A friend Toyota Camry 2005 bought last year started to shot down in hold up when gear is engaged and when the car is not in motion. He said even in morning, when start ,the rpm, doesnt get to one and gradually reduces until it finally stops when in gear. After diagnosis it shows P1028 .Pls what's the problem with the car and possibly solutions.

I'm guessing it's a V4 VVt Engine. That code will normally point to 3 things:
1. Low Coolant level
2. Bad themostat
3. Bad Coolant temperate sensor.

Start from the simplest, check and confirm it the coolant level is OK. If yes, replace the thermostat. If that doesn't solve it, then the coolant temperature sensor may be the culprit. The job of the sensor is to communicate the coolant temperature to the Ecu which is reflected on the temp Guage. When there is a miscommunication between the temp sensor and the Ecu, the ecu will most definitely stall the engine. Do these checks and let us know the outcome. Cheers.

Check your Throttle POSITION sensor. it might need to be changed.

The throttle position sensor (TPS) is part of your vehicle's fuel management system and helps ensure that the correct mixture of air and fuel is delivered to your engine. The TPS provides the most direct signal to the fuel injection system of what power demands are being made by the engine.
