Wait oh, so instead of taking his kinsmen to beg for his dick, he prefers another man bleeping his wife. That's not pride-it's stupidity. Nice story Aunty Rose

Chapter 6

“Akwaugo m! (My Akwaugo)”

Morgan eased his weight from the tree and walked towards the feminine figure whose feet crushed the dry leaves as she walked the lonely part. He had rehearsed this moment yet every word disappeared with the wind at the sight of her “Akwa- beautiful one” he had almost given up waiting; his informant had told him that she walks this part to morning mass every morning and he had waited for thirty minutes.

“What are you doing here! Someone can see you!” her eyes widened, she scanned the road for another human taking a stroll.

“I have to see you, just once” his fingers brushed her skin as he arranged the collar of her knee length fitted gown. It was beautiful- better than any cloths he had seen on her, her curves where pronounced in a very subtle way “You are beautiful” how could he be blabbing like a collage kid? Where had all the lines gone to? “I like what you are wearing” he licked his lips. She smiled shyly and lowered her gaze. Her smiles- that was the first time he was seeing her smile, could it get any easier? His stomach fluttered “Jesus!” he muttered

“I am not supposed to be seen with you” she didn’t sound scared today like other days “Someone would walk pass any moment”

“I am leaving” he had his hands in his pockets- scared of touching her

“What?” her face flung up to meet his “Why, I mean when?”

“Today” he saw her face fall “I am sorry…” he shouldn’t be apologizing, there was no future for both of them, yet he felt he owe her the apology, there was something electrifying about her, something so irresistible yet so scary.

She fiddled with her fingers “Why then did you come to see me, you would have just go” she paused “That would have been good for everyone”

“Will be good for you?” was she having emotional turmoil like him? He wished she was- it sounded selfish but he would want nothing more than to know that she had battled feelings for him. Not able to resist touching her, he cupped her face and forced her to look at him “Akwaugo m, will you miss me when I am gone?”

She gentle removed his hands but allowed him hold her hands “It is not the issue sir” calling his name made her uncomfortable “You are…we are not meant to be, I came to you for help and…that should have been all”

Morgan heaved a sigh “I guess since this may be the end, I better tell you how I feel” he released one of her hands “Can we walk to my car? the atmosphere is brightening and I wouldn’t want to put you in trouble” they walked few miles- no one said a word to the other- only held hands until they got to the black Rang rover sport parked as if the owner was trying to hide it. He opened the door for her to seat and assumed his seat beside her “I don’t know what to call this, I think I can safely say I have a strong feeling for you” he looked at her, she had her eyes glues to her fingers “from that day I saw you in the market, then you showed up in my house- and we made love…” she turned her head, staring from the window at nothing. “you said it was to help your husband…that may be all it was for you but” he swallowed hard “you were so innocent, so fragile, I wanted to stop but…” he couldn’t finish the statement “You are the best thing that has happened to me in years, I connect with you in a strange way Akwaugo, maybe I am being punished by God for my past…”

Akwaugo shook her head “We didn’t make love” she couldn’t hide the tremor in her voice “You only helped a desperate woman” she sniffed, battling the tears that welled in her eyes

“I don’t blame you if you feel nothing after that morning my love…” how could he call her ‘My love’ so soon? what is wrong with him “But for me, I made love to an amazing woman” he tilted himself to face her and turned her face to his “An act I don’t regret, no matter how sinful it sounds, Akwaugo I am not ashamed to say I made love to you”

“Don’t say these things sir…it is not right; I belong to another!”

He placed his hands on her chest “You feel the same way for me, I can feel it here”

“I feel nothing for you sir!” Morgan knew she was fighting it- a battle she wanted so desperately to win. He suddenly felt jealous. That man shouldn’t be her husband, no man should except him- but this may be the only thing he would want in his life and would not get. He laughed loudly at himself, Akwaugo looked at him confused

“for the first time in my life, I am loosing something I so much wanted, isn’t life a bitch?” he laughed some more. “we can be friends at least” his
sudden change of tone surprised Akwaugo, she wondered if it was the same person, “It’s not every day one meets a beautiful soul like you” he fetched something from the back seat, his breath caressed her face as he stretched towards the package, and she shivered “I got this for you” he presented the red box to her with a wide smile.

He had only a day to get the perfect gift for her, all it took was a call to his secretary “I need it down to my home town in 24 hours” he had instructed
“it’s is not going to be possible sir, it’s the end of the year and most shops are…” he had shut the secretary up “Make it possible Miriam, make some calls and mention my name” and the gift was delivered sooner than he expected.

Akwaugo gasped, she lifted the gold trinket that had the latter ‘M’ dangling on it “I can’t take this!” she had never owe a gold before, not even her wedding ring was a gold. How will she explain it? Who would she tell Mezie it was that gave it to her? She shook her head “No sir…I can’t” drops of tear fall from both eyes

He didn’t take it from her, he closed her palm with the trinket in it “Don’t drive knife in my heart Akwaugo, don’t hurt me any further…I want you to have this please…”

“But... how do I explain it?”

“You like it?”

She nodded

“Then have it, damn what anybody could say” his eyes danced with excitement “I will really want you to have it. “Thank you” he said with satisfaction as she carefully placed the box in her handbag.

