Doctors, nurses, and other medical staff have lamented the dilapidated state of the Ovoko General Hospital in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

They have accused the Enugu State government of gross negligence and allowing the hospital to rot away.

Findings revealed that the hospital, which used to be a hub of activity few decades ago, has not been renovated for over ten years.

The members of the community and its environs troop there to access medical treatment in the past

All that now seemed history as the hitherto prominent hospital no longer has any serious medical activity going on there.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a nurse attached to the hospital lamented that both the state and local government have ignored medical workers’ pleas to renovate the run-down hospital.

In one of the pictures, a rotten floor and dilapidated brickwork of what would have once been a busy ward is shown, with the crumbled roof leaving the room exposed

What’s left of the roof can be seen in another snap, which shows the intricate detailing on it

One picture shows the old filing cabinet which is thought to have once contained patient records whilst another shows a completed abandoned structure now overgrown with grasses.

Residents of the community now go to hospitals in faraway places.

Most government institutions across Nigeria are as dilapidated as this. It stems from a systemic anomaly arising from electing illiterate and incompetent people from the Federal to state and local government.

This was because the people who took over power after the war were so incompetent that they filled the whole places with equally illiterate people who cannot run anything.

How much is his budget? The FG allocates money to states who must pay salaries and maintain all infrastructure, plus security and other things, it's a general failure of government. What does the ministry of health do?

Even Aso rock clinic doesn't have ordinary paracetamol (according to aisha buharri even with billions of naira allocated to it yearly)

Stop blaming state governors alone.

I like the way Igbo people make there governors to be proactive not to hide under that all are well with us. Even if there are so many hospital of this nature in villages that government has abandoned bringing it out on social media will steer development.

Ok it is the FG fault.

They rather insult PMB than hold their elected leaders to account for their failure. Is it any. Wonder why Enugu is ranked amongst the poorest state in the East and South?

For those who will be quick to blame the governor without seeing the whole picture, ask for the whole hospital pictures.

This could be an abandoned part of the hospital which is no longer in use.
