Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has suspended its planned nationwide strike that would have started today, Monday, September 28, in protest against the hike in pump price of fuel and electricity tariff.

Earlier, there were indications that the Federal Government and NLC might reach an agreement to avert the looming nationwide strike.

The Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo(SAN) tweeted that there was hope the industrial crisis might be avoided.

He stated on his verified Twitter handle(@fkeyamo): “Still negotiating with labour at exactly 12.34am. Some progress have been made. Concrete proposals on the table from both sides.

“Details being worked on by the temporary Secretariat. Gradually moving towards a point of convergence. Let’s hope….”

Furthermore, a source told Vanguard that it is possible the tariff will be suspended for two weeks, but said nothing specific about fuel pump price.

The source also said a joint government/Labour committee will be set up to review the issues within those two weeks.

Vanguard also learned that a communique is being hammered out, an indication that some sort of agreement had been arrived at.

Recall that Vanguard reported that the issue of pump price hike had links with IMF, the World Bank and other international finance bodies Nigeria is indebted to.

Well scripted. To what point do the toothless bull want to embark on strike. Bringing back #97 or #145. Nonsense.

This is Nigeria, nothing surprises some of us again.

We all saw it coming.
This labour is too predictable.
They sold out Nigerians.
The government just use this to deceive them.
Expect those tarriffs to return in the coming months.

We don't have an active Labour unions at all, all we have are hustlers and scavengers.

A Cigarette smoker without money can leave
his house with faith that when He gets to
the joint his friends will buy for him and for
sure even without begging, his friends will
say guy take one stick. That's Love.
A guy who loves beer without money can
leave his house to a beer parlour with faith
that his gang members will buy for him and
for sure even without asking, his friends will
say guy take one bottle. That's love.
But can a hungry/jobless person leave his
house to a religious organisation with faith
that someone will give him money to come
and eat
Where is the love that we preach everyday?
Have you bothered to ask a member of your
church.religious organisations how life is
treating them? People go through a lot and
only few will voice out.
Someone will sow 1million naira seed in a
religious gathering but beg him for 1k out
side he will say no money.
This is why it's easy for the devil to confuse
young minds to join bad gang because they
even show love more than most people that
preach love.
We the religious people really have to step
up and start practising this love that we
preach. I hope that I am communicating?

shocked shocked
we knew NLC had a meeting last night in the Presidential banquet hall which we know Money bag changed hands, we've got no trust in you anymore. We were expecting to be disappointed, shocked. We thought you will make us believe in the Nigerian Labour Congress once again.
We thought this strike will go on with the way things are very bad in Nigeria.

Ayuba wabba, we know you are a politician and not fighting for the interests of the masses and we will remember that when you eventually come out for a political position.
