Mr Analyst, that's I not how cut off are released. cut off are based on participants scores.

what if all the student score below 60% of total mark, who will be recruited.

and that explains why many schools release their cut of mark after students write jamb exams.

I have heard of a case where dragnet had to reduce their cut off mark to accommodate candidate in a test

Can you see, you just proved me right -Nigerians are the problems of Nigeria. Be patient while reading. In the scenario I painted, the actual candidate's scores will be counted. For instance there are 3 slots available and we have candidates with the following scores - 90%, 98%, 87%, 70%, 85%, 91%. You only need to arrange these marked from highest to lowest, and count the 3 best candidates downward , there lies your cut off. Cut off means , from this point, we are cutting other candidates off. Read to comprehend always.

I have been hearing people saying this but I never believed, I used to think those people are just finding excuses for their failure. Now it has happened to me.

We applied for advertised jobs at the Oyo State Hospital Management Board around November last year, qualified applicants wrote CBT around February this year. The results were out around March and people who failed and passed were able to see/check their result one way or the other.

Now, wen the list for shortlisted candidates for interview was pasted just last week, it was not up to 10-20% of the people that passed. It became obvious that only connection worked here.

My question now is that, is this how we are going to continue in this country?

What exactly is the future of youths in Nigeria?

For how long are we going to remain this way?

Kindly share your experience if you have passed through a situation like this either on State or Federal level, I would also appreciate other people that applied, passed and denied employment in Oyo State Hospital Management Board to buttress this. I don't want to keep quiet because our silence keep making things worse in this country.

Below is the list of people that passed in my department. I'll upload the few list for the final shortlisted candidates next to it, just 18 people.
Apologies to anyone who might not like his or her name published, but I just have to do this, we can't continue this way in this country.

Mods, I'll really appreciate if you guys can move this to FP.

This country done bad so tey people go dey look you like alien if you dey upright.

But OP, test score is not the only criteria that an employer considers.
Others factors like:
Specific Skills Sets,
Work experience (the most important),
Education and Credentials,
Social/Public/Criminal records are also considered.

But laslas we go dey upright....
I pray God give you a better job.

You're right bro. It's not only test scores that was used. A very close person to me wrote the exam and passed. He wasn't shortlisted and we tried to find out from an insider what happened. It was then we realized that the grade D7 he had in Mathematics in his O-level result disqualified him even though he applied with his degree result. So, let's stop suspecting everything.

If five hundred people apply for just twenty spaces at a ministry, do you expect all 500 to be employed?

Be realistic.

FYI, I don't work for the government, and it is not like I don't accept that there is no corruption in government related employment .
Then, they should be transparent with it by conducting further tests/examinations and interview till they arrive at the accurate number of candidates.

If private organizations handle employment the way government always handle it in this country, what would be the fate of citizens that know "no people" then?

when d is a limited job offers 4 many people, d solution is 2 put things in place 2 reduce d number of people that will apply 4 d job. 4 e.g if d fg has a jobs offer for 800000 people, d can say d price of d job apps form is #200000, where people who paid & did not get the jobs, their money will b refunded with interest

I think it is wrong to generalize and say connection worked because not everyone who passed was called!

There would obviously be limited positions to be filled and usually only a few of those who passed will make it. You can make your ascertion only when you are one of the top guys and you werent picked... and even at that, several factors may be considered before final shortlisting.

Transparency or not, they can't employ everyone.

Which is what you and the op really want

Take NNPC recruitment recently. People were crying online like the op that only those with connections got job. Meanwhile, 45000 were applying for 6000 spaces.

Or one government job some of my friends applied for. Over 500 people, 200 or thereabouts who had letters from senators, governors and 33 from state House alone...for twelve places?

It is not always a matter of connections

You don't expect all that applied and passed to be hired. It's a matter of number of vacancies available

This is sickening... and it is so normalized, not even 1 kobo will go into the state account. Someone close to me applied for a state recruitment after passing all processes was told to bring 1m for a job that will pay about 180 monthly.

I really don't know where we want to start fixing this country. I think it's hopeless.

Very very sad

So sad I feel your pain

Connection works but there is something we are missing out here. Op didn't say those who were invited for interview are those who didn't pass but that they are few percentage of those who passed. In some cases, certain criteria are adopted to chose few out of those who ordinarily would have make it to the interview stage. Eg, close relationship of your field of study and the position to occupy, cut off mark, location, the connection etc.

Sometime in 2017, I was at federal University, Gashua, Yobe date. I applied for the post of assistant lecturer and was invited for a written test. After the test, the results were published that same day. I scored the highest. It was there, everyone could see it. I stayed back for the oral interview that same day. It was clear from my interview that I did very well. Some applicants and I were asked to send in our transcripts before the end of that week. I did immediately I got back to Ibadan.

I am still waiting for my appointment letter, lol. They distributed the job among their cronies. But that is not even the worry. Why will you have me risk my live through that bad road all night, spend a fortune only not to consider my result. If Federal university was looking for a sound applicant in literature that year, they would have sent a private jet to come get me wherever I was when they saw my score. Without sounding immodest, they should have handed me the appointment letter at the interview venue. This is one among many other stories like it.

In 2016. I applied for EFCC recruitment. Wrote the exams in Gombe, passed and attended medicals in Kaduna. I was called for interview. During the interview we were told we did well and the best of us was even from my LGA in borno state. But after everything, none of us were called. Even the best. He came with MSc forensics computing. He defeated 2 staffs of EFCC during puzzle.

2 of my friends are now detectives from that same recruitment exercises. One didn't even apply and was busy sleeping at home when we were writing exams. The other usually comes to the place of exam, medicals and interview but he didn't partake in any of them. Magu is his dad's friend. The one from zamfara knew one top govt female official
