Over the years, Internet advertising has transformed a lot of things.

People can easily get their products or services to the faces of their customers.

This means good business for everyone.

Mark Zuckerberg is happy, you are happy, your supplier is happy, everyone is happy.

In 2020, there are 2.7 billion people who actively use Facebook...

This means, you can advertise to the entire world...

Don't mind me, just kidding.

But, in Nigeria, Facebook users hover around 27.46 million.

This number is projected to hit 43.53m before 2025.

So, do you still want me to go on to tell you why you should advertise online?

Okay, i will.

First, imagine if you could get your product or services to reach 0.001% of potential customers around the country?

Now, what this offers you is an unlimited access, an almost level-playing ground with the top brands.

Thing is, selling online isn't just about opening up social media handles, posting and hoping to make sales.

Of course, that works too. But you'd be smashing more sales, closing more deals, and smiling home when you run targeted ads.

When we talk about Facebook, we are talking Instagram too, messenger, WhatsApp, and all the Facebook businesses.

It is just incredible what you can achieve with these these tools.

So, my friend, if you are not advertising on the online, then, verily verily i say to you, thou at leaving a lot of more on the table.


I will head in straight, tell you all the things you need to know and have before you can start running ads on Facebook.

To be able to run Ads on the Facebook platform, you need to have the following.

1. A Facebook page.

This is different from your regular Facebook profile.. It is the one you can run ads on.

You can't run ads on your personal profile directly.

So, you need to create Facebook pages inside your personal account.

If you are rendering a service, or you want your business in your name, you have to create a page with your name.

There's not limited to the number of pages you can create, so, you have fun.

2. You need an Instagram account.

This is necessary if you want to link your page directly to Instagram or vice-versa.

Note: It's not compulsory to have both of them... You can still display your ads from Facebook to the Instagram, and from Instagram to Facebook without having both accounts.

I seriously hope this explanation makes sense.

3. Facebook Ad account.

You need an ad account to be able to run ads. This is a must.

Good thing is, everything you need is completely free.

So, you are in charge.

There are some things you should know before you start advertising..

1. You have to obey the Facebook policies. As we go, i will try to explain some of them.

2. You must never use the "Boost post, Boost page" options you find in your page.

It's true that Mark is a nice guy, but using boost is a complete waste of money.

You will end up throwing money away, dash Mark your money.

But Mark is a rich guy, if anything, he should be the one to be gifting you money..

To run ads efficiently and profitably, you have run it from the Facebook business account..

I will explain briefly.

Facebook Polices

First, you have to read up and obey all Facebook Polices.

The most common ones are that,

1. You must not bully people, through your words, videos, or images.

No body shaming and all sorts.

If you do, you will be banned.

2. You must not sponsor illegal products, sex related products, medicines, affiliate, Mlm, etc.

3. You must not make bogus promises like ponzi schemes, gambling, etc.



However, there are ways to properly do them, and not incur the wrath of Mark...

This way, you can advertise anything you actually want to advertise.

Post Boost

In your page, you will always get prompts to boost your page or post..

I say, verily to you, you must not do it.

To run a successful ads, with proper audience insight and authority, you have to do it from the backend. The business account and admanager.

When you just tap on the boost post, your results will most likely be poor and inconsistent..

You will be spending more to make sales.

You will be dashing Mark plenty money..

So, always remember, you have Togo through your admanager to run a proper audience insight, before you publish an ad.

This will lead you to more sales at an alarmingly low cost.

Before you fully start running ads, you must first know why you want to run the ads..

Because, ads are in a variety of ways, and for different goals or target.

For instance, people run ads for brand awareness, they don't expect to make sales, they just want people to know about them.

Some can run for the purpose of building trust. This could be to impress or convince their potential investors or clients.

Others are solely to make sales.

It's important to have this clarity before you launch your ad, because that's how you are going to know of your ad was a successful one or not.

If you run a brand awareness campaign for the purpose of making sales, you will end up not making sales. This doesn't mean the ad failed, it means you had a different goal. One not suitable for the campaign type you used.

This works so because Facebook and other ad coy target people based on their behaviour and interests.

Facebook knows you more than you know yourself.

They know people who will most likely buy, those who would just engage with your ad, does who will click, etc.

So, you must know, and align your goals with the campaign type that best suits it.

Regardless of the type of ad goal you have, your ad must have the following.

1. Audience

2. Creative.

3. Productive or Service

4. Call to Action.

1. Audience

These are the people you are targeting.. They can be from any category or gender.

2. Creative

This houses your ad copy, your image or video.

Your ad copy is the write up you want to your target audience to see. We will talk more on that.

3. Product or Service

This your goods or services you are offering... It would also be a part of the creative. Like a picture of the products, video, or ad banners.

4. Call to Action

This is the almost the most important part. You want your audience to do something after seeing your ads. That's where you tell them.

Order now. Buy now, send a message, click the link below, etc. All those are a call to action.

For instance, let's use this jumia ad that just popped on my time line.

The purple line is the ad copy or sales copy.

The orange line is the Creative..

The green line is the Call to action.

And the audience..

These are the people that Jumia wants to reach...
