"Clement enough of all this!tell me what's going on here because i have every right to know"Mum was angry now.
"Biko Clement,at least let me know what my husband has done"Charles mum pleaded.
"Okay everybody want to know right!"My dad inquired.
"Yeeeeeessssss"we all chorused.
"Its meant for adult alone,darling you will know now"Dad replied"Chioma come into the house"Dad beckoned to Charles mum.
My sisters,I and Charles was dissappointed at the turn of event.
We all decided to eavesdrop on them.
"Before Chima and I got married,we were best of friends,we suffered hell when we got out of the NYSC"dad started.
"One of our friends advised us to do ritual which out of frustration we went"Dad paused to survey the expression of Mum and charles mum.They were listening with rapt attention so he continued.
"By the time we got to the herbalist,baba told us the condition to make money which did not go down well with us.So we left angrily"Dad said.
"What was the condition Clement,my ear is itching me"Mum asked skeptically.

"Baba gave us two conditions which were;Our fertility or Our Children Future"Dad said.
"What!!"Mum exclaimed"Devil has no free gift"mum resented.
"Do you know what Chima did?"
"What"?
"Chima went behind me to do the ritual on my behalf on the first option"Dad started crying.
"What!!!!No wonder i could not conceive"Mum screamed and bursted into tears.
My sisters screamed and came out of our hiding place.
"Wait!mum,dad.Did you mean you people are not my real parents"Mmesoma asked.
"Yes,we adopted three of you on the advice of Chima"Dad said even though he was suprised that we heard all he said.
Mum was crying.
"How i got to know was that one night i dreamt where i saw my sperms in a black pot in that same shrine,God revealed it to me so i confronted him and he said the truth"Dad replied mopping his face.
"But if he needed to perform the ritual,cant he do it on his own,why do he have to do it on your behalf"?Mum asked.
"I dont know.Look at whom i called my friend!see the way he destroyed my life"Dad lamented.

Hmmm, so Chima did the ritual using Clement leaving himself out. When Clement became wealthy he sponsored his friend untill now when Chima developed 'i made u' attitude towards Clement. Now clement is dashing out the anger he had long buried inside of him, because he felt cheated by his best friend and never did forgive him.... Weldone PRE4

"So you know all these while Clement"My mum screamed.
"No just of recent,he came to me and told me that he wanted to import a particular good and i should support him with a whooping sum of two hundred million,i was shocked so i asked him what he wanted to use the money for,he flared up and told me afterall he made me who i was"My dad reeled out.
My sisters were seated dejected,almost close to tears.
"Chima have killed me"Chima mum said shamefacedly.
"Did i tell Chima i needed desperate wealth,huhn tell me?now with all my wealth where is my offspring?nothing to show for it,but i will make sure i ruin him,i will render him useless"
My mum was crying.I went to her side and held her hand then i whispered to her.
"Let Dad forgive Charles Dad"
She looked at me in shock"its harder than you think"she whispered back.
Charles went to his knees at my dad feet with his face tears filled.
"Please Forgive my dad"he cried.
"Yes forgive him"I added.
Dad looked on for a while
"I forgive him"he said.
We all screamed happily.

CHAPTER SIX
"I am so sorry Clement,i dont just know why i did that"Charles apologised at the dining table.
My dad had ordered his release,he had also restored all he had taken from Charles dad.
I was so happy that my friend was back with me.
"Its okay Chima,i have forgiven you.I am a pastor so i need to give out all of my properties and wealth to the poor now that i've known the source of my wealth"My dad said.
"It will be painful to do that"Chima told my dad.
"I am ready to pay the price now,i cant say i am a pastor while my hand is soiled with satanic wealth.I thank God that i havent died before it was revealed or else God will have dealt seriously with me"
"I am so sorry"Chima continued pleading.
"I want to auction my cars,houses,companies and land.So get buyers"
"Ok sir i will"Chima replied with sober face.
"I will give all to the poor so that if God wants to bless me again then he can but if he decides to make me poor to death then its fine"My dad said with tears in his eyes.
"Forgive me Clem"
"I have"

We all were not happy for his decisions but we had no choice.
Dad sold all our cars,houses,lands and companies and gave all its proceeds to the poor and the church.
We relocated to a three bedroom rented apartment and dad got a job at an insurance firm,though the pay was substantial but it could not measure up to our luxurious lifestyle before yet were comfortable with it.
Four years later i gained admission into the university to study Petrochemical engineering while Charles got admission into the same school to study accounting so our frienship continued.
We were seen together as people still mistook us as twin.
We both attended the campus fellowship and we made sure we were devoted to it even till we graduated.
Charles and I got a job at Exxon Mobil oil company through my father influence.
He works with the finance department while I work at the downstream oil mining field.
We still maintained our friendship as my love and trust for him increased.
Charles was the most smartest person i have ever seen.

