An unknown number called my line this afternoon and claimed he credited my phone with N500 last night, and that I should send the credit back. I checked my messages and true there was a N500 VTU credit from about 10 pm yesterday. I did not notice because I always use special plans like extra talk, in which I credit once a month. I also always credit my account directly from my bank account, and have not physically bought credits for over 2 years.

I honestly don't know the implications of sending credits to an unknown number using one of the banking platforms - apps or USSD code. If the guys disturbs me too much, I will just go and buy N500 recharge card and send the code.

Has anyone had similar experience of someone claiming to send credit to your phone by mistake and ask you to send it back?

If truly he mistakingly sent it to u...go out & buy 5hundred naira recharge card & send to him. Be vigilant. These days people can be very mischievous.

You just have to be really careful with this.

If you can afford it, please buy 500 naira card and send to him.

And don't delete the message for a few weeks to serve as evidence.

Exactly, na 419, they will call you back to thank you for nothing, just ignore them.

Just like the day I want to send card to my girlfriend 3k and I mistakenly sent the card to unknown number ....I'm still expecting my girlfriend to call me and say thank you she got it. Over hrs I didn't see any call I pick up my phone and I called her until she told me that nothing came in. I was like are you serious .

I check the number and I found out it's a wrong number well I first sent another card to my girlfriend Because I believe that one has gone for good. But I'm still in pain called the number guess what

Buy a N500 recharge voucher, send it to him and block the number once the message is confirmed sent. If he tries to reach you with another number, hang up immediately and block the number. By then he would have realised that you're aware his plans and he'll back off (that's if he's a scammer tho)

One called me going to two weeks now, that Baba told him to send me a recharge cards from Ondo State. He wanted to give the phone to Baba but I simply told him to send it and thank Baba on my behalf. There is no need to talk to Baba
