What Is The Cost Of Living In Abuja?? by dukeprince50: 12:21pm On Sep 04, 2020
Good day nairalanders, I plan on relocating to Abuja but I do not know how expensive it is and what to expect, though I heard its a very expensive place.

I am just a young man in his late twenties, I won't be living in a place where the affluent lives neither do I need a place where the poorest lives lol, I just need a cool place, and oh I am not married so I am living alone, I am not extravagant in spending and I am also not a miser but just someone who will just lives average like every other young man out there.

Just see me as a guy who wants to live in a cool self contain rather one room or bedroom
I wish to know how much I'll budget for monthly expenses and cost of housing

Abuja is an extremely expensive city

That's what we all believe, truth is ABJ have all levels of people living here, from the extremely rich government individuals, to the scavengers you can find in most sitelite villages, the main town of FCT is actually surrounded by this villages, where majority of those who are of average and below income earners rest their heads after the day hustle, brother if you earn some reasonable bastard money you would live in places we call "town". So in essence, you might not have any problems if you will want to pay 150k for a self-contain apartment in this villages scattered around Abuja, then for feeding, it's better you have your foodstuffs (which is expensive though) at home and cook your meals rather than using fast foods restaurants, in most places a normal sized dish might not go below 500 naira, now three square meal a day plus your transportation fares might gulp a huge percentage from your income... So buy foodstuffs, use more of long buses for your trips until you are familiar with the best routes and cheaper means to use as ABJ isn't predictable transport-wise

If you plan staying for a long period of time, save up some money get a village land if you cannot afford a standard one, build your self a small home for yourself and your family and stop paying for rent as long as the government don't remember you and your neighbors... #stay safe

the last time i went to Abuja was early this year before the restrictions of covid began, To my surprise Abuja is having a surge in population, I guess Nigerians are done with the evil gridlock and waking up at 4am Lagos shenanigans. Suburbs like Lugbe and Gwagwalada are fast developing to contain regular hustling Nigerians escaping Lagos enmasse, I think at least Accommodation would be affordable in these areas. But as for the metropolis, 1 room apartment alone fit reach 500k

Major towns like Maitama, Gwarimpa, wuse and others are costly.

But it cost nothing to live in Aso Rock.

Abj is an overhyped slump, the only fine tin about it is that you can find a bunch of northern criminals that will be giving you crumbs during election time

There's no such thing as a cost of living in any place, it all depends on the area you choose to live.

We might live in the same area, same rent and our cost of living differs.

You might bought a cup of rice N50 and the guy next door gets his at the cost of N30.
