Example :mechanical engineers, civil engineers, electrical engineers, computer scientist etc

Bros, I'm a chemical engineer so I'm speaking from experience. And secondly, chemical engineering is not about manufacturing soap, diaper or drugs ; its about processing. Another name for a chemical engineer is process engineer. Now why I'm I saying all this? Its simple : to enlighten those who(like you) are not chemical engineers and who, are completely clueless on the challenges facing chemical engineering in Nigeria .

The petroleum field is even worse and you see electrical, civil, mechanical engineers working in the field and later petroleum engineers. Look very well in the oil field na HND guys they work for there no be lie. Training university graduate is quite expensive for companies and top it up with this corona virus. OP go for computer science and learn the core of it school will not teach you the skills you need

In this century, success is not defined or restricted by the course you studied or where you studied it. Success is in you! First find out what you have personal interest in so you can sail through challenges you are going to face ahead while at school. Studying popular courses do not guarantee or translate to being successful in it in the future. Where other failed, you might succeed depending on how hard working you are. Remember that formular that works for one person might not work for another person.

Even if you study computer science and you are not hardworking to experiment things for yourself; you may still end up being jobless or relegated to data entry clerk if you are not loaded with relevant ideas for modern computing and programming after graduation. Here are options for you to consider:

At this level, you can take Chemical engineering offer while you maintain your plan B of passionately developing interest in IT along. At master/PGD level, you can switch over to computer science/engineering or electrical electronic engineering (electronic or telecommunication option ), system engineering to pitch your tent in IT world

If you are financially buoyant, you can run the two courses at the same time since the schools are too close apart. You have opportunity to choose between computer science part-time or full time (without written PT on your certificate ) at Yabatech. With this, you can run full time chemical engineering in unilag then at night 6-10pm, go for lecture at Yabatech (PT) for computer science. (Mon - Friday). At weekend, you rest and do your assignment or go for tutorial of your choice.

However, if you are not financially buoyant and you do not like chemical engineering passionately, you can go for computer science full-time at yabatech. If you can work harder and come out with at least distinction or upper credit at ND level. And if you also passed further maths at credit level @ waec. You can go to unilag to study computer science, computer engineering or electrical electronic via OND direct entry.

If you prefer chemical engineering, try to begin your personal research early enough starting by trial and error via youtube video and other resources available via internet. Starting your personal research from 200 level after you build good GP for yourself. School will teach you theory, try to experiment as many as you can or watch video relating to such experiment online. If you do that consistently, you will develop extra skills above your peers that will make you remain marketable or self-employed.

Finally, if you are not a naturally endowed genius, sorry to disappoint you that you will need to cut down on many excesses while studying any of the two courses; if you determine to be two-miles ahead of your course mates after graduation.

If you are weekend party-clubing type or too socially engrossed, you have to trim it down to remain self-made exceptional genius otherwise, to remain at the same level with your peers who will graduate and flood the market looking for jobs by luck and not competence. Do nothing extra!
