What effort is in place to make these books available so that people will read?

Just search for b-ok on Google and you will see a site "Z library" open it and search the. book you need. It is free to download 5 books per day without any registration.

You should also download "PocketBook" from play store so you can read .epub, .PDF, .mobi and other ebook files. You can also use "ReadEra" app but it can't open .mobi files.

Also Geminita have made it easier. There's no excuse for us not to read in this age.

Thank you for the question, I was supposed to talk about it sooner

Do you think having a review for a whole month won't be too much At some point, there won't be much to say again ..

It's a good suggestion tho

Yes a month is too much now that I think about it. What if we do it this way, we use 2 weeks instead for review, so once we start the next book, we can start sending our reviews for the previous book. That is 2 weeks for reading and 2 weeks for review and discussions.

Is this better

Yea.... A month is too much.
Jack273.... I think we should read the books for 3 weeks then review on the fourth week.... The book we read this month will be reviewed the first week of next month.... Wahyasay?

Yes it is
It ain't... A week should be enough for reviews na.

It ain't
We read a book for 2 weeks and review and discuss the next 2 weeks while we are reading the 2nd book of the month. This way we can do 2 books per month.

I feel 3 weeks might be too long for reading and it will be hard to count in 3s

Aiit aiit... Me Sha I've not finished this one.

Jack273:

I think Ana4love is right so let's pick a day for reviews.

I just had an idea now. Since we will be finishing (at least supposed to) the two books at the end of the month, we can start the reviews next month.

That is the books we read this month will be reviewed throughout next month So we will have a whole month for reviews and discussions without spoilers and a whole month of reading.

This way we can keep the thread alive.
Yeah sounds cool to me. We would be reading the newly nominated books whilst reviewing the previous ones.

Me too, although I don't have any excuse, I've been playing since morning. I think is because we started late sha but as from next month we will have at least 14 days for each book unlike this month that it's just 10 days each.

So it's just one book for a month then.. 3 weeks for reading, 1 week for review...

No na. It's still the same two books. One book for two weeks, while reading the next book in the remaining two weeks, we'll be reviewing the first one we read.

Oh.. I get it now... But to make this group active and interesting, we should stick to the two weeks plan of completing a book

No we have agreed on this

Each Month

2 weeks: Read book 1, review book 2 of last month
2 weeks: Read book 2, review book 1

Next Month
2 weeks: Read book 1, review book 2 of last month

so we continue like this each month

I'm not really feeling the book... Read Anna Karenina in like 4days and I can't finish a 390 paged book in 10days.

My own case is just procrastination, once I start I don't want to stop but then I get distracted and it takes me 2 days to get back to it
Re: NAIRALAND BOOK CLUB (NBC) by Jack273: 10:18pm On Jul 19, 2020
We are to start the second book on Tuesday 21st, so based on the decisions taken today it means the review for the first book should start coming in from Tuesday.

But for the sake of those like me who are yet to finish the first book, we are asking that the review be delayed till 23rd so we have 3 days to round up.

Meanwhile those that are already done can start reading the next book from 21st as originally planned and the review for this one will commence 1st of August.

So please give us 3 days.

Hehehehe.... I know introverts read a lot.... But they easily get distracted and procrastinate a lot.... I'm one, I know.

In my own case I read everything except what I'm supposed to read and by the time I come back to reality, the day is over. The next day the circle continues, I forget how interesting it was that I didn't want to drop it (until I pick it again days later)

It happens to me too but when I know there's a deadline to catch up with, I try not to forget the book. Also I feel I'm really slow in reading, so I try to give myself the number of pages I should finish in a day

I'll try it out, set number of pages to read each day. Deadline helps me too.

Good morning. Today is the 23rd of this month and that means, it is time to nominate and vote for the books for next month.

How to nominate a book

Go to the NBC Nomination thread ( https://www.nairaland.com/5980863/nbc-nomination ) on the 23rd of each month and nominate in this format:
Book title:
Author:
Category: (ie African or foreign)
Nomination ends by 11:59pm on 25th (ie Saturday night)

How to vote for a book

Go to the NBC Nomination thread from the 23rd of each month to "like" and "share" the nominated book of your choice, you are advised to only vote for one in each category ie African and foreign. Voting ends 11:59pm on the last day of each month ie 31st of July.
Note that each "like" carries 1point while each "share" carries 2points

Please note that only those who have dropped a review of this month 1st book, "An orchestra of minorities" here before 1st of August will their nomination be valid (ie active members).

See the rules on the first page for more information or ask your questions here. I'll be amending the rules soon.
