Hello Legacyedition

I know of an applicant that uploaded just the certificate and got his visa. I don’t know if there’s any rule regarding that.

Best wishes

Thanks. So much appreciate.

No,

U will upload the Certificate and those other pages having your Finger prints & other information

and by the way don't be too bothered about the number of Pages, what u should be bothered about is the 4.00 MB / 4.09 MB file upload limit

Done, thanks boss..

i am really surprised at the high refusal rates these days. for some reason it almost seems like the refusals are more than the approvals.
it’s very important to order gcms notes then reapply immediately as this doesn’t make sense. address the mistakes from the visa officer in your application assessment as well. this is the type of case that can be easily won at judicial review

Just like life, Canada SP application process is chaos, success is arbitrary and IMO, the only constant is being consistent with putting in the best effort. I have been on this thread for a while now, ever since I had the SP dream. I don't have it again for now but I still keep myself updated for information purpose. Obviously, using the NL environment as a metric, rejection seems to be dominant. If I will advice any applicant:

1. Work on your LOE/SOP: I think no Nigerian should submit an application without an SOP, it will be a huge gamble. And please, don't be random about it. The process should start right from when you are choosing a course, to when you are applying to the school, to when you actually got the admission, and finally to when you are applying for SP. Make your SOP make sense, dot all the I's and cross the T's. Personalize it, tell a story, your own story. Most importantly, just like we do in Academic research, anticipate danger. What do I mean by this. Let's say you are going for an MBA, there are obviously tonnnes of schools offering it in Nigeria at cheaper prices, tonnes of distant Learning/online MBA from reputable international institutions. You have to acknowledge that in your SOP and then give a logical reason why that Canadian school/Canadian MBA is the right choice for you. There are lots of these holes to plug. In summary, anticipate the danger, acknowledge the danger, give logical reasons. SOP should not be what you right in a day or two, especially if your own case is complicated.

2. Documents: I always ask myself this question. How many of the documents we submit are actually authentic? How many can be easily verified especially when most of these documents have no digital trail? Bank statement? LOA? Deeds? Land documents, survey plans, valuations? Pay slips? Appointment letters? How many? My answer is LOA and bank statement, yours can be different. Most of these VOs know that these documents can easily be gotten from anywhere and pay no real cognisance to them. I have been on two different live sessions of ex-US consular officers where they acknowledged this. One who worked in China said they know a place people get them in Shanghai. My point is don't think most of those documents will save you, yes you can add them, but don't let them be your strongest points

3. Home ties: I guess this is mostly economic or social ties. I think if you are young-ish (maybe between 17 to 25), don't let your home ties be your parent's properties, they are not yours and the VO doesn't expect you to have those properties. Instead focus on job prospects, let your parent's properties be only additional points. Older applicants have the luxury of economic and social ties; job prospects, properties, family etc

In summary, work on your bank statement and SOP. Tell your story, cover everything, apply like it is your only chance.
I don't think there's is a formula to a successful SP approval but I think we can still do our part

your summary is very apt. i couldn’t have agreed less . i submitted few documents with my application . but the key elements for me were my finances which was solely in my accounts. no hubby or sponsor and i did a very very detailed sop with a table for my fees and all expenses. needless to say, it worked superbly. so many of my school mates have reached out to me on our facebook page who had full funding and didn’t bother writing sop and got denied.
you need to sell your self in your application .

It seems they made a clerical error. They already put a note that the eligibility note was entered by mistake, so I wouldn't worry about it, especially, if you received medical and AIP after the date they made the error. Can you share what you have on note 2 and note 1? Did they enter any other note after the one they entered in error?

Thanks for your comment , no other note was entered besides this note.

Gentle Disclaimer.

please i am not writing sop’s professionally or charging fees so kindly note that i will only respond when and if i am able to as i also have obligations to fulfill at my job, home and in school. I will NOT write sop for anyone but i can share a few tips and probably preview if time permits me. this is to discourage people from setting their hopes on another human being( me) who is prone to mistakes as well.

i have responded to a few people over the past couple of weeks despite my schedule but i wouldn’t want to be under any form of pressure from anyone i am rendering assistance to.

cheers.

Hi @Ausvanmart,

Thanks for the response. I think securing a supervisor is common in the sciences where you fall. As you know PhD is research-intense work and admission is highly competitive. Your prospective supervisor(s) need you to show research interests and preparations with at least a conference presentation, research lab experience, or publications. But you may be able to scale this hurdle by having a superbly crafted research proposal in your application. You need to show a clear thought and research idea when reaching out to prospective supervisors. Also, check through diverse program offerings with different requirements to identify which one you best fit in. Vary your prospecting strategy; don't fixate on a single program. Its great that you already identified three to four courses/areas that your "covid-19" interest may fit. I think if you can emphasize your experience in the isolation center (with some anecdotes or preliminary or even publicly available covid burden data: rates of infection, recovery, death, duration of infection statistics). Why do you think Nigeria's infection rate remain low regardless of certain risks factors present may be one puzzle to start from, if you are pursuing the public health track. My point is it is tough but not impossible as long as you are ready and able to put in the work required.

