Good afternoon my fellow guys, I guess this should be my second post on nairaland. Am Emmanuel, a graduate of (petroleum engineering) and just concluded my services, as of March 2020. During my 400 level IT, was quite fortunate to do my IT at Department of petroleum resources and during that period my late father and I both agreed for me to do my masters outside the country, actually made a promise to me, not only we both agreed, people also suggested I do my masters abroad( Drilling eng to precise), because that was my bone of contention during my stay in the company, now he is dead, he died when I wanted to go for my 3wks orientation camp, may his soul rest in peace, as u know the money involved, when it comes to master abroad most especially in USA or country that produces oil can be very very expensive and my family don’t want to support me, I don’t mean financially aspect, they are not encouraging at all, they insist I stay in Nigeria and look for job, which am yet to secure up till now, since March( maybe due to pandemic or whatever, Now as the government have ease the lockdown on international flights, But this time I want to travel not school first, but will work at least for a year and during that year will be processing my school stuff and also applying for scholarship, because it will be easy 4 me over there(maybe part time), so guys with the limited money I have (4 million), which country can this money carry me to, to hustle and process my school stuff, most importantly the country that I can study drilling or any related course, I need ur advice what country can i travel to that study drilling or any related course and is the money enough, I need ur advice, thanks and GOD bless you.

My advice to you is to seek tuition free universities in Germany. You can study there with 4 million as your living expense and you don't have to pay for school fees... I tell you as someone who has vast experience with the German language, travel services and has also lived/studied in Germany.

OP I recommend Finland for you...

You'll never regret chosing that country

Finland has a relaxed Immigration policies to foreigners. After graduation, you would be given an additional six months permit to look for job and if you get one, you would be given a residence permit based on that, which would count towards naturalization if that is your long term plan.

If you get a part time job, you would live fine and also save up as a student too. but this are quite easy in the bigger cities like Tampere, Turku, helsinki, Espoo, etc where the probability of getting a job are probably higher than other small cities.

If you're earning well here in Nigeria I would advice you to make that money 5 million. Our currency is crashing but it you have a sponsor you're good to go.
4 million naira is not up 10,000eruos

And if you're ready to learn language then go for Germany... All the best

He can learn the language like everyone else going there. Otherwise, let him look for other cheaper countries like SA or Turkey.

I understand but no engineering degree is a waste, we have the technical skills to excel in diverse career path.

An MSc in Petroleum, Energy Economics and Finance won't hurt, especially if you intend to return to the country immediately after your studies. And depending on a few factors, your wish for an MSc in a school in the US, Canada, or Australia could become a reality, your obvious insufficient funds notwithstanding. Let me know if you're not above 22 years.

i would recommend an English language masters degree in Germany, it's tuition free but you should budget extra one million to fund the necessary block account, go the travel section and read up.

Looting the common wealth of the people in the name of a federal government contractor and using the looting money to help people won't make you a good person. Treasure looter. The EFCC is already waiting for you to return to the country. You must go down like your other associates.

According to linkedin jobs there's just 393 available vacancies for that section of engineering in all of Europe shocked. Men and petroleum engineering used to be one of the hardest engineering courses to get admitted into. Drilling engineering has just 177 with more than half posted six months back. Finland that was recommended has no job openings for petroleum engineering both on indeed and linkedin. If you study that there you would have to come back to naija and no job here too.
