Chino how can I be envious of what we had when your grand father was born. We already had airport far back which you guys are just trying to build, we lead while u follow.. Funny enough u don't deserve that airport, use asaba if you're coming to onitsha or use Enugu Airport if you're going to Awka... They'reore pressing needs in Anambra like tackling erosion and preventing fathers from raping their daughters.. Anambra needs to tackle that fast.. Also how will you feel if the airport is washed away by erosion like the rest of the houses in Anambra.. Let's be factual embarassed

Anambra can never be the capital... There is no single organised city in anambra.. What you have are slums and shanty with erosion pulling down most buildings.. Anambra should be busy or seen to be busy tackling it's numerous erosion sites and also bringing up its morals and see to it that their fathers stop raping their daughters.. Case closed... Anambra doesn't deserve an airport as well, they should use Enugu or asaba airport

Good work, the airport project is taking shape gradually. Keep up the good work.

Clearer view of Anambra international airport runway. They are working on the stone base of the runway. The runway is 3.6km, and can accommodate jumbo jets and wide body aircrafts. It is only the international airports in Lagos and Abuja that have such length of the runway.

Highly commendable!

If we can somehow manage to replicate this along many other major roads in the state, that would help purify the air we breathe and make the state conducive for habitation. Watch videos of our city neighborhoods and see how total lack of tree planting has truly made what would have been a great neighborhood into a concrete slum. You rarely find trees over a vast area. Don't we know that trees purify the air of the smoke and CO2 added by cars and other industrial pollutants? I wish someone can do a study on the number of death due to air pollution so that we can put the cost of this behavior of never planting trees into perspective.

Just 200 trees ?

I would think Obiano by now should have planted over 2 billion trees along all Anambra major roads. However , I dont know much about tree planting or the cost. Which make to want to ask questions ; so, are these trees expensive because I could be ignorant just like I thought all roads with the same distance cost same amount.

They need to put some sort of protective guard around those newly planted trees. If not, quite a good number will be damaged (stepped on...driven over...or just nicked) in under a month! Also, i hope they have made arrangements for someone to be watering them every evening, at least until they gain root and can manage on their own.

The ANSG has a parks department whose job it is to make sure that those trees are tended to and not just sit in office eating groundnut and receiving salary. Trees, Flowers are what makes cities livable. The British colonial government planted mango trees along Old Enugu Road from Onitsha to Enugu GRA. Many are still there providing shade and preventing erosion.

It is a good start.

One good initiative of Obiano was planting trees along the expressway between Amawbia and Amansea. Some you can see have started to grow. But the parks department do not take care of them!

For Onitsha the green belts at the Awka Road junction is tasteful and takes the edge off of the concrete jungle that is Onitsha. However, I hope the ANSG will look into creating neighbourhood green spaces in some of the hoods with trees, grass and concrete benches where people can relax in the evenings.
