It has been stated that you can only apply if you have an address in Germany
Is money required?

If you want to do PhD, go to a University otherwise go to a University of Applied Sciences.

If you are in IT, it doesn't really matter tbh but in other courses some companies prefer university graduates over those who attended University of Applied Science.

It depends on what you want to do in the future after studying.

https://www.academics.de/ratgeber/promovieren-fh-fachhochschule

You can use Google translate to read the article but if you really want to do PhD, I will advise you not to go to a University of Applied Science.

The fact is University of Applied Sciences prepare you to be job ready. It's curriculum is tailored towards a real practical world, unlike the the normal universities that is tailored towards research work, that is, more into the academia.

It is evident that that the school of applied sciences requires their professors to have at least 1 year working experience in the real world(not in academia). And there's always a mandatory internship that university of applied sciences had to go through, usually 6 months. And also, their thesis(bachelors or masters) is usually required to be done in the industry, not just university research.

Now, a new law has been passed that allows university of applied sciences to offer PhD programs.

I would say, if your reason to pursue a PhD is to be a professor or stay in the academic line, university is your choice, but if your career line is to be in the industry, the University of applied sciences could be a choice.

It's not like in Nigeria and yes it has everything to do with PhD. In Germany you have Technical Universities(TU9 for example), normal Universities and then Universities of Applied Science.

If you are not interested in PhD, then simply go to a University of Applied Science. Universities in Germany are meant to educate future researchers, University of Applied Science aren't set up like that cause it's more practical than research based hence why it's hard to be accepted into a PhD program after going to a University of Applied Science.

A degree in a University would take you 3 years, whereas in a University of Applied Science, it's 4 years.

Also, if you did your BSc in a german University of Applied Science and want to do your masters in a normal University, you will see that in most cases you will be required to write an aptitude test or you will be rejected because you didn't do the required courses in your Bsc.

If you attend a Studienkolleg in a University of Applied Science, you are only required to apply to Universities of Applied Science afterwards.

University graduates are also paid more, although the difference isn't that much.

There's a whole lot of difference, if you research deeper. It really depends on what you want to study because in IT for example, most people would want to work after their masters so it doesn't really matter.

The bolded is false, for university of applied sciences.

I don't know any university, applied or technical that the standard semester for bachelors is 8 semesters.

Normally, the standard is 6 or 7, depending if the course requires mandatory 1 semester of internship in the industry.

Hello, house, I filled health insurance form with Mawista but the insurance certificate they sent me is bearing my address as duteshland instead of Nigeria even though I filled my address as Nigeria. please is it right to submit the document that way for enrollment?
Please did you pay before getting the documents or would one pay when one gets to Germany?

Oh, I see. It is very weird and unusual, the university actually dedicated a whole semester (6months) for 1 project course of 5 credit Units. That's extremely weird.

And still, that's the unusual case. Maybe 1 in 100.

Hi guys, please I will be going to OTH Amberg-Weiden for my second degree (International Business). I have finished my online enrollment and the school just sent me a letter of presence stating that some of my courses will be in person. I have opened my blocked account with expatrio though still unfunded, got my statutory insurance exemption letter from TK and done my health insurance with Dr. Walter. I have also booked appointment with the consulate...pls what's the next step? I would appreciate it if someone can guide me properly.

Also is anyone going to my school with me? Or at least a school in Bavaria somehow close to mine. I would appreciate if we can rub minds together.

Good evening,

Yes, heading to Ingolstadt in Bavaria.
Pls sir, how did you obtain statutory insurance exemption letter from Tk? i have obtained health insurance letter from care concept which happen to be a private health insurance but my school is requesting for german Public insurance, beside i am above 30 years.

It would be really grateful if you can let me know the details.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

That's nice smiley...thanks for replying smiley.

I booked for appointment on the 18th of July, my AL came on the 16th. I am yet to get an AD, still hopeful and waiting.

I got the exemption letter from the TK guy that I found on my school FAQs section. He sent it to me after I applied for statutory Insurance and he realized that I don't qualify for it.

I will pm you now.

@ Revman

i would lik to know the details on how to obtain statutory Insurance.

Good morning everyone. I'm new here and I have a question. Please any information about certifying documents at the German embassy? I want to certify my documents, but someone told me they aren't doing that presently. Has anyone certified his/her documents of recent?

Thanks.

I was also admitted at Duisburg-essen.
The language course is not run by the school. We have to get a language school around the school to enrol.

Welcome to UDE.
