MrColdsweat:
A football innovation called attracting the press and bypassing the overload. This is used to draw the opponents in your own half so that the opponents half will be isolated. Attacks are more effective with space. Look at how hard Liverpool had to work to break Chelsea down as a unit. It is always easy to attack and score goals when your opponents are running back to defend than scoring when your opponents are sitting deep(parking the bus)

Watch man city vs Liverpool 4:0 and the recent community shield last month to see how city and arsenal used this strategy to defeat Liverpool.

Sadly, that innovation backfired because all the goals were scored against the team that was implementing that innovation of playing around in their own goal area as against that of their opponents goal area.

Chelsea seems to be the only team always experimenting with this suicidal innovation.

If timo had scored today and we still played so badly then there wouldn't be any cause for celebration from my end since I was also very critical of our first game even though we won but it felt like a loss to me because the result wasn't a true reflection of what we played and today's defeat should have been the second and celebrating our first victory would have amounted to being delusional on my part because we where very abysimal.

I didn't expect us to play so purposelessly and parking the bus immediately the game started was so disgusting to watch and we did same BS on our first game with a championship team that just got promoted which means that Lampard spent close to 300 million pounds on players just to pack the bus? Thats unforgiveable

I don't think you understand fully what tactic Lampard is using that's why you're getting mad. He isn't parking the bus, he's just playing a low defensive line. Arteta is currently playing that. Madrid also use to play that when Ronaldo, Di Maria and Ozil were blazing. It's a long ball counter strategy. Long ball counter will make your team appear like it's playing shitee but if they get it right you'll score alot of goals. Similar to how Spurs attack looked today. It's both basic and genius actually with players like Pulisic and Werner to run in behind the defence with mad pace and Havertz and Ziyech to whip those pin point crosses, it'll work fantastically BUT it takes time to perfect it and they all need to play at the same time. Can't have quality players injured and expect Mount to position like Pulisic or Kante to cross or have vision like Ziyech. It's just Chelsea's bad luck lol.

When an entire team retreats to it own half from the blast of the whistle and stays there for 90 minutes while hoping to catch it's opponent in counter attack while leaving just a lone striker up-front, that is the definition of packing the bus and there is no other terminology to disguise this ill-fated cowdice of a tactics.

Can't be too sure about winning Arsenal these days. Only way I can be sure is if Klopp is giving a midfield of Thiago, Keita and Henderson with a False 9 Bobby serious training drills on how to break defence through the middle and not always waiting for a Trent or Robbo cross. If because Kepa and Jorginho handed us a win today we think we're good to go na lie o. The chances we created were not clear cut at all and Arsenal maintain a very annoying low line of defense worse than Chelsea and they do it very well. West Ham probably had to play the same formation as Arsenal because they didn't know what to do so I really hope I see a different Liverpool next week Monday. It's humiliating losing to Arsenal.

grin that's what it'll look like because the speed and quality of ball moving from defence to attack is complete shiite. The main tool Ziyech is missing. No creative freedom, no focus play. Pulisic's pace too is needed.

Even BBC's analysis on Chelsea's game said exactly the same observations I made.

Here are some extracts

"In the wider context, Chelsea and Lampard's negative approach came as a surprise, arguably exaggerating the already very large gulf in class between themselves and their visitors"

"What also raised eyebrows was the home side's passive, conservative gameplan that handed impetus to Liverpool from the first whistle, something they were more than happy to accept"

"Chelsea got so stuck in a rigid defensive rut, hoping Werner's pace would threaten on the counter-attack, that they could not get out".

"Lampard's strategy was even more high-risk against Liverpool given the fact both his goalkeeper and the current Chelsea defence represent accidents waiting to happen, which they duly did. An already nervous defence is frayed even further by a nervous keeper".

"Lampard can still reflect on the fact he will soon have the ability to add touches of class and experience but the lack of ambition in Chelsea's approach was disappointing, as was the result".

Nope, calm down man, plan well before putting your head into trouble. My cousins had to go to Abuja because of it and they also had to do some running around meaning that you need a visa. But let it be known that the country's standard of living is a bit high.

i definitely know Arsenal has improved in dir game plan lately, which explains why dey ripped us off d community shield. However, I sure know sths here, Firstly, Arsenal can never pull a surprise at Anfield, dey'll only try. Secondly, we are improving with each passing game as usual... A combination of Fabinho, Alcantara and Keita in d midfield will do d job to ensure we hold possession and of course, with more possessions, dere is d greater tendency for more goals..

Was Chelsea not going to make mistakes due to too much passing at the back.. Chelsea fans should stop blaming kepa abeg is lampard tactics any better... the only player that played well is Werner

The goal keeper had the option to kick the ball far away from the goal area. The defenders also have a blame. It seems the glory days of Chelsea is yet to return. This is the worst Chelsea team I have ever seen. I hope they don't get relegated at the end of the season. Crystal Palace and Leeds United will trash this squad unless something is done in their playing pattern.

I agree with you. They did in the defence and midfield but going front Chelsea had no chemistry hence, no shots on target in first half. But it was only a matter of time. Even without the red card, Mane would have definitely gotten to that ball first and finished off. Liverpool's second goal, that build up, even a team of 15 will not stop that. It was just too gravy.
Liverpool too still have some work to do upfront. That 17/18 front 3 that dazzled haven't found their rhythm yet. And now that we have Thiago, we should build the squad(midfield) around him. That means taking off Wijnaldum. He's too unintelligent to play beside Thiago. Our focus should be Thiago, Keita and Firmino. Training drills on 1-2 passes. Something like a mini tiki taka between the 3 of them and allow Firmino to drop deep more in False 9 or permanently play CAM in a 4-2-3-1 with Jota upfront. With this squad depth, I think we can go ahead to grab the treble grin
You seem to have a lot of ideas there grin But ain't no way in hell you guys are gonna do the treble. Not with Man City breathing down your necks. Bro, sacrificing Wijnaldum would leave your midfield a bit leaky. You might suffer against very attacking teams. Don't be so sure you'd be able to impose possession football on every team
