What Are Your Thoughts About Bible Versions? by IamDavid(m): 5:05am On Jul 05, 2020
I've always been a lover of the King James version of the Bible since I was young, but on a particular day, I saw a white Good news Bible on my dad's bed, I skimmed it and I was sold on. Since then, I've always found newer versions easier to read.

Fast forward to when we had phones and internet, I got updated with conspiracies of how these modern versions are satanic.

Till date, I still read multiple versions of the scripture, and I have not seen any solid proof that these versions mean any harm. I've not seen any version pervert the core message of salvation, and other Biblical principles.

I believe in the ability of the Holy Spirit to teach us as we read, since the scriptures say "the letter killeth" (2nd Corinthians 3:6) Afterall, if we all want total "originality" of the letters, we should all be reading the Hebrew scripts and learn the language.

Same Bible, same teaching, but the grammar and their choice of words is different.

Hey guys, here is an assignment for you

Open 1 John 5:7 in the KJV Bible and then other translations.

See the notorious fraud below:

King James Bible
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

New International Version
For there are three that testify:

New Living Translation
So we have these three witnesses—

English Standard Version
For there are three that testify:

Berean Study Bible
For there are three that testify:

Berean Literal Bible
For there are three bearing testimony:

New American Standard Bible
For there are three that testify:

Clarke's Commentary on the Bible says it is likely this verse is not genuine

But there's a curse in Revelations
Revelation 22:18-19
Nothing May Be Added
18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

Kobojunkie, who will get these curses in Revelations now?

Don't run away again o!

It wouldn't mean much until you come across a statement like, "God is Spirit" and another saying "God is a spirit.

These two statements can form two different religions but they are in the same Bible (different versions)

it depend on what the individual who is reading want to see, and not the version of the bible he is reading.
Every version of the bible came with the fundamental message which is Christ.
If for instance, what you want to see is Christ. Then, that is exactly what you will see in every version of the bible you read.
But if what you want to see is a doctrine that you like so much instead of Christ, then the doctrine is what you will see all through in all version of the bible you read.

So, choose one before reading any version
What do you want see, is it doctrine or Christ?

The Bible is a property of the Roman empire. The Nicea council comes to mind.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ now , and I am commanded not to cast my pearls to swine and not my treasures to the dogs... i have to obey! undecided

If you had asked me this way back when I was just another person on nairaland, i would have eagerly jumped at the opportunity to tackle it with you then. undecided

Holy Spirit advised you to run away again!
Who are the dogs? Just like Jesus called that woman a dog but later ended up fulfilling her request!

Same way Allah call you dogs in your Quran.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:

"And if We had willed, we could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered [instead] to the earth and followed his own desire. So his example is like that of the dog: if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he [still] pants. That is the example of the people who denied Our signs. So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought."
(QS. Al-A'raaf 7: Verse 176)

Hafs and warsh
we have been told that Quran is 100% preserved by Allah, words to words, letter to letter, dot to dot.

Infact , in Surah 15 vs 9 ,Allah said:
"Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian." That means nothing has changed in the Quran.. but how true is that? lets us compare HAFS ``SAHRAAN`` and Warsh``SAHRAAN`` reading of the quran...
I must say some of these variant does not change the meaning of the text..

SURAH QASAS 28:48

Version --HAFS ``SAHRAAN``
But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."

Version--WARSH ``SAAHIRAAN``
But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two magicians supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."

Hafs version says “ two works of the magic supporting each other" while Warsh version two works of magicians supporting each other..
My question here : was there two magicians or one magicians performing two magics?

SURAH ZUKHRUF 43:19
HAFS ``IBAAD UR RAHMAN``
And they have made the angels, who are slaves of the Most Merciful, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.

WARSH ``IND AR RAHMAN
And they have made the angels, who are with the Most Merciful, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.

Are the angels slaves of the most Merciful or they are with the most Merciful?

SURAH HIJR 15:8
HAFS ``NUNAZIL``
We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.

WARSH ``TANAZAL``
You do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.

*****we do not send down
or
you do not send down***

If Quran was preserved words to words, letter to letter , dot to dot, we shouldnt have these issues at all.

In Sahih al-Bukhari 4987 , it was narrated how Utman burnt fragmentary manuscripts and copies of the quran.
How did Uthman even know which one is authentic?
