Afonjas will never cease to amaze me. If you are a hypocrite then you be Confam Afonja. We should all know that Lagos is what it is because of collective effort by various ethnic groups. The Yorubas never really made Lagos what it is. IT IS A COLLECTIVE EFFORT. Imagine if the Igbos never went into business in Lagos how the whole Nigeria would have been. No electronics, no industrialization. No banks, no Knowledge.
Those Boasting of GDP, How many Yorubas own companies or run businesses in Lagos. If it is not education which is a farce you guys claim to be good at. HOW MANY IDIGENOUS YORUBA COMPANIES ARE IN EXISTENCE IN THE WHOLE NIGERIA.
Many of you mentioning bigots are working for the bigots which makes you a bigger bigots.

I disagree with you to an extent. I know Lagos very well like the back of my palm. On Ambode, I wouldn't say he did a great disservice as such cos if you understand the corrupt bureaucracy of the lawma system, it is almost occultic and the players are majorly party loyalist who are benefitting from the largess at the expense of the state government. Do you know how much those lawma guys rake in a month? Collecting minimum of N3000 from every residential flat and N5000 from commercial premises! And the money is share to a few who are allowed to operate the trucks, most of them are funders, loyalist, party faithfuls of the bourdillon clan. You can't just get a truck and be part of the FAM, you have to be something. A strong political backing especially the ruling party.

Ambode is aware of this and he knows that funding for some of the political weight also comes from this structure hence why he decided to turn the tables around. He wanted to change the approach, then the state to control it and not some political godfathers but he wasn't careful and not gradual. He didn't think it thru on his strategy. However, nobody is perfect. Apart from that the guy tried.

If I were in his shoes on waste management, I would open up the business to every and any lagosians that can afford to run a truck and reassign locations of coverage and ensure standards. That way, clean Lagos will be sustain will rebuilding the system that has been so manipulated and defrauded by these political godfathers. Although that small experience taught them not to take the operations for granted cos they have no excuse now.

Ambode was a fool, if the bill was too much, then use your executive power to reduce it, that's what brilliant leaders do. Any wise leader will not fix what's not broken. The LAWMA and the BRT system [political or not] were working excellently well that Ghana and other west african countries came to Lagos to learn. Lagos was getting cleaner by the day even places like ijora. In my area they had an office where you can go personally to pay and get official receipt which can also be used as utility bill for documentations like bank account opening and the likes. It was a perfect system working so well that twice a week Tuesdays and Thursdays the LAWMA trucks comes to my street to pack all the trash. It was also a scheme employing hundreds of thousands of people.

What is good is good. Ambode messed up the Lagos environment all because of his greed and he was simply booted out, since then it's been difficult to get back to that perfect system cos it's so easy to build than destroy. Another Ambode failure was relegating the Lagos State Public works that was fixing state roads through the direct labour system where hundreds of thousands of Lagosians were employed, this is why Lagos roads became so bad and the present govt is trying to revive that again. Another system was the women empowerment skills program that the former deputy gov adefulire was coordinating where women were taught baking, tailoring and so on for free, My mum and sisters were beneficiaries and run their small scale businesses today. Ambode cancelled that as well which angered even the civil servants. You can't keep throwing out the baby water and the baby itself.

Ambode met lots of working systems in Lagos but messed it up due his personal lack of exposure and tact. He is the reason everyone feels those before him and the present govt are not doing enough. He slowed down the Lagos development master plan.

Okay. Apologies. I would urge you to try and find the difference between FG, lagos local Government and Lagos State responsibility before you blame everything on Sanwo Olu and Lagos State. I never hear anyone here talk about Lagos local government or FG in relation to the problems of Lagos.Everything is about Sanwo Olu and LASG. It is wrong.

Romans were constructing roads over 2 millenia ago. We still deem it necessary to hold elaborate festivities for new roads. Says a lot about how level of development.

Edo is a shithole and a backward state and can never be Lagos.

You can see what Sanwo-Olu is doing in Lagos, where is the equivalent by Obaseki?

By saying Edo is not Lagos, you mean Lagos state don’t deserve APC because Tinubu select governors but the same Lagos boast of success while Edo with the unproductive Obaseki are turning nuisance daily on Nairaland.

Edo cannot be Lagos because a backward state cannot ever be compared to a more prosperous state like Lagos.

I’m not fighting Edo people, I am just re-echoing their words that EDO is NOT LAGOS!

Lagos is about collective effort just like Abuja , the progress of Lagos and Abuja , belongs to federal government and entire Nigerians including the Edo people , sometimes u ask yourself why ondo or osun are not lagos too

Mine is that we should be facing the topic , sanwo olu is doing a good job that's what we supposed to be saying here , someone can be supporting sanwo olu and hate tinubu , don't force tinubu on people .

The progress of Lagos state has nothing to do with federal capital, the FG or whatever collective people you are talking about.

FG left Lagos for dead many decades ago and whaver progress and development Lagos is enjoying is because of their governors, leadership, their rules, laws, programs, policies, agencies and sense of duty, not because of you from your village.

Lagos is progressing today because Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo Olu met good financial structure and foundation on the ground created by another great former governor with good foresight and intelligence, I'm talking about Tinubu.

Without Tinubu turning Lagos state's poor N500 million per month IGR into a N39 billion per month jouganut, more than 29 state's IGR combined, 33 times more than Edo's IGR.

You can hate Tinubu all you want for whatever pointless and hateful reasons you desire, but his achievement in Lagos is everlasting.

Ambode was a huge speed bum, he slowed us down unnecessarily, I never liked him and I was glad when we got rid of him.

There's a reason why Lagosians didn't raise a finger to save his job like they did for Fashola.

Lagosians don't like useless and incompetent leaders.