We were returning home from office one evening in Charles car because my car was at the maintenance shop.
We were passing a market road which was usually busy with itinerant traders littering their wares on the floor and screaming at the top of their voices attracting customers to themselves.
I spotted a young beautiful lady selling bread in a kiosk,i asked Charles to park while i alighted and approached her.
"Hello beautiful"I called out to her and tugged at my three-piece french suit to look impressive.
She lifted her head up and smiled charmingly.
"Hello sir,how much bread did you want to buy"She replied.
"Everything"I flirted and smiled warmly.
"That will save me the stress of shouting for today"she replied.
"How much will it cost me"
The girl was shocked,perhaps she thought i was joking.
"I thought you were joking sir"she replied.
"How much will they cost"I repeated again.
"Five thousand naira"she replied as she watched me brought out a wad of one thousand naira notes and gave it to her.She frozed

She collected and counted it.
"Its fifteen thousand naira sir"She stated.
"Yes its all yours"I told her.
"Okay let me get a bigger nylon to pack the bread and help you to the car"She said.I smiled broadly.
"Keep the bread,i dont need them"I replied.
The lady stared at me for a while and knelt down in front of me
"Thank you very much sir"she thanked,i helped her up her feet.
"Dont mention young lady.See you next time"I said amd turned to go when i saw Charles approaching us.
I walked up to him.
"Lets go now"I told him.
Soon we were on our way now.
"So Mike tell me,did you know her"Charles broke the silence of ten minutes.
"Who"I asked in pretence.
"Dont tell me you dont know who i am talking about"
"Yeah i understand"I piqued.
"So do you know her"
"I dont"
"But you gave her money"
"No i bought all her bread"
"So why didnt you bring it along with you"
"C'mon you know i dont need them"I replied out of control.
"I need to know why she was kneeling in front of you"
"She was just grateful of my kind gesture"i said

"Really!When did you become a charity organisation for young beautiful ladies"Charles asked in sarcasm.
"I am just attracted to her,nothing more"I replied.
"This was the answer i was expecting from you,so did she agreed on a date with you"
"oh stop that Charley,how can i date her on the first day"
"Women could be that way"
"Not this type"I defended.
"Oh you are defending her already"
"Charles stop,i didnt even ask for her name"
"Fella,i can read your mind"
"go on with your joblessness"I replied and playfully punched him"I am old enough for the game now"I added.
"Ouch!!then the game will be played with an ordinary breadseller"Charles mocked,though i was already boiling in rage but i had to control my nerves.
"She is not an ordinary breadseller,condition made her that way.Charles will stop being sadistic at least for one"
"oh spare me that sanctimonious counsel,i have done nothing wrong so far.Is she not an local breadseller"Charles replied.
I decided to keep quiet.As soon as we got home,i dozed off.

The next day,i was driving home alone in my car when i got t the same spot i met the lady yesterday but she was not there.
I felt downcasted and drove home sadly.
"You look sad"Charles said immediately i entered the house.
"Yes i am"I replied and made to move into my room when Charles blocked me.
"Is it about that breadseller,i passed there but she was not there,i know you will return there today"Charles said.
I turned to him immediately.
"So you now stalk me Charles"
"No i dont"Charles replied.
"Then why did you passed that route to see her?okay now if i may ask,if you had seen her what will you have done"I poised.
"Bro calm down,no one is snatching away the local breadseller from you.Not everybody stoops low like you always do which you call humility"Charles lashed out.
I maintained my paranoia and smiled.
"Taste differs"I replied.
"Really?then your taste must be a bad one"
"Charles,since you got this job,you 've transformed to a beast i never knew you were"I replied calmly,turned and left the sitting room

CHAPTER SEVEN
"The new MD replacing our deceased MD is nobody else but Mr Michael Ozoemena,let welcome him to the podium with rounds of applause"The board of director Chairman Mr Usman Danladi announced amidst rendition.I walked down the aisle on my feathers and mounted the podium amidst cheers from the crew members of the Board meeting.
I bowed to shook hands with Mr Danladi.
"He is one of the most dedicated staff this great company has ever had,though he is new but his dedication is worth complimenting,i can vouch that"Mr Danladi said and hugged me.
I was elated.Barely five years of me being in the company yet i was the one chosen to head the group of veterans.
"This company will flourish in his care as recommended by the board of directors"Mr Danladi appraised and handed the microphone over to me.
I managed to clean the tears coming out of my eyes before i grabbed the mic.
I skimmed the whole hall and nodded my head to their"MIKE WE LOVE YOU"chant.
"I promise to take the company to the next level"I said.

