Why is there now cow dung in d farm. Is like d animals are rented for photos and will be returned after. Like Fayose poultry like Fayemi's farm.

(Tongue-in-cheek)

Why source Cows from Zamfara? I thought the North was good for Nothing.

Hahahaha!

This idea of Nigerians disparaging a region when it is convenient is laughable.

This is another example of how, even though I don't like everything about you, I could sometimes need you.

No true Productive individual can be a tribalist— to the point of being tribalistic.

The scientific background is that Nigerian breeds are poor milk producers but better adapted to our weather and more tolerant of parasites e.g. babesiosis and trypanosoiasis.
The expectation is that crossing out with a foreign breed with high yield would produce offspring combining high milk yield and disease resistance
That theory has been tested in 100s of published studies available online
It does not always work

The Jersey breed itself is not a pure breed but one developed over time .

This is a Wikipedia list of breeds and productivity for what it's worth.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dairy_cattle_breeds

We should be looking to *India for breeds like the Gyr

Or to Brazil for the Girolando

If we must cross with a European why not the Friesian breeds?

Milk cows need high quality food to produce commercial quantities of milk. Maize and Soya.
I hope there is a strategy for that

Perhaps we need to research how we can use cassava instead

Look at how big the cows are sef, no be all those lean Fulani herdsmen cow wey dey always waka about grin

I'm sure if the Fulanis can start ranching instead of just walking up and down the country, their cows will also be as big as this, if they are fed well. Though this cows are crossbred between Fulani cows and cows from Jersey, Fulani cows should be able to be as big as this if they are fed well.

This is the truth that they're surprisingly not acting upon.

The roaming cows that we eat are not so healthy to eat. They eat rubbish, drink bad water and carry diseases in their bodies.

It's archaic to be rearing cows on streets and roads.

The simple truth is that their knowledge is very limited compared to other countries and often not based on science
We need to learn from India and Brazil which has millions of cows of Indian Origin.
Hindus don't eat beef but consume a lot of milk and have breeds that have done well in Brazil

Instead of supllying WAMCO why not encourage some of your indigenes to set up a milk factory to compete with them? Industrialisation is the way to go and we cannot industrialise by tieing our future to the bums of any white man.

You wonder why they are not selling the milk fresh and direct to the citizens themselves... The colonial mentality of processed food that leads to cancer and more gain to cowbell.

Indians and Chinese do not drink processed or powdered milk. They drink fresh milk.

Nigerians historically do not have a culture of drinking fresh milk so the market is relatively non existent.
Many are intolerant to large quantities of milk
Fresh milk marketing requires refrigeration and electricity especially in hot countries

Good development

As long as it is private and not run by government.
Otherwise it is only a matter of time before it collapses and billions wasted that could have served other common services, facilities, utilities etc like more doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, hospital administrators and other workers to improve the ratios in the health sector. Just to give one example.
How many government run companies are profitable for decades and working efficiently?

We really take this powdered milk for granted, without it most of Nigeria's children will be stunted and malnourished(even more than usual). I don't know where we will find the light to be storing fresh liquid milk like abroad.

Years ago, we enjoyed fresh milk from the dairy farm in Ibadan. They used to sell mostly to workers in offices then. Sadly, governors down the line ruined the farm. I'm not sure it still exists.

The dairy farms were a part of the agricultural revolution of the old Western Region. There are also well planned farm settlements scattered all over SW which need to be restored for modern mechanised farming.

This is a good development in Ekiti State. But i expect as a state , the government should do more than 100 cows. I don't know how 100 cows will give that daily quantity of milk. I will also advice that the government should fashion out the ikun diary should be run as privately established coy. In order , to avoid going into moribund after change of government.

But we have foreign entrepreneurs doing well in different sectors
Under $5million.
We don't have entrepreneurs with long term perspective. Many like buying and selling e.g petrol station or importing.
Why are Indians so prominent in drinks and juices?
Why is there no Nigerian Cola or beer?
