There’s a lot I don’t know, but it seems to me that the best way to practice Christianity (the faith not the religion) is to do it the way Jesus Christ did. Or at least to do what he said in Luke 9:23(…Take up your cross and follow me) and Mark 12:31 (…You shall love your neighbour as yourself).

As you can guess, the first test for every Christian is to take up a cross and follow Christ. It didn’t say we should take up our neighbour’s cross. He said, take up YOUR cross. Now, we all have individual crosses, we have challenges that only we can and should bear. And leaving yours to carry another person’s cross isn’t only disobedient but inconvenient. I don’t know about you, but life is stressful enough as it is, and I only have Grace and strength for my cross.

However, it doesn’t only stop at carrying your cross. You have to do it with love and kindness in your heart. Years ago, I read a quote that said “Thank God we don’t look like what we’ve been through” and for some time, I thought it meant physically. But over time, I have realized the truth in that statement. And that is the second test.

How well do you love while bearing your cross?

God’s greatest commandment is to love one another just as He loves us. No matter what you go through, no matter how heavy your cross is, no matter how far you have carried it or how far you still have to take it; one thing remains: that you should not let the troubles of this world overcome you. That you should love just as Christ loves, and soon, you will reap the rewards of obedience.
Talking about rewards and love, one of the most rewarding decisions I made this year is to actively seek out a community where I can show and receive genuine love. This community has helped me grow spiritually, socially and financially. Now more than ever, it is crucial for Catholics to stick together, and that is what WOWCatholic.com is for.

The only thing God demands of us is to obey his laws and commandments.. Anybody telling you anything else is leading you astray..

God's laws are truth, life and the way.. Anything outside it is paganism..
