Because she endured years of bullshit right? Naso.
No. Because she had the heart to remain humble in spite of her riches, and forgive him in spite of his stupidity.

No. Because she endured 12 miserable years of nonsense, that is you guys definition of "rare gem" and "heart of gold". A virtuous woman to you guys is one who can endure and enjoy being miserable. We all know the tune y'all sing here, so don't try to be smart by half.

Not that rare. Many such women abound. Many many.
You’re only believing this because it’s coming from a man’s perspective. Because that’s the only person you would believe.

If the woman in this story had come forward to complain about the man and the man while still in his unrepentant state countered her accusations, y’alls default position would be to doubt her.

In fact, they will be asking for the man's side of the story, very anyhow people, especially that dominusprime.

Forgiveness is one thing, but can one ever trust such a person again with their emotions? Always wondering if he's back to his old acts every time he gets moody or angry...
The man too on his part will be too careful not to offend.
Things will certainly never be the same again.

Exactly. Trust once damaged changes a lot of things. She might even later get angry at all he did.

There are terrible men, there are terrible women who go to make terrible spouses.

There are men whose dreams have gone down the drain because they have to go for what makes money for the family than their passion.

I have seen men take insults from younger people like bread and butter because they have a family to feed.

I have seen men turn down greater opportunities because it would keep them from their families for extended periods.

I don't know where these stories about marriages all doom and gloom for women is coming from.

Life itself is a bed of roses with thorns and that translates to every aspect of life: marriage, parenting, work, schooling, religion, extra-curricular activities.

If you can't put your spouse first and be wise enough to marry a spouse who would put you first, don't bother with marriage.

If you can't figure out what your dreams are and marry someone in line with them, don't put the blame of your lack of productivity/fulfillment on your spouse.

I have women around me who are married with kids and achieve what they set for themselves: no matter how mundane or lofty.

People change.
The person you think you knew very well and married might turn out to be a stranger you barely even recognize. Even some people don't recognize who they become later in life, let alone...
I'm very sure the man in the story wasn't always that way until his wife became more successful than him. I bet he himself never knew that side of him.
Nobody has it all figured out.

Nobody has it all figured out.

This is lazy man's (woman's) thinking.

People don't change, they manifest and EVERYONE already has their attitude/behaviour formed in them.

The problem is that we look at people's behaviours in silos and not holistically.

For instance, a low self-esteemed person will manifest it in bullying or timidity; someone who is not content will manifest it in greed, selfishness, envy, jealousy etc.

Now imagine someone surprised that her jealous husband turns greedy twenty years later or a husband surprised that his masturbation addicted wife loves porn.

My people will say a man that smokes and drinks would womanize grin sure there are exceptions (some men womanize without drinking or smoking; some others smoke and wouldn't touch alcohol or women; some others would drink and think smokers are evil bla bla).

Every behaviour has markers, has traces.

Saying nobody has everything figured out while true is leaving a lot to chance and absorbing them of responsibilities of due diligence.

A man like the OP is easy to detect; they are plenty at my place of work and at school. A male class mate gathered courage to tell me he couldn't marry a girl like me ( I was with my husband then) because I was too ambitious.

Others (male & female) were not so bold and shunned when I did maths tutorials, when I joined my husband to learn some programming language for my final year project or upturned their noses when I said I wanted to form my final year project and not pick a topic done before.

At work, they are plenty with 'I don't like career women' even though they want to marry a working wife. This means they have an internal thresh hold the woman MUST not cross.

Mariangles, by everyone's fruits, you will know them. Observe, listen, perceive, trust your intuition... you will see.

Bukatyne were you around in the days of Debrief?

Did you follow her story? Did you see her ex-husband's version which basically corroborated everything she had been saying?

I did not follow her ex-husband's version of the events.

Would you be kind enough to bring out your point?

I don't like dragging members' family if they did not table their matter.

Interesting thread.

Thank God the wife did not let the killjoy husband derail her.

There is a need for an overhaul in how we train our kids.

I remember speaking to a child some years back and asking the random 'what do you want to be in future' question.

And she said a nurse.

'A doctor you mean?' I corrected.

'No, women are nurses and not doctors. So she is going to be a nurse.' Replied her mother.

Omo, I weak.

Hopefully, the author would pass his insight to his kids.
How would someone desire to be a Nurse and you corrected her to be "Doctor" .... No difference between you and her mama Both of you did the same thing in different form.

You have managed to push down your true feelings.... well done!

The only solution is to work harder than your wife. In marriage there is the male and there is the female for polarity to take place.

Your wife has done nothing wrong but you have now taken on the female role because of your lack of ambition and zest for hardwork.

Do something about it or the underlying issues will keep popping up.... which is lack of polarity.

Five year olds desire to be different things at different times.

Last I remembered, at that age, they can only grasp general concepts of occupation e.g. Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer, Banker, Pilot, Teacher etc.

If she told me she wanted to be a neurosurgeon, I would be amazed and go on to ask what she knew about NS at 5.

Nobody said nursing is bad or lower/worse off than a Doctor, I only pointed out that she wants to be a nurse because her mother feels doctorship is reserved for only men and the highest a girl can be is a nurse.

If she said she wanted to be a nurse because Nurse Titi at the hospital is kind to her, I would given her a high five and told her to thank Nurse Titi on her next visit. undecided

Well, the question you should have asked her was why she wanted to be a nurse, then listened to what she had to say

Now I understand better ... I'm sorry for my outburst.... She choosed Nurse due to her Mom's philosophy..... She may even end up being a Lawyer grin ....

I choosed Newscaster as a Kid ... due to watching Cyril Stober, Fatima Abass Hassan, Eugenia Abu, Aisha Katung later Bello, Tokunbo Ajayi (RIP) .... I still love them all with deep passion cheesy ... I'm even having goose pimples right now grin

As a Teen promoted to SS1, the day my counselor recommended me to Art Class, at that point , I told her to post me to commercial class and I'm an accountant today ... I made on the spot decision for a boy that carried Newscaster for head since like 5/6years old ... That's because the best TV I had as a kid was NTA and mom always made me watch NTA news grin

Today, anytime I watch Channels TV and I see Chamberlain, Seun Okinbaloye...... I always see what I was supposed to be...

I'm about to be Chartered Anyway with B.sc and M.sc in Accounting !!
