I understand that some individuals are going through a tough time. Particularly private schools teachers. Some have taken pay cuts, some have even lost their jobs.

I empathize with everyone going through a hard time. My message to you, 'Don't lose hope, this period will not last'. We will not wish it away, we must ACT... ACT FAST. How to pivot? What opportunities can you see? What services can you reimagine?

For teachers,
-Have you learnt how to create digital content?
-Have you learnt how online courses are designed?
-What new line of business can you think of in the interim (sell facemasks to kids and their parents?),
-Record storybooks and offer them as digital product?
-What other skills do you have or need to acquire?

School Owners:
What do you see? Have you reimagined how the school will be Post COVID? You have a plan yet?
Are you providing leadership to your teachers and students/pupils? Are you able to emphasize with your stakeholders?
Are you in touch with your students/pupils? Post-COVID, will they return to your school?

It is normal to feel overwhelmed sometimes….. take a deep breath, this trying times will pass!

Think about how technology will help you improve service delivery and cut cost.

Post-COVID 19, are you planning to introduce blended learning to your school?

Parents:
How has it been having the children at home all day? You can't wait for them to get back to school?
Maybe this is an opportunity to teach them other skills, introduce them to some house chores, an opportunity to talk to them about finance, an opportunity for them to learn a new language, an opportunity to educate them about sex?

Irrespective of your situation, this is no time for self-pity. This is the time to unleash all the positive energy you have to better your situation and those of others around you.

Use this period to position for a turnaround.

One of my favourite stories is that of 'Sunky', my secondary school mate who did not gain admission immediately after college.

Whilst making efforts to gain admission, he enrolled to learn coding. To summarize, he didn't lose any year been at home. After gaining admission to study Industrial Chemistry, he was selected to be part of the University coding team, he was tutoring and writing codes for Computer science and Engineering undergraduates.

Today, Sunky is in the U.S working as a Programmer. A skill he acquired while waiting to gain admission.

The time provided by Lockdown #stayathome, if harnessed will turn out to be a time of growth.