“I have to go sir…I guess the service has ended” she chuckled

Morgan shook his head, he was resisting the urge to kiss her, would she allow him- she didn’t want him to kiss her the night they made love, he may choke with desire if he didn’t taste those lips but… “You should laugh more often, you look so lovely when you laugh” she gave him a furtive glance “I will miss you terribly” he gave a throaty laugh, “Our little hide and seek games- the stolen moments” he touched her lips, rubbing his thumb on them. She quivered, her breath became shallow. She wanted him- he knew it and it pleased him, but he would not worsen the situation “Will you call me?” it came out as a seductive whisper that sent sweet sensation through her
“I can’t, I don’t have a phone”

Morgan was disappointed, he fetched his card from the pigeon hole and handed it to her “You can still keep this, I am a call away whenever you need me my friend” how he desperately wanted to believe they could be only friends. She nodded, shove the card inside her handbag and stepped out of the car without giving him a second glance.

Coward! That’s what you are Morgan. Not even a kiss, he was sure that wouldn’t hurt any of them, a taste of her supple lips, it could last him till his memory wouldn’t hold on to her and she would begin to fade away.

Akwaugo clutched her handbag to her chest and hurried back home, she muttered a casual greeting to the man hunched over a piece of farm land.

“Akwaugo Ututuoma (Good morning)” Okorie stretched his back and turned fully towards the woman

“Ah, Nnanyi Okorie, Good morning sir” she stood

“It’s like you woke up late today, I didn’t see you in church this morning…everybody knows your seat” he chuckled

“Oh…er…yes, I woke up late…I couldn’t meet up” Akwaugo avoided his eyes

“So where are you coming from this early? I know you don’t pass through this road when going to your father’s house or your maternal home” he was careful with his words

“Yes er…I went to…that land! My husband’s land”

You are not a good liar- Okorie thought “Okay…that’s good o, its good you look after what belongs to your husband to avoid another man eating the food meant for his fellow man who seem to be weak”

Akwaugo flushed with shame, why did she read something else from Okorie’s statement? She felt naked- like he knew her sin “Gisie Ike Nnanyi Okorie (Weldone pa Okorie)” she hurried away.

*
“My husband I am so sorry, I was stopped by the parish priest after the mass, he wanted to pray for me” she pulled a table closer to her husband and dropped a plate of food. how easily she lies these days overwhelmed her.

Her husband uncovered the plate of portage yam, dug in hungrily. She sat- resting her jaw in her hand and humming a tone

“…Akwaugo I said I got this from your bag!” his angry tone snapped her out of her thought “Where did you keep your mind woman? I have been talking to you for some minutes and you have kept staring to what God knows what!”

Akwaugo stiffened on seeing the trinket dangling round Mezie’s Finger “Nwamaka! She gave it to me…she brought it from the city” Another lie! This time she looked her husband on the face and the lies had poured out smoothly

Mezie gave the piece of jewelry a close scrutiny “This is gold o” he exclaimed “Where did Nwamaka get the money for such an expensive gift?”

“She said her husband brings a lot of them from Obodo Oyibo. She wanted me to have this one” another smooth lie

“So Nwamaka now goes to morning Mass”

“I was surprised too, maybe she has her reasons” Akwaugo shrugged. She let out the breath she wasn’t aware she held in her lungs as Mezie placed the jewelry back in to the box, and continued with his food.

She waited for a little while, stood up and murmured her exit. She would wait for him to head for his shop, then she would race her way to Nwamaka before Mezie would get to her.

*
“I told Mezie you gave them to me” Akwaugo pulled her friend aside and brought out the Jewelry

“Jesus! Akwaugo” Nwamaka snatched it from her “Do you know what this is? Where did you get this from?”

“I don’t know what it is Nwamaka…”

“Where did you get it from? Who gave it to you?” Nwamaka eyed the Jewelry with lust and coveted it “I can buy a thousand Jewelries with this!”

Akwaugo took it back from her friend “Someone gave it to me to keep for him- her” she shoved it into her purse

“Who could give you this expensive piece in this village? I don’t know of anyone who can afford this except Nnewi Billionaires, those I know you don’t associate with” Nwamaka gave her friend a suspicious look “Tell me where this comes from”

“Don’t bother where I got it from Nwamaka, please tell my husband you gave it to me”

“He is a bigger fool to believe you if you told him I gave this to you, or he doesn’t know the worth, where will I get the money to buy this?”

“But you are married to a rich white man!” Nwamaka rolled her eyes “I told Mezie your husband brings things like this from Obodo Oyibo” Akwaugo added

“Chineke meh! Nne I didn’t know you are better than me in lying”

“Amaka please promise me, promise me you will tell my husband exactly what I told you”

Nwamaka gave her friend a long stare “Okay…I hope you know what you are doing though”

Akwaugo said her ‘thank you’ and ran out.

lies without hesitation, I really like this line. I will save it

However, she is scared of what she feels for him, it's all complicated and confusing for her. She also didn't want to lead him on

But let's see what becomes of them

Thanks for the update. I am following this story bumper to bumper.

Mezie is a proud and insecure human. embarassed I don't think I can stand staying under the same roof with someone who questions my every move. grin My guess is that she will leave him las las. His own insecurity is top notch.

cheesy He's a greedy human being too. I almost forgot to add that. You will be following your wife up and down so that no other man will look at her twice, but you will still have the gut to sleep with another man's wife. He deserves his punishment big time.
