I have not.
I think fanatic readers may have invented that title given the success of the Mark Girland/Malik novels because I know "Bury him like a Hero" is not on record as a book by James Hardley Chase. It is at best 'Fictitious' as you have said cheesy
But the title is consistent with a typical James Hardley Chase book.

Let's continue the search. Who knows maybe one day you will write it on behalf of Hardley Chase. The title sounds like him actually, the more reason why the existence of the book sounds believable.

Strictly for Cash remains my best. Where that boxer dude ran off with a girl that had this big shot gambling husband who died in a car accident.

I read my first JHC novel Knock Knock Who’s there at 9. Since then I’ve loved James Hadley Chase. That guy never ceases to blow my mind!!!

Yeah. Just take a dive and collect your cash but because of girl...

I read my first Hardley Chase too while in primary 6 (a public school o!) chai education back then sha. Many SS3 students in public schools nowadays can barely read newspaper and comprehend.

By the way, how many strokes of cane or tongue lashing did you receive when you were caught with those cover pictures. It took a long time for me to convince my mum then that there is absolutely nothing like the cover picture inside.

master story tellers can give a fiction that you will think actually happened.

James hardely Chase will create fictitious towns, streets, roads, cities that never existed and describe them vividly that you will practically be seeing the pictures directly in front of you.

As in... It was crazy though. Read about 10 James Hadley Chase books this holiday too. Currently switched to reread The Godfather again though

Just take a look at that CEO’s explanation of the Naira Marley thing to the Minister. Sub-par grammar.

Woah, primary 6. That’s early too! I learned a lot words from JHC books then. ‘Pronto’ and ‘shindig’ come to mind

cheesy I was smart. I was never caught! Even stole my dad’s JHC books that he borrowed from friends and never got caught once

Sorry to disappoint you, you will likely not find it anywhere because it doesn't exit grin

As someone said, that title could have just been invented by some die hard fans of Hardley Chase who still want the Girland/malik saga to continue.

Believe me, every real James hardley Chase people are talking about the existence of that book, yet none have read it. I even heard at the end of the book Malik eventually killed Girland hence the title "Bury him like a hero". But as I said, that book doesn't exist, just a phantom of our imagination as diehard supporters of JHC.

A character like girland cannot be killed Chase, not to talk of been killed by Malik who is a Russian. Is very logical to believe it doesn't exist. Thanks.

I love the way he describs restaurant and meals especially. In hit them where it hurts and a whiff of money the meals description was so vivid and salivating that I almost checked how to make those foreign meals.

The girl was not the problem she supported him. The mistake he made was the careless call he made to his friend that wanted to help not knowing d the boss was listening to the call. e pain eh.

grin grin grin If you research well you will be suprised those meals don't exist. Most of the countries he was describing he never went to, most of the towns in America he describes don't exit. The guy just sits down at his table and construct a town for you with streets and roads and it just jells.

I would like to have a copy of "Diary of a Homeless Prodigal" if you have it.

Thank you in advance.

I am overjoyed to see people mention authors from Heinneman's African Writers series.
I especially liked Peter Abraham's "Mine Boy". Very expressionist and real.
African writers held sway in the late sixties to the late '80's,I have read almost all of them.

Notable mentions are authors published under Pacesetters Publishers like Agbo Areo, Kalu Okpi, Victor Thorpe (The Worshippers), David G. Maillu (For Rabeka and Mbatha), Nandi Dlovu (Angel of Death) and many others!

There are also great authors published under The Fourth Dimension Publishers Like our own Igbo author Obi C. Egbuna (Diary of a homeless prodigal)