Best wishes.
Ausvanmart:
Thank you for your response. My first degree is medicine and surgery (2010, Nigeria)cGP unclassified. Second degree Masters in Public Health (2015, Nigeria) cGP 3.95/5 . Working in primary care clinic since after internship in 2011. MPH thesis topic on cervical cancer awareness amongst rural women. No publication yet. Target program is public health/clinical epidemiology or immunology and infectious diseases and COVID-19 is the focus currently working in Covid-19 isolation center since may.
I really need a guide.

Welcome on board. Can you provide a summary profile? Degrees and grades, current work, research and publication experiences, age (doesn't matter really because I am 41), target PhD program and topic etc. What you need to know upfront is that each person's PhD admission, funding and study permit journey is unique. Finally, there are different processes and requirements for securing admission and funding peculiar to different disciplines and universities. When you come back with response to my questions, I am sure we will get help from more experienced folks on here.

Cheers.

MY SOP
A PSSSIONATE PLEAD

My suggestions below is my opinion and you can choose to act on or disregard it. Answers to questions are in Blue font

A PASSIONATE PLEA as your heading sounds somehow to me. It sounds like "I am about to read a letter from someone who wants to appeal to my emotions rather than present facts to tackle the refusal reasons". I suggest you change your heading but the final decision is yours to make

REASON 1
BASED ON THE LIMITED EMPLOYMENT PROSPECT IN YOUR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE?

For this reason, that is why I want to further in computer science studies. I am not going to be seeking employment but will be an employer of labor.

Okay you have told the visa officer WHAT you want to do (Computer Science) but HOW will you achieve this? You will not seek employment but will be an employer of labor. Do you already have a land? Where is the land? If you don't need a land, how do you want to be an employer of labor and how will that compel you to come back home?
It is not enough to just mention to the visa officer the WHAT and stop there, you need to explain the HOW.

I want to develop the educational sector from the cradle classes that why I want to be vast and learn the foundation of computer science from the experts so as to attain professionalism, and be updated frequently with all current happenings in that field. To establish relationships with like minds that will help build my country hence creating employment for our youths and raising young professionals in the field to research and come up with new ideas to better the World at large.

Again, all you have done is describe. No matter how fantastic these goals you have are, if you do not let the visa officer know how you want to achieve them, he may not take you serious.

You want to develop the educational sector (I even think this is too broad) but are there specific existing opportunities in this field and HOW will the skills you will acquire on completion of your program help in taking advantage of these opportunities? What skills will you acquire post graduation and can you explain the importance of these skills to you as a person in fulfilling your dreams and goals?

REASON 2
BECAUSE OF YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYMENT SITUATION?

I am gainfully employed as I personally earn a total of #281,208 monthly from jobs I do(as captured in the finical activities in my account statement). I am a skilled baker, a behavior therapist, an assistant data analyst (documents attached) and a forex trader. Also, I have other investments that brings in a minimum of #500,000 quarterly.

You have other investments, can you mention the name? Do you have proofs? If you cannot, please don't mention it.

Aside this I have my husband who deals in millions monthly and has personal investments with returns of over #800,000 monthly (as captured in the finical activities of his account statement) and landed property.

Your husband deals in millions will not convince the visa officer. What does he do (be specific), and make sure you attach proof of what he does. Also, what does the financial status of your your hubby mean for you? You need to remind the visa officer that this means you and your husband can comfortably take care of your needs in Canada. Don't just mention the millions, state the importance of all these millions to your studies, your stay in Canada and also to your hubby who will stay back home in Nigeria. Will paying your fees and feeding you affect your husbands business? If no, explain and let the Visa officer know. He wont know except you tell him.
Have you made any payments to your school? mention it.

We are gainfully employed, and I will return home for Nigeria is a fertile ground for growth and introductions of new potent ideas. Nigeria has the market and population to help one to succeed but lark professional touch in training, all I need in Canada is the professional skills to take my relevance and value in my county to the next level.

Think about it, what does the bolded statement mean?

It's like somebody asking you for 1 million naira and he tells you, if you give me 1 million naira now, in 2 years time, I will triple the capital. You then ask him, HOW will he make the money and he says...opportunities plenty die, madam, na fertile ground o. You ask again, abeg tell me how you go take make the money, he answers, I say madam, the business na better fertile ground o, I say Naija too fertile. No specifics atall, no break down. Will you give the person the money?

Focus on the HOW and WHY.

How = How will you fund your studies?

WHY = Why will you spend so much money on this program

What will make you return home after spending so much money on your studies in Canada? Tell a story, sell that story, stick to that story all through your application and be specific.

REASON 3
BECAUSE OF YOUR PURPOSE OF VISIT?

