PRESS RELEASE

NOUN Resumes Academic Activities on Monday

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) will resume academic activities on Monday, October 12, 2020.

This follows the recent decision of the Federal Government on re-opening of all academic institutions.

The university had suspended all academic activities on March 20, 2020 following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

NOUN director of media and publicity, Mr. Ibrahim Sheme, said in a press release that the university Management has directed all members of staff to resume duty on Monday.

According to him, the university Registrar, Mr. Felix I. Edoka, had advised the staffers to strictly abide by all the known COVID-19 safety protocols while at work, saying any breach would not be tolerated.

He added that the Registrar informed all deans, directors and heads of unit to ensure compliance with both the resumption and the safety measures.

It is noteworthy that NOUN students were able to continue with their studies from home during the six-month lockdown, the university being an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution which requires no classroom attendance.

Signed:

Ibrahim Sheme
Director, Media and Publicity,
NOUN

Any post graduate diploma student in NOUN here?

I would appreciate if you can help me explain how NOUN CALENDAR works.

For someone who is hoping to start and complete a post graduate diploma in one year from January 2021 to December 2021, is it advisable to register now or wait till January next year for registration?

In other words, when is the best time to register so one can start studies in January and conclude by December next year?

The calendars I have seen look more tailored for current students, and doesn't address the concerns of potential and incoming students.

Anyone with useful information should please clarify. Thank you.

The whole situation is a bit confusing.

The school says they're resuming on Monday:

I know that registration for new students is currently ongoing... But I don't know when the registration will end and when the new students are to resume...

Please if you can throw more light or know anyone who's currently doing a post graduate there please put me in contact with the person so I can get the accurate information. Thanks a lot man

When do you think students who register now will start their studies?

Do you think they'll be rushed to meet up or do you think they'll start in January?

It is expected that if you have registered for the new semester, you should have started your studies.

In other words, if you have registered for 2020_2, you should expect to write exams December /January.

Studies have started for those that registered for 2020_2. If you are through with your registration, go to your study centre with your e-wallet and exam registration slip so that you can be given textbooks. Also, you can download the materials at https://nou.edu.ng/courseware.

Currently, date for close of registration is not known.

Also, expect to write exams December 2020

NOUN is trying to rush up things.

Can you display PGDE courses per semesters?

NOUN fees always varies depending on the courses you pick. But a budget of about 70k ± should do.
Semester registration 35k
Course registration 2500 for 2units, 3k for 3units
Exams registration 2k per course
TP 10k
Project registration 25k[/quote]

Since March that Covid started, all levels of civil servants were asked to stay at home, then levels 12 and above were later asked to resume. The news abt resumption is for their other staff who have bn at home all the while.
Note that students have resumed long ago, did their Pen on Paper and preparing for e-exam that will start in matter of days. if I'm not mistaken, it shld b over in a week or 2. I believe a new semester/session starts immediately since NOUN admits every semester

Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by Fkj202004: 6:24pm On Oct 10, 2020
Dave0116:

It depends on how many courses you are doing for the semester.

For B.Sc. Economics, these are the registration fees for 100level first semester:

4 courses @ 2 credit unit = 2,000 x 4 = 8000
2 courses @ 3 credit unit = 2,500 x 2 = 5000
An elective course which might be either 2 or 3 credit unit = 2,000 or 2,500
Examination registration is 1,000 per course = 7,000

Total = 22,000 or 22,500 for course and exams registration plus 36,000 for school fees = 58,000 or 58,500

Next semester, the calculation is similar except for semester registration. Instead of 36k, it will be 18k for every semester. The course registration and exams registration applies as he has explained.
