DOLORES CLAIBORNE---1995

In this psychological drama,Kathy Bates is Dolores Claiborne,a strong willed woman in a small town who works as a maid for an elderly woman who recently died.Dolores is then charged with her murder & her daughter who is a reporter in New York, returns inorder to work out the details of what really happened. In the course of her investigation, many difficult truths about her family history are revealed.
This is far removed from the book. The novel by Stephen King is in the first person narrative and the reporter daughter is estranged from her mother.

The Old Guard-

I am shocked to find out Charlize Theron is 44. It seems we will have to cut down on our fufu and banga intake so that by the time we reach age we will look ten years younger. cheesy

The movie is quite interesting, but there are loopholes that I cannot just ignore, one of them showing up early in the film. Andy and her team land in the Sudanese desert (or a desert looking place) and the stereotypical Africans pass by, complete with a woman carrying a pot of only God knows what on her head, shiny arab looking kids and a goat herder herding goats with his hands. I have never seen goats herded without a stick because those animals are devilishly stubborn. Now, my gripe with that seen is it looks like a movie scene...The extras with their deadpan expressions are very obviously conscious of the cameras, while the goat herder looks like he is trying hard not to laugh. These extras look like they were picked off their houses and shoved in front of the camera without proper orientation. grin

And then, what is it with the Gay Agenda being pushed by Hollywood? I was going to watch A Portrait of A Lady on Fire but I was put off by the gay themes. It is like they are trying to push this gay off a thing so much that we become desensitised and begin to accept gayness as noemal, BUT, No matter how we are bombarded by gay inclusion in movies, it will NEVER be normal. I was really pissed off by the gay scene in this movie. Pissed off and disgusted.

Asides that and others, I find the movie very entertaining, albeit graphic. So much blood!!! cry

I do not want to be immortal. It is too tragic in the long run.

7/10 grin

I would have rated it higher if not for the nonsense gay couple and their disgusting conversation.

Downloaded several horror movies from genyoutube.net but they all stutter, skip, tend to give highlight of what will happen 30secs or a movie will have a wrong name later it's annoying cause I've spent Alot of data. Imagine me downloading conjuring 2 just to find out that it's "the cabin" that was downloaded.

Just "wrong turn" seemed to be okay and smooth.
pls I'll like to be helped or if anyone knows how I could correct this malfunction
Re: What Movie Did You Watch Today? by Menance: 12:26pm On Jul 18, 2020

a quiet place - another movie

Bernie-

This tragicomedic movie is something else. I read up on the story and found out the townspeople being interviewed are not actors. They are real people who knew and lived with Bernie and Mrs Nugent.

One thing I learned from the story is this: don't be mean and a nag. It can waste your destiny grin

Bernie is about a small town undertaker who developed an intimate relationship with the town's richest and notoriously mean spirited widow, Mrs Nugent. Eventually, their relationship becomes more and more toxic until Bernie is pushed to the wall and _shit hits the roof.

Interesting watch.

Tropic Thunder-

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. This movie is crazy, hilarious and graphic in it's depiction of violence. The real star of the movie is Robert Downey jnr. I read he was even nominated for an Oscar for his role, and rightly so. That man is super talented! cheesy

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to blow off steam.

Can you point some out?

Okey-dokey.

• Immortals that are centuries years old ought to be cynical, but these guys are not. Their achy breaky heart routine isn't convincing. Not a single relatable character amongst them. The new girl can't act for shit.

• If they are centuries years old immortals, then why are they not more powerful? One would expect folks that have survived multiple centuries to have access to unlimited resources, hell, people in their kind of situation ought to be wealthier than God, and have control of the world politics. They are the ones that ought to be the hunters, not the hunted.

• New girl marine friends shunning her like a bubonic plague is not realistic. If it's my bestie that came back from the dead, I'd be ecstatic. I'll ask questions later, but in the meantime, I'll shield them from prying eyes and wagging tongues. The manner in which her marine friends treated her is not how a real life marine would have treated her best friend. Marines are known for the strong bonds they share.

• The villain is ridiculously one dimensional and weak AF

• Music doesn't jell with montage. Dialogue is awkward.

I'm sure RDJ must have good humour in real life. See how he made his MCU character lovable with his witty talks.