My thoughts exactly
Re: So You Betrayed Me-a Christian Fiction by Nobody: 9:46pm On Jul 23, 2020
The rendition was really ground breaking,i was stunned.
"I pledge my allegiance to the company to take it to a greater height,i will not dissappoint the board"I said amidst pomp and peagantry.
As i alighted the podium,the cameras flickered on me from every angle.
I hugged all my superiors and subordinates and took pictures with them.
I noticed that Charles gave me a cold embrace and an unimpressed look but i never bothered to care.
My inauguration ceremony was a powerful one.
~~~
I still passed the route to see if i will see the breadseller,i was so happy i saw her.I parked my car,alighted and approached her.
"hello beautiful"I greeted.
She was more beautiful today.
"Hello sir,nice to see you again.Thanks for the last time"she replied.
"Dont mention,i have been looking for you,where hsve you been"I asked but i noticed her countenance dampened.
"is anything the problem"I asked.
"Never mind sir,do you want to buy bread today"She asked anxiously.
"Not really,i want to see you personally"
"Me?why"she asked.
"Nothing that serious.my name is Mike and you?"I asked
"Chimamanda,nice to meet you"She replied and offered her hands for a handshake.I took the soft feminine hands and squeezed it softly.
"Nice name,can we go for dinner"
"No i cant go with a total stranger and besides i cant leave here until i sell all my wares"
"I am no longer a stranger by now,i am a worker at Exxon Mobil and for your wares i will pay for all"I replied showing her my I.D.
"I appreciate but i wont spend much time with you"she said.
"no problem"I replied.
I helped her with her wares to my car and i drove her straight to McHill kitchen where we ate little grill chickens before i drove her home.
"Drop me here"she told me.
"Why?i want to know your house"I stated.
"No stop me here please,you dont need to know my house,if you do then i am in trouble"She said adamantly.
"How"
"The last time you paid for the whole bread without taking it,i was beaten on the ground that i went to sleep with men who gave them to me,so please take those bread with you
"Who did that"I asked petrified.
"Dont worry,just take those bread home with you to avoid another assault"She said and opened the car door."Thanks for the dinner"she added and ran into the darkness.
I reversed and drove home with the bread,i knew Charles will question me so i was ready.
As i drove into our compound,Charles was waiting for me in the verandah.
As soon as i alighted,he approached me.
"I was worried about you,where have you been"he asked.
"Help me with those breads at the car trunk"I pleaded and opened the car rear trunk.
"Dont tell me an MD like you spent the whole evening hanging out and frolicking with that bread girl"Charles asked in sarcasm.
"I did hung out with her,we went for dinner"
"Mike you 're mad!what will people think of you if they saw you with that stupid girl"
"Charles enough!you should mind the way you use word on that girl.Beside,how did it affect you"
"Mike you are stupid,a nincompoop,that girl is not your class,a common bread seller"
I left him and went to my room
The next morning i drove to work alone because before i freshened up,Charles had left for work.
When i got to the office,i checked on Charles,he was in his office so i entered to greet him.
"Bro,you just left without waking me up"I said and sat on his table.
He looked up from his desktop computer smiling.
"I needed to be at work very early to be able to finish my accounts preparation,i needed to submit it to the management"he replied.
"Do you need to do that?have you forgotten we are now in control of this company,whatever is mine is yours"I said.
"I still need to respect the fact that you are my boss,i need to drop the sentiment that we are friends,this is business"
"Charly i insist you stop over working yourself,you did not sleep yesternight yet you left so early"I insisted.
"I've heard you ol'boy,so you have forgotten that today is my birthday,i ran away so you wont repay me back in my own coins of what i did to you on your birthday"Charles smiled broadly
I exclaimed"it escaped my mind ohh chai"I said
My last birthday,which was my twenty sixth years was a day i will never forget.
I woke up that monday morning got dressed for work on my cream-coloured british suit,i was to represent my company at the NUPENG meeting that day so i forgot it was my birthday because i looked forward to the important meeting.I came out of the house and was heading to my car when something splashed on my body,i turned to see Charles with a bucket of mist grinning like a fool.I could not cry nor laugh,i just ran to bath and change my clothes,i went to the meeting late and was heavily queried.
"I dont repay evil with evil Charly"I said and smacked him at the back"you almost made me lose my job bro"i added.
"I have apologised about that times without number Mike"
"I know,just reminding you"
"So what will you give for my birthday"Charles asked.
"What did you want"I asked.
"I want you to stop hanging out with that local bread girl,she is not your class"
"Not again Charly,i will take you to Chicken Grill.Bye"I said angrily and left.