My purpose of visit is to equipped myself and be grounded fundamentally, socially, professionally and knowledgably in the computer science field so as to enable me add more value and reach out to more people of my county and beyond.

The bolded statement is too broad, not specific and it feels like something lifted off the internet. Own your SOP and make it about you.

Your major purpose of Visit is education. In this section, you will need to focus on WHAT, WHY and Outcome.

Explain to the visa officer you are a genuine student by clearly stating what you intend studying towards. Don't just stop there, mention one or two courses from your proposed program and then explain how these courses will help in achieving your short and long term goals back home in Nigeria.

For example, my purpose of visit is to study towards XYZ degree which will enable me achieve XYZ skills, which help in actualizing .......................Two core courses of my program XYZ that made me interested in this program are the Operations Management and Inventory and Distribution Management.

I believe the course Operations Management would give me the relevant knowledge needed in managing businesses efficiently and ensure better management of resources. The second course, which is the inventory and Distribution Management, would give me the XYZ skills in ensuring the effective distribution of goods to meet clients. This is important to me because my family business in Nigeria is planning on expanding its base to other locations and on completion of my degree I will be XYZ. The skills I would acquire form this program such as ..... would ......

If you read the brief example above, It tells the visa officer

(1) As a student, you have taken time to study what the program is all about on the schools website by mentioning 2 core courses of the program.
What are you trying to do? It is all about conditioning the mind of the visa officer towards a desired outcome. The Visa officer begins to think, maybe this woman is a genuine student.

(2) You mentioned the what (your program), the why (I plan on taking over the family business in Nigeria) and the outcome/benefit which automatically explain and justifies spending huge funds towards your education in Canada.

I love and am passionate about this course, its my dream course and I have all plans in place on what I will achieve once I return to my county after my studies. Truthfully, my word is my bond.

Hello ma, your word is your bond? You have all plans in place on what you will achieve once you return to the country after studies? You did not mention WHAT the plans are and HOW you will achieve them.....

I love my county and the only way to help the current situation in my country is to start the work now in the area I have strength, passion and interest in, which is computer science and I want to give it the UNIQUE BEST and that is why I want to study with the best around the World

I will be most grateful if my request is granted as this will be an open door to achieving my dream and desire to contribute greatly in lifting Nigeria higher.
Thanks
Yours faithfully

Conclusion

Honestly, you have done well by taking time out to write your SOP but you still have a lot of work to do.

There are so many other things to add but it is midnight here and I feel sleepy already.

Next time, don't post your SOP on a public forum.

I wish you all the best.

Hi everyone,
I want to know if it is good to submit my bank statement alongside my sponsor bank statement.

I have like 2M in my own account and my sponsor has enough funds in his own account to cover other needed expenses.
Should I attach my bank statement or just use my sponsor's own?

Also, who should pay the school fees deposit?
Should it be From my own account or from my sponsor's account??

No, a PGD is not the same as Advanced Diploma

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) /Post Graduate Certificate (PG. Cert) is a postgraduate qualification awarded after bachelor’s degree. It is a one-year or two years program comprising of two/three to four semesters.

The duration of an Advanced Diploma course is two years, and it is lower than a bachelor’s degree

In summary, in a case of you having either a B.SC (2.2 or 3rd Class) or an HND, a PGD or PG. Cert is what you should go for

thanks baba

Your profile is a bit confusing, can you please show other notes?

fehinebony:
Hello everyone, @all the gurus on this forum, please I need some clarity on this.
I ordered my Gcms notes , I have attached the picture of the summary I got.

Medical request was sent on 21/07/20
Medical was updated to pass on 28/7/20
I received AIP 18/08/20

Please observe that the decision was written on the same day the medical request was sent, and I received
AIP almost a month after that.
Also I noticed "Entered in error"
Please what does this mean?

Thanks as I look forward to your feedbacks .

For Economic ties, I submitted documents for 6 six properties, 4 owned by my husband(sponsor) and 2 co owned by my husband and I. All property documents had valuation reports
I paid a full year tuition and attached evidence (18k CAD)
My husbands personal account had 11million naira ,
I had N2million in one account and had N4million in another account.
I have my own business which was incorporated in 2010.( submitted certificate of incorporation and tax documents).

just be a bit cautious with the sponsorship thing

Conclusion

Honestly, you have done well by taking time out to write your SOP but you still have a lot of work to do.

There are so many other things to add but it is midnight here and I feel sleepy already.

Next time, don't post your SOP on a public forum.

I wish you all the best.

Thanks a million for your time brother, I appreciate, will make the needed corrections. I sent u an email. Pls reply, thanks. You can also reach me on chiomakateolaniyan122@yahoo.com

Hello Everyone,

I just received my GCMS notes. I have earlier received AIP and Medical request. The notes doesn’t say anything about Approval or not. There are a lot of pages showing different things. I noticed the last page showed Eligibility passed, final pending Medical and Biometrics, but I have already done Medical and Biometrics.
