none of this htc went scot free from custome ROM. Used some old VPN cheats eveb before open VPN cheats came. Those were days before the big NL crash. I never for once used any tecno or infinix has I have always read extensively about phones. I'm glad people are seeing the light and buying real value for money

I don't know what you're trying to achieve o but the Pouvior serious is very good.
